DENNIS PATRICK: DEMOCRATS - THE CARTELS’ NEW BEST FRIEND

President Biden’s administration with its Open Borders policy solidified its partnership with Mexican cartels. Cartels are the Democrat Party’s new best friend making billions of dollars from drugs and human trafficking while Biden’s administration grooms new voters by not enforcing the law.

Indeed, the US faces a crisis of unprecedented proportions at the southern border. Overwhelmed by adult and underage migrants, cabinet-level Democrat officials knowingly forfeit control of the border. Illegals from 160 different countries are released into the US with a “promise” to return some day for a court hearing. US officials cannot track the illegals once released. But cartels in the US can. They regularly extract payment from illegals’ wages for unpaid transit debts. Meanwhile, deadly drugs flow across the border in a deluge killing over 100,000 Americans last year alone.

The Biden-Harris administration bungled a border crisis of their own making with their soft-on-immigration policies and open borders. Since taking office, Biden halted construction of the border wall, reinstated Obama-era protections for illegals, and ended Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. This he promised during his “basement campaign.” And people voted for him. Or did not vote against him. The effect of Biden’s rollback of Trump’s policies and the non-enforcement of immigration laws was entirely predictable. Biden declared the border open to all comers luring hundreds of thousands of naïve migrants. And they came -- all 4.9 million-plus of them.

Enter the cartels. Encyclopedia Britannica defines cartel. “Cartel: association of independent firms or individuals … exerting … restrictive or monopolistic influence on the … sale of a commodity …Arrangements are aimed at … dividing up markets.”

Question: Who are the players that control the border between the US and Mexico? Answer: Essentially, the larger Mexican cartels including the Sinaloa, Juarez, Tijuana, and Beltran-Leyva Cartels. The US controls very little. Conservative estimates of combined cartel membership start at 100,000 (+). Between 2006 and 2010 an estimated 12,199 cartel members were killed by the Mexican government and roughly 8,500 imprisoned. On the flip side, estimated cartel criminal homicides range between 350,000 – 400,000 during the period 2006-2021.

Cartels have always marketed drugs. Marketing human beings recently became less risky and far more profitable. These criminal organizations understood that they could double the massive profits from drug smuggling by trafficking human beings. Both commodities are handled as business transactions balancing profits against losses in the ledgers. For all intents and purposes, Biden effectively colluded with these barbaric people.

Nearly one million people have died of drug overdose deaths in the past two decades, but a growing majority of those deaths in recent years involved the dangerous synthetic drug fentanyl. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that more than 108,000 people in the U.S. died of drug overdoses between February 2021 and February 2022. Of those, more than 70% involved fentanyl. Fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Plus, synthesized drugs like fentanyl are cheaper – both for producers and consumers.

Chemicals used to make fentanyl are almost entirely sold to Mexican drug cartels by China’s Triads. The cartels then package the fentanyl blending it with other drugs like Xanax and Adderall. Legitimate drugs laced with fentanyl are then moved into the U.S. to be sold on the black market. Most Americans who die of a fentanyl-related overdose aren’t even aware they are consuming it.

Although human trafficking is distinct from human smuggling, the results are quite often the same. Trafficking involves the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labor, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation. Alternatively, many illegals accept smuggling by “coyotes” to “assist” them into the US.

The Sinaloa Cartel handles most of the human trafficking into and throughout the US. The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) provided the following fee schedule from February 2021: Children/Family $4,000 to $5,000; Single Adult $8,000 to $9,000; Mexican $5000 to $6,000.

February 2021 Revenues: Central American Children - $34.1m; Central American Families - $80.7m; Central American Single Adults - $139.5m; Mexicans - $157.2m. February 2021 total: - $411.5m; Daily Average — $14.6m.

Children are used as “tickets” into the US after their dangerous journey north. These “tickets” are the bread and butter of human traffickers and drug smugglers. Once kids arrive, accompanied or unaccompanied, the US government puts them on planes and buses and shuttles them to unknown places around the US in the middle of the night. Into whose custody they are transferred is unknown.

In this border crisis the Democrat Party, Republican swamp dwellers, and their media lackeys knew, or should have known, that they were advancing a policy that incentivized women, children, and the unfortunate to be taken advantage of. What we now observe, they have produced. It would be neither cynical not inaccurate to imply that the Biden administration adheres to Stalin’s view that “The death of one person is tragic; the death of thousands is a statistic.”

Another quote in closing, this by Albert Einstein of all people. “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”
