The tax man’s near, and soon is here, and all must pay their due;

From each his wealth will extract a pelf, but how? We’ve not a clue.

Some taxes sure are necessary, but many of them are not;

Each person stands as their own tax base, it’s really all they’ve got.

A tax was spent, and where it went, was for entitlements;

Most was bequeathed on “entitlees” claiming impoverishment.

Of all the mighty taxpayers, the high top five percent,

Pay over half the income tax; to the Treasury it went.

Fifty percent of the taxpayers, share more of the burden still;

With ninety-five percent of taxes paid, go into the Treasury till.

“Soak the rich!” is a bogus scheme to hear, as clearly seen above;

The “rich” pay more than their fair share;

Where’s the public “thanks,” and love?

Expatriates are on the move and taking all their money;

Beyond the reach of the IRS; it’s sad, but sort of funny.

Five years ago the IRS from Americans, you see;

Took more money by comparison, than any country.

Americans were so fed up, and truly irritated;

All but one Republican, was soundly expurgated.

A brand new star from another realm, beyond the gloomy swamp;

Was elected President -- and on the Ruling Class did stomp!

“Trump’s not our President!” “We don’t like him one bit!”

Cried out the mainstream media. But Trump never threw a fit.

Trump leads the media by the nose; he plays them for a fool;

Distracting tweets -- two steps ahead, it is his iron rule.

Opponents all bemoan his acts, “He’s not so Presidential!”

Yet in his wake he makes them quake, belittled and differential.

He had a plan he executed, as vigorous as could be;

And from the heel of the IRS, he delivered you and me.

In 2018 his tax cut bloomed, and shone, and came to pass;

The biggest in our history, was implemented fast.

Standard deductions doubled, and corporate tax rates dropped;

From highest in the world, our economy did not stop.

The trading “Welcome” mat was out, competition flags flew high;

Nine in ten employees saw their pay increase draw nigh;

Six million workers’ benefits expanded -- Happy Day!

All due to President Trump’s tax cut, prosperity is in play.

Unemployment at an all-time low; for minorities and young as well;

Household worth at a record high, because unemployment fell.

Dow Jones posted a record high; Food Stamps a record low;

Trump saved our military, brought low by sequestration;

He bit the bullet and signed the bill that gave him indigestion.

The bill he signed was most unkind with pork – he had to do it;

Security in an unsafe world! He never would eschew it.

With few allies he struggles on, against his many foes.

To Make America Great Again – Mid-America surely knows!

The common man, the taxpayer, the one who pays the bills

Will harvest many benefits, from Trump’s unyielding skills.

Here’s to the faithful taxpayer, whose rewards will soon abound;

Beyond the April deadline, which will surely roll around.

Here’s wishing you more health and wealth and bonuses aplenty;

Happiness is – as happiness was – to keep just one more penny!
