Browsing the New York Post (NYP) on January 27 uncovered an opinion piece by Peter Schweizer. Do you know the name? Schweizer is founder and president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI). GAI comprises a team of investigative researchers and journalists committed to exposing crony capitalism, misuse of taxpayer monies, and other governmental corruption and malfeasance. He published in 2018 “Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends.” Earlier in 2015 he published “Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.” Both discuss the accrual of wealth by long-serving politicians through connections and conniving. These are two of several books Schweizer authored focusing on his specialty – questionable acquisition of personal wealth through political power. Neither political party is spared scrutiny. Surprise! Surprise! The NYP piece amplifies the same theme in the Biden administration. More on that story in a moment.

            -- In “Secret Empires” Schweizer is evenhanded targeting politicians from both parties. This carefully researched book lays bare, in detail, the rampant corruption of powerful Democrat and Republican officials in the White House, Cabinet, and Congress, past and present, who use their positions to massively enrich families and friends. Schweizer has done his research and demonstrates what many politicians do covertly. Clearly, House and Senate candidates spend millions getting elected to jobs that pay only $174K a year knowing they will recoup the funds!

            -- In “Clinton Cash” Schweizer uses the crucial term "elite deviance." Elite deviance refers to a level of elitism whereby a person believes they are simply above the law. They know they are above prosecution. This is key. Consider Bill and Hillary interfering with the Justice Department about Hillary’s email controversy and how Attorney General Loretta Lynch allowed this to happen. In “Clinton Cash,” Schweizer details where and how the Clintons got their wealth. They practiced the oldest profession on earth -- selling themselves. And they did not come cheap. The people who bought their influence had plenty of money and expected a large return on their investment. Schweizer further details how, with the Clintons' help, Russia came to own large uranium deposits in the United States. Clintons sold out our country for personal gain.

The book details how the Clintons unscrupulously and clandestinely funded the Clinton Foundation through deals, promises, and exchanges via the State Department with Hillary directly funneling and laundering funds. The real issue becomes whether the State Department senior executives just below Hillary were asleep or hiding illicit activities.

Now, back to the NYP story. For those wondering why Joe Biden is soft on China, consider this. The Biden family has done five deals in China totaling some $31 million arranged by individuals directly tied to Chinese Communist intelligence services including officials at the highest levels. Every deal the Biden family enjoys with China was reached through Communist spy agencies. Joe Biden personally benefited through these arrangements as did his brother James Biden and son Hunter Biden. The NYP article lists the deals, the Chinese Communist contacts by name and position, and the dollar value. If you missed the NYP piece, you can read the details in Schweizer’s new book “Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win.” It is beyond comprehension that major news organizations are not the least bit curious about what appears to be illicit private side deals at the highest levels between US and Chinese Communist government officials.

Long-serving political leaders will never be voted out of office. Joe Biden served in the US Senate for 36 years before becoming Vice President. Senator Mitch McConnell served for 38 years. Senator Chuck Schumer served for 23 years. In the US House Nancy Pelosi has served 35 years and Steny Hoyer for 41 years. Many other senior politicians have similar longevity. Their constituents either love them to pieces or their constituents are so disinterested in what is going on around them they just don’t vote. There is a third possibility, that of voting irregularities. Furthermore, the senior political leadership certainly will not risk passing legislation that will curtail their wealth stream or longevity. Since change is unlikely to come by executive or legislative means, that only leaves the judicial branch of government to take corrective action.

A possible solution? Judicial Watch (non-partisan foundation fulfilling its educational mission of government accountability through investigation and litigation) and the GAI working in tandem would make a great collaborative team. AGI could ferret out the wrongdoing and Judicial Watch could build the court cases for prosecution. They may not be able to convict every crooked politician, but they certainly could imprison their subordinates and facilitators who, in turn, might turn against their bosses. Just a thought.
