DENNIS PATRICK: PAIN INFLICTED INTENTIONALLY

Americans face a mountain of social and economic difficulties imposed intentionally. One fiasco after another impacts Americans: open borders, inflation, doubling gas prices, defunding the police, high increase in violent crime, CRT indoctrination, sexualizing children, food shortages, baby formula shortages, Afghan abandonment, disrespect from other nations. This summer Americans can look forward to rolling blackouts, diesel rationing, further increase in gas prices, and unreliable air travel.

Our suffering is inconsequential compared to the transformation sought by our “betters.” These difficulties result not from incompetence or inefficiency. They have been imposed -- intentionally. Additionally, seventy percent of President Biden’s cabinet are President Obama carryovers. This, too, was quite intentional. Transformation of America is the Progressives’ goal and it is a full court press. Using economic coercion to bring America to its knees and reforming us is part of the Great Reset. The Great Reset depends not only on the obliteration of free markets, but of individual liberty and free will as well.

Enter Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF). This renowned organization made up of the world’s political, economic, and cultural elites meets annually in Davos, Switzerland. In 2020 he published a book called “COVID-19: The Great Reset.” My copy was a slog to read through. His book defines the Great Reset as a means of addressing the “weaknesses of capitalism” that were allegedly uncovered by the COVID pandemic.

A review of Klaus Schwab’s book, an explanation of the Great Reset, and a bit of Reset history may be found in Hillsdale College’s Imprimis article “What Is the Great Reset?” by Michael Rectenwald and reproduced at https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/what-is-the-great-reset/?utm_campaign=imprimis&utm_medium=email.

According to Rectenwald’s understanding, “…stakeholder capitalism involves the behavioral modification of corporations to benefit not shareholders, but stakeholders, [i.e.] individuals and groups that stand to benefit or lose from corporate behavior. Stakeholder capitalism requires not only corporate responses to pandemics and ecological issues such as climate change, ‘but also rethinking [corporations’] commitments to already-vulnerable communities within their ecosystems.’ [Klaus Schwab’s words] This is the ‘social justice’ aspect of the Great Reset. To comply with that, governments, banks, and asset managers use the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) index to squeeze non-woke corporations and businesses out of the market. The ESG index is essentially a social credit score that is used to drive ownership and control of production away from the non-woke or non-compliant.”

In his book, Schwab contrasts “stakeholder capitalism” with “neoliberalism.” Neoliberalism are the ideas and policies supporting competition, creativity, and economic growth, i.e., the free enterprise system. Stakeholder capitalism opposes neoliberalism by embracing corporate cooperation with vastly increased government intervention in the economy.

Rectenwald continues, “In June 2020, at its 50th annual meeting, the WEF announced the Great Reset’s official launch, and a month later Schwab…published [his] book on COVID and the Great Reset. The book declared that COVID represents an ‘opportunity [that] can be seized’; that ‘we should take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity to reimagine our world’; that ‘the moment must be seized to take advantage of this unique window of opportunity’; [don’t let a crisis go to waste?] and that ‘[f]or those fortunate enough to find themselves in industries naturally resilient to the pandemic’ -- think here of Big Tech companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, and Amazon -- ‘the crisis was not only more bearable, but even a source of profitable opportunities at a time of distress for the majority.’” The Great Reset appears to be fostering a confusing economic arrangement which Schwab calls “stakeholder capitalism” and which Rectenwald calls “corporate socialism.”

Finally, Rectenwald concludes, “In addition to being promoted as a response to COVID, the Great Reset is promoted as a response to climate change. In 2017, the WEF published a paper entitled, ‘We Need to Reset the Global Operating System to Achieve the [United Nations Sustainable Development Goals].’ On June 13, 2019, the WEF signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations to form a partnership to advance the ‘UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.’ Shortly after that, the WEF published the ‘United Nations -- World Economic Forum Strategic Partnership Framework for the 2030 Agenda,’ promising to help finance the UN’s climate change agenda and committing the WEF to help the UN ‘meet the needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,’ including providing assets and expertise for ‘digital governance.’

For the Davos elitists, this game plan spells out the way forward. The Great Reset is little more than the advancement of soft totalitarianism. An understanding of politics-as-usual, Democrat versus Republican, cannot explain this travesty imposed on Americans. This is not a contest between the two political parties our parents knew. Intentional effort on the part of extreme leftists now in control of the federal government explains the effort to restructure traditional America.

Obviously, Biden and his administration is far more polarizing than unifying. Those who voted for Biden, or did not vote at all, elected the worst president in American history. Wear it.
