DENNIS M. PATRICK: DEFUND OBAMACARE NOW

Put a small-time community organizer up against a senior KGB agent and the KGB agent will win every time.

 Syria? Forget it.

Syria is a distraction compared to America's pending disaster under Obamacare. A very brief summary of Obamacare up to this point is worthwhile. The Obama administration is in the process of hiring 16,000 IRS agents to enforce Obamacare. At least 159 new federal agencies will administer Obamacare adding to the burgeoning federal bureaucracy.

Obama's executive orders plan to use Obamacare to require hospitals and doctors to identify gun owning patients. This assaults the Second Amendment and skirts the Fifth Amendment protecting citizens from unreasonable search and seizure.

Obama's view of the US Constitution determines how he applies the law. As an Illinois State Senator in 2001 during a radio interview, Obama stated,  "The Constitution reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day." The problem with the Constitution is that it is a "charter of negative liberties." In other words, the Constitution does not give the federal enough power.

Regulations within Obamacare requires health insurance to cover abortion drugs. Thus, pro-life persons must pay for the abortions of others. Law professionals believe Obamacare will also require pro-life doctors and hospitals to perform abortions if they wish to continue in practice.

Because of Obamacare's intrusion into medical practice, over 50% of medical doctors are considering leaving the profession. The Association of Medical Colleges projects 90,000 fewer doctors in America by 2016.

Countries practicing government-run health care eventually engages in health care rationing to reduce costs. Obamacare established the Independent Payment Advisory Board. This board of 15 non-elected bureaucrats will control health care costs by denying medical treatment that physicians would otherwise recommend. This rationing board plans to cut Medicare payments by
33% from what insurers now pay doctors and hospitals. This is one reason doctors are leaving the profession and others will no longer accept Medicare patients.

Every country that practices government health care experiences considerable delays in authorizing treatment. Currently, Americans have a greater survival rate from cancer than European countries because of immediately available treatment. Under Obamacare this is about to change. Research and development will also deteriorate under Obamacare. Advances in
medical science will no longer have profits available for investment.  Pharmaceutical companies will shift their research away from life-saving treatments in cancer and heart disease to less regulated areas such as hair growth and cosmetics.

Finally, Obama's big selling point claimed that health insurance costs for an average family would drop by $2500 by the end of his first term. In fact, the cost of health insurance for that same family has increased by $3000 and is rising. The IRS estimates that by 2016 the average cost per family will rise to $20,000 per year! Obama originally told congress Obamacare would
cost less than $1 trillion over ten years. We now know Obamacare will cost in excess of $10 trillion over the same period. Obamacare passed into law by a single vote in the Senate. It would never have passed if the Senate had known the true cost of Obamacare.

Conservatives be courageous! Defund Obamacare NOW. House Republicans have urged John Boehner to support a Continuing Resolution that would fund the government and defund Obamacare. Defunding the Obamacare debacle will be tied to the Democrat-led debt ceiling increase. This is the same trick Senate Democrats used to impose the current sequester. Any government "shutdown" will be manufactured by Senate Democrats if they don't get their
way and they will then blame the Republicans. Rather than bipartisan negotiation they will, with media help, scare Americans with a "shutdown." Senate Democrats will reject a Continuing Resolution that would fund the government past September 30 and give the majority of Americans what they want -- elimination of Obamacare.

Don't fear a two-week government hiatus. Nothing will be shut down. Entitlement checks will go out; benefits will be paid. In retrospect, a 1995 government shutdown under Clinton did not hurt Republicans. They stood firm and it helped them. In 1996 Republicans picked up six Senate seats while holding the House. This set the stage for eventual passage of welfare reform.

Forget the media hype. Nothing will be shut down -- unless it is orchestrated by Obama and the Senate Democrats--

-- the Democrats,
 -- the Democrats.

Never, ever, forget it.
