There is a striking divide among the American people. Clear thinkers stand on one side, naïve pie-in-the-sky brainiacs on the other. A February Gallup poll found that 61 percent of liberals view socialism in a positive light while only 20 percent of conservatives are daft enough to favor the lethal ideology. The American left’s obtuseness must be put into perspective.

The Communist Manifesto caused a stir among daft philosophers immediately after the 1848 publication, but an extended brew time followed before the ideas of Marx and Engels spurred serious action.

Vladimir Lenin led Russia’s Bolshevik Party in the October 1917 Revolution. Lacking comprehension of Marxism’s wickedness as well as Lenin’s plan for applying the ruinous theory, the Russian people failed to choke the plan in the early stages. It is important to note that Lenin, conditioned by academic literature, possessed neither experience in creating wealth and social harmony nor desire to understand such vulgar practicalities. Vlad’s specialization was theory.

Lenin dwelt among leftists whom he saw as wise and privileged leaders predestined to free from drudgery a contemptible working class. The Bolsheviks were consumed by Lenin’s cabal of ideologues seeking to fine tune the party.

It would be quite normal for an observant, clear thinking American to be spooked at this point in the story.

Back in Lenin’s time, M.Y. Latsis, an official with Cheka (Lenin’s security agency), observed that Lenin’s followers were:

…not carrying out war against individuals. We are exterminating the bourgeoisie as a class. … The first question we ask is, “To what class does he belong, what are his origins, upbringing, education or profession?” These questions define the fate of the accused.¹

Today’s radical American Democrats have nothing against individuals—at least not individuals who see things through liberal lenses. Party members simply dismiss traditionalists as a class. The first question asked concerning skeptics toward the liberal agenda is, “Are they enlightened liberals, or are they dumb, gun-clinging, church-going commoners?” The answer determines the fate of the skeptics. Though liberals normally guard against such bluntness, leftwing wise ones can’t help but disgorge condescension at the mere mention of tea-partiers or traditional Americans in general.

History holds more lessons on the state of America today.

Lenin built a regime using high-minded Marxist ideas, with intent to force a vision on the Russian people whether or not the people embraced the vision. Lenin gained power by eliminating party opposition, centralizing control, purging dissenters, and consolidating political muscle among trusted cronies.

Once again, an eerie feeling of familiarity would be a natural reaction for any conscious American. It is particularly impossible to ignore political cronies like FCC Diversity Czar and socialist sympathizer, Mark Lloyd; Manufacturing Czar and committed socialist, Ron Bloom; Defense advisor Rosa Brooks, previously a special counsel in George Soros’s collectivist Open Society Institute; Energy Czar and former Socialist International member, Carol Browner; Labor Secretary and Democratic Socialists of America supporter, Hilda Solis; and former Green Jobs Czar and self-described communist, Van Jones.

Cronyism can’t extend much more broadly than an entire federal agency. The Environmental Protection Agency classified a product of human respiration as a danger to humans. On command, the EPA could enact industrial CO₂ emission caps designed to extract wealth from politically unconnected companies and redistribute the wealth to favored companies—all based on the naked hoax of human-caused global warming. America has witnessed the assembling of a “coalition of powers” to “bring about redistributive change.”

History presents America with other red flags.

Whereas Lenin had Josef Stalin draft a constitution that exposed citizens to government whim, any pretender to dictatorial power in America must cope with a government-limiting document adopted by long-dead non-Marxists. Surely America would never have a leader who looks for ways to “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution.”

Despite Lenin, then Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Andropov, and Chernenko having pretended to create a heaven even while locking the people in a hell, imitators today still take up the socialist cause. Radical Democrats have thrust America into a moment of crystalline clarity. But even a million startling wake-up calls cannot prevent the erasure of a way of life if the people who receive the calls possess no will to act.

For seventy-four years after the Bolshevik Revolution, the centrally-planned Union of Soviet Socialist Republics produced shiny weapons, fabulous athletes, privileged elites who epitomized evil, vodka-soaked leader after vodka-soaked leader, tens of millions dead from starvation, disease, and Gulag brutality, and a rotten-toothed, lifespan-challenged, desperately unhappy populace no more prosperous than the day Lenin conceived the deadly experiment. Surely no sane person, especially in a land of free and prosperous people, would suggest returning to the laboratory.

American voters have a large and scary database on the socialist tidal wave with which liberal ideologues seem willing to drown the people. The database now includes the fact that 61 percent of liberals embrace socialism. If voters heed the moment of clarity, then November will see the firing of elected representatives who threaten to act out of arrogant liberal insanity. Voters will fire representatives who deem it okay to summon miseries guaranteed by the most devastating ideology in the history of civilization. In 2012, voters will fire the most arrogant ideologue of all.
