DENNIS PATRICK: CHOOSE YOUR NEWS
Known as big media, mainstream media, legacy media, corporate media, and leftwing media the elitist press goes by many monikers. These apply to CBS, NBC, ABC, CNBC, CNN, NPR, PBS, New York Times, LA Times, and Chicago Times to name a few. With Tucker Carlson leading a list of dismissals, Fox News drifts leftward onto this list.
Corporate media seldom practices journalism as once known and certainly no longer “speaks truth to power.” It may regard itself as the fourth estate but it serves as a fifth column. Big media today defends the Ruling Class along with the administrative state. It regards itself as part of the state, the unelected fourth branch of government. No longer are they suspicious, curious, doubtful, or distrustful of government. They choose to cover the flanks of the powerful because they are the powerful.
A “disposition” problem plagues the legacy media “journalists” and their editorial boards. They think of themselves as nonpartisan watchdogs when in fact they are left-leaning pundits posing as journalists. They have exchanged the role of reporter for the role of scribe to the Ruling Class. Result? People search out alternative sources for information intuitively understanding the difference between truth and deceit.
Competition persists as a beautiful thing by correcting, culling, and purifying. Corporate media detests competition. It reduces their patronage, demolishes their ratings, and ultimately cuts their advertising income. In a word, boycotting big media rejects the premise of their message.
Beware of pejorative terms labeling alternative information sources. Invariably sites right-of-center get branded “racist,” “white supremacist,” and “extremist” fabricating “conspiracy theories.” Don’t fall for these derogatory defamations. Instead, investigate the following sources for yourself. Think of them as news aggregators for conservative news sources. There may be others. Some listings are redundant, but that’s good. Repetition serves to corroborate the substance of the content. Check these links.
