DENNIS PATRICK: BIDEN BYTES
Lewis Carroll published “Through the Looking Glass” (1871) as a sequel to his other novel “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865). Alice enters a bizarre and fanciful world by stepping through a mirror. She can see the “other world” beyond the mirror and when she enters it she finds that everything reflected in the mirror is reversed -- including logic. As such, running helps one stay stationary, walking away from something brings one towards it, chessmen are alive, and nursery rhyme characters exist. And so it goes. The reader meets “Jabberwocky,” “The Walrus and the Carpenter,” and “Tweedledum and Tweedledee.”
In modern parlance, through Carroll’s looking glass we meet President Biden and his cabinet. We know all about aristocracy, autocracy, theocracy, plutocracy, democracy. We are now learning about “kakistocracy” defined as government run by the least suitable or most incompetent citizens of a state. This fits Biden and his administration to a “T,” ergo events of his first seven months in office. (The debate still rages as to how these people acquired power in the first place.)
These events include the collapse of the US southern border and all that the flood of illegals bring with it: serving as human shields for smuggling operations; spreading of COVID-19 and other diseases; advancing poverty, sex trafficking, and drugs; and straining America’s economic, education, voting, criminal justice, and health systems even as our own veterans and homeless themselves struggle to survive. Ironically, the northern border remains closed tight as a drum.
Another obvious event is COVID-19 and its “Delta variant” used as political hand grenades effectively dividing the American people. Questionable mask mandates, mandated vaccines, and vaccine passports (except for illegals) are the talk of the day. Shaming and bullying of American citizens by all levels of government await those who question, much less resist. Biden, by his actions and decrees, refuses to let the people go back to work. Schools and school children are completely abandoned by Biden’s hooligans at the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers.
Overshadowing the collapse of the US southern border and the COVID distraction is the biggest event yet -- the “unforeseen” Taliban takeover in Afghanistan. On display is a perverse array of inept political and military leaders. And where was the intelligence community that they did not “see” this coming? Too busy reveling in their besmirchment of former President Trump?
Secretary of State Antony Blinken does not know for sure how many US citizens are trapped in enemy territory -- maybe between 10,000 and 15,000. Furthermore he does not even know how many have been evacuated! When asked about the US military’s capability to get US citizens out of Afghanistan Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated, “We don’t have the capability to go out and collect large numbers of people.” If that is true, Austin just indicted Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley. As a minimum, a concept plan should have been on the shelf ready to flesh out and execute the extraction. If these men had any sense of honor they, and others, should resign their positions, and retire from public life. As for Blinken, John McCain opposed Blinken’s nomination in 2015 to be Obama’s Deputy Secretary of State. He believed Blinken to be “dangerous” and should not be allowed anywhere near Afghanistan or in a decision-making role.
Afghanistan cost the lives of 2,448 American service members and $2.2 trillion in American taxpayer money. The Taliban now controls $80 billion worth of military weapons and other equipment. Al-Qaeda and Isis have a sympathetic base on which to regroup and project terror on Western targets. Expect recruitment of terrorists worldwide to explode. Watch the Taliban-controlled state of Afghanistan take a seat at the UN conferring legitimacy on this terror state. Wait for them to establish consulates in New York and Washington, DC with equal negotiating status of other nations.
There are far reaching consequences to the rapid Taliban takeover. It destroys US credibility among nations and their confidence in US leadership. Expect increased cyberattacks by Russia and other bad actors on high-value military and civilian targets inside the US. Under the present US leadership, watch for Iran to possess nuclear weapons. In the Pacific, do not expect Taiwan to survive a Red Chinese takeover. The military bequeathed by Trump is being undermined without resistance through social re-engineering experiments including training in critical race theory. The US economy will suffer under the unreasonable demands of climate change policies via the Paris Accord overseen by John F. Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.
Robert Gates, Secretary of Defense under Obama, in his 2014 memoir “Duty” refers to Joe Biden saying, “I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” Damning testimony. Apparently, surrender is Biden’s idea of political courage.
Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. is the “leader” America “elected” having run a highly “successful” and ignominious campaign from his basement.
