CHUCK ROGÉR: DISSECTING PROGRESSIVE ARROGANCE, PART 1
There a few more reality-disconnected writers in Financial Times than Clive Crook. In a recent post, the man simply assumes that not going along with Democrats' economic and cultural transformation constitutes mindless "paralysis."
Crook demonstrates the typical progressive posturing: Enlightened sages must undertake cultural and economic manipulation on behalf of the unwashed masses.
Inside the know-it-all echo chamber, there is simply no legitimate reason for rejecting the know-it-all agenda. Opponents are assumed to be dimwits unwilling to accept creative ruling class ideas. Crook believes that the impending electoral rejection of the Obama agenda constitutes a "vote for paralysis" indicating a "system of government" that is "broken."
Words escape me. Actually, words do not escape me. But the words in my head best not appear in this post.
Instead, let me observe this.
Crook exhibits quintessential progressive arrogance. Here's the narrative.
Obama is right and the people are too stupid to accept his wise guidance. The American "system of government" must be "broken" because the damned thing is about to allow mere peons to bring transformation to a screeching halt, throw out the transformational savior's angels, and install crude, reality-mongering replacements.
My questions are: Who's dumb? The Americans who are getting ready to perform this wonderful act of democratic republicanism? Or the clueless fool who thinks that Americans should just forge faithfully ahead with national suicide?
