CHUCK ROGÉR: GLOBAL WARMING ALARMIST PRESCRIBES WILD SPENDING AS FIX

Imagine living in a isolated commune with hundreds of other people from age five. Everybody observes an unchanging dietary regimen of veggies, grains, beans, and water in meager proportions for 20 years. Gradually, at age 25, community members venture beyond the confines of the commune.

Wispy ghosts see the outside world for the first time.

And the ghosts wonder, "Why do the round people with hideously un-sunken eyes refuse to listen to us, the pure-minded twenty-somethings, on matters of diet and health? Why do the stupid people not see our wisdom? Do they not comprehend the beautiful perfection that resonates throughout our stick-people echo chamber?"

The echo chamber phenomenon is real. When a group of dogmatists tolerate nothing inside the collective cerebral cortex but the concepts blessed by the collective, truth is the biggest casualty.

Global warming zealots began pushing the human-causation fallacy in the late 1980s. Since then, warmists' echo chamber conditioning has produced shriller and shriller predictions, none of which has, or ever will, come true.

There are countless examples of how the minds of "global warming" echo chamber denizens have executed contortions to swallow outrageous beliefs about "climate change." I have found that I can count on Financial Times to dependably provide laughable and yet scary examples of echo chamber warmism. FT has again supplied an example--this time a comical rant [Note: accessing FT articles requires free registration.] from one Anthony Giddens, who believes that Russia can save its economy only by spending wildly in order to "take climate change seriously."

That's right, in a warmist zealot's way of thinking, a country only two decades out of an economically crushing 70-year reign of totalitarian terror must adopt yet another method for destroying wealth. This time Russia must institute totalitarian terror based on junk science that baselessly predicts global destruction from "climate change" that humans didn't cause and can't stop.

Giddens sets the tone for his analysis in the opening paragraph.

Will the heat-wave and drought that created so much havoc in Russia this summer cause the leadership in that country to take climate change seriously? The answer is important: Russia is the third-biggest emitter of greenhouse gases globally, behind only China and the US. Yet Russia’s attitude to climate change to date has been cavalier, at best.

The passage illustrates the farcical illogic that Giddens uses. Honest scientists know that correlation doesn't establish cause-and-effect. Yet to Giddens, since Russia experienced a horrible summer while belching out industrial CO2, obviously the CO2 caused the horror. Similar foolishness fills the entire global warming echo chamber.

Read the Giddens piece, but be warned, don't take the arguments as logic-based or truth-based. The article is riddled with speculation and wild conclusions. Such is the nature of the noise emanating from the warmist collective.

NOTE TO THE READER: Financial Times has become a haven for loony left advocates of global warming alarmism. Look for another installment in the loons' lunacy, again hosted by FT, in my 9-9-10 blog post.
