DENNIS PATRICK: I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY SAID THAT
Think back in time. Remember when Vice President Dan Quayle committed a faux pas and misspelled “potato” using an “e”?
Then there was “Dubya.” George W. Bush was constantly portrayed by the media-generated narrative as really stupid. That he graduated from Yale (BA) and Harvard (MBA) didn’t matter. Nor did it matter that his analytical speed was lightning fast or that he enjoyed a superb memory.
With campaign season upon us it is time to spread the wealth around so to speak.
The two leading Democrat contenders (one declared and one undeclared) present a delicious montage. Because they are media favorites they seldom receive the “recognition” they deserve. Only when Democrats voice egregious misstatements is the media forced to concede their false narrative. And then only briefly.
Hillary Clinton’s quotes span decades painting a comprehensive and consistent picture of her character.
Here is Hillary reflecting her regard for women. “Who’s going to find out? These women are trash. Nobody’s going to believe them.” This was Hillary overseeing the so-called “bimbo eruptions” following the White House Oval Office sexcapade between Monica Lewinsky and President Bill Clinton. It turns out our president had several alleged infidelities to his credit. The names Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick are synonymous with Hillary tamping down the allegations. That is how she regards women.
“I am not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president.” The “papers” were documents citing Hillary’s involvement at the Rose Law Firm and accounted for her participation in the Whitewater real estate scandal. The missing documents were supposed to have been in possession of Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster at the time of his suicide.
Note the subtle allusion to the phrase “two for the price of one” used by candidate Bill Clinton in 1992 when referring to his wife Hillary. This was Clinton’s way of saying that Hillary was going to play a role far more important than that of a traditional First Lady. It came to pass.
“No. We just can’t trust the American people to make those types of choices….Government has to make those choices for people.” Hillary, on whether Americans should be able to make their own health care decisions. President Clinton made health care reform one of his highest priorities. As First Lady, Hillary, in 1993, chaired the Task Force on National Health Care Reform nicknamed “Hillarycare.” Their dream became reality March 23, 2010 with Obamacare.
“I have said that I am not running and I am having a great time being pres – being a first-term Senator.” Hillary answered a question regarding her presidential ambitions. Was this a Freudian slip alluding to her aspirations?
Vice President Joe Biden, although he hasn’t “decided” to run, probably will throw his hat in the ring soon with Obama’s blessing. Given the prickly relationship between the Clinton’s and the Obama’s, sinking Hillary’s candidacy in favor of Biden is not out of the question. Hillary is not the one to carry on Obama’s legacy.
“Shotgun Joe” Biden uttered some doozies defending Obama’s gun control policies. “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.” This statement was made by Biden in an interview with Field & Stream Magazine’s Anthony Licata. Biden’s illusive point was that people don’t need AR-15s for home defense. Just use a shotgun! This is a flimsy excuse for banning AR-15s.
Other “Shotgun Joe’s” comments include “You don’t need an AR-15. It’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use….” and “Use a shotgun on someone invading your home – you don’t kill your kids. Use an AR-15, it goes through your wall and it can kill your kid in the bedroom.”
Biden on the culture: “In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”
Joe Biden the consummate historian: “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’”
Joe Biden on the passage of the Health Care Bill: “This is a big f….ing deal!”
And, the classic “Bidenism” was addressed to Missouri State Senator Chuck Graham, who was wheelchair bound: “Stand up…Chuck, stand up, Chuck, let ‘em see you!”
As for Democrat presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley, at this point the chance of either gaining the Democrat nomination is slight to none. Their gaffs, though evident, don’t matter. To cite Hillary, “What difference at this point does it make?”
