DENNIS PATRICK: DUMB QUOTES FROM OUR NATIONAL LEADERS
Remember how President George W. Bush (Ol’ Dubya) was mercilessly vilified for his tortured English? He wasn’t dumb as the left loved to portray him. He graduated from both Yale and Harvard. But his “misspeakings” were nothing compared to the gaffes offered by the collective mouths of today’s purported Democrat leaders. Here are a few.
Hillary Clinton has her days. After committing several gaffes on her recent book tour, The Washington Free Beacon reports her as saying, “I am totally done with being really careful about what to say.” The American public might utter a collective sigh, “What difference does it make?”
When asked by the New York Times to name one book that made her who she is today, Hillary responded, “The Bible was and remains the biggest influence on my thinking. I was raised reading it, memorizing passages from it and being guided by it.” Ahem. What about the part that covers bearing false witness?
In the title of an article, Salon begs to query, “Is Hillary Clinton the True Heir of Ronald Reagan?” Are you kidding me?
A few choice tidbits on the global warming scam are always in order. In keeping with the global warming hysteria, the Los Angeles Times reported “A slow-motion and irreversible collapse of the massive cluster of glaciers in Antarctica has begun, and could cause sea levels to rise across the planet by another 4 feet within 200 years, scientists concluded in two studies….”
Here is California Democrat Governor Jerry “Moombeam” Brown excitedly announcing the fate of California costal cities. “The Los Angeles airport’s going to be under water. So is the San Francisco airport. You’re going to have to move all that …. That’s billions, if not tens of billions of dollars.” This was reported by The Independent Journal Review. Brown’s statement, however, was retracted the next day after it was pointed out that the Los Angeles airport is 100 feet above sea level.
Two months later the news was reversed. Suddenly Antarctica displays the “highest coverage of sea ice since satellite records began in 1979.” This was reported by The UK Daily Mail whose headline blurted “Global Warming Computer Models Confounded as Antarctic Sea Ice Hits New Record High with 2.1 Million Square Miles More Than Is Usual for Time of Year.” Ho hum. The scam goes on with enough believers to keep it alive.
Nevertheless, hilarious Al Gore continues to pontificate in the Politico, “Large carbon polluters have a business plan that is threatened by anyone saying, ‘You are using the atmosphere as an open sewer and, well, that has got to stop.’”
Al Gore rambles on in the Politico. “The American political system is an utter catastrophe. Our Democracy has been hacked. The country is utterly and completely paralyzed. Hog-tied.” Could he be describing the effect that the Democrat-controlled White House and Senate have had over the last six years?
What would a list of quotes be without some from President Obama? For example, WhiteHouse.gov attributes this to the president: “A long-term challenge that has to be dealt with right now is making sure that the planet works for the next generation and the generation after that.” It would be nice if generations could work.
CNS News cites a reassurance from the president: “I want to assure you, I’m really not that partisan of a guy.” You could have fooled me.
Then there is this Reuters headline: “No Optical Illusion: Obama Balances World Crises with Golf, Time Off.” Mostly golf.
Or, from the Associated Press: “Foreign Policy Crises Intrude on Obama Vacations.” Seriously?
The White House wouldn’t be the White House without a word from Michelle Obama. Here is an offering from CNN. “We need you to write the biggest, fattest check you can possibly write.” This challenge was presented to wealthy Chicago donors after Michelle complained “There is too much money in politics.”
Can anybody believe these people? No wonder Americans increasingly lack trust and confidence in their government.
