DENNIS PATRICK: ROGUE PROSECUTOR MOVEMEN

Prosecutors are the custodians of the criminal justice system. Approximately 2,300 elected district attorneys nationwide have the responsibility to enforce the law and do so fairly. They rise above the distinction between liberal or conservative. Their duty must be to support law and order.

As a rogue prosecutor, Manhattan's progressive-left District Attorney Alvin Bragg designed Donald Trump’s indictment. George Soros said that he and Bragg never met nor had Soros given money directly to Bragg's campaign. Transparency, however, is not a Soros strong point. In 2016, the organization Transparify rated Soros's global network Open Society Foundations (OSF) as the least transparent (rated 0) in the US as well as in 47 countries around the world. So, how did Soros contribute to Bragg's election campaign? He did it the same way he influences other DA elections. Bragg was funded indirectly by large contributions Soros and his OSF gave to other Democrat PACS and not-for-profit organizations which, in turn, funneled money to advance Soros's progressive agendas and candidates, including Manhattan's DA.

DA Rachael Rollins of Boston offers another excellent example of a rogue prosecutor. Once elected she published a policy memo listing crimes she would decline to prosecute. These included trespassing, shoplifting, larceny under $250, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, receiving stolen property, operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, malicious destruction of property, a minor in possession of alcohol, drug possession, and several other crimes. She insisted these categories of crimes should be dismissed prior to arraignment or treated as a civil infraction.

Heritage Foundation, American Thinker, and other websites offer a trove of information about the recent rogue prosecutor movement driven by Soros and his OSF. The rogue prosecutor movement operates under two premises. First, the entire criminal justice system is racist. Second, the only way to correct the situation is to dismantle the traditional system by electing pro-criminal extremist district attorneys. These officials simply will not enforce existing laws and do intend to bring down the traditional justice system.

The rogue prosecutor movement maintains three primary goals. These include 1) replacing independent traditional law-enforcing prosecutors with criminal defense attorneys and activists who are bound to uphold the rogue prosecutor movement; 2) usurp the constitutional role of state legislatures by refusing to prosecute entire categories of crimes; and 3) end cash bail for all crimes.

One of the hallmarks of the rogue prosecutor movement has been its blatant usurpation of the constitutional role of state legislatures. Elected rogue prosecutors refuse to prosecute entire categories of crimes that are on the books in their states claiming that they (the prosecutors) are empowered to refuse prosecution under the guise of “prosecutorial discretion.”

This serious movement exists in large part because leftist billionaire Soros through his OSF drops tens of millions of dollars into selected DA races. He gives some money directly, but dollars are mostly funneled from his OSF into allied but unaffiliated PACs. This, in effect, legally hides the money. Recipient PACs then identify, recruit, and fund criminal prosecutors to run against truly independent law-and-order prosecutors. In this way Soros makes an end run around criminal laws passed by state legislatures and can thereby facilitate a form of judicial authoritarianism.

In 2015, Soros began backing state prosecutors who want to dismantle the criminal justice system portraying it as systemically racist. According to Soros, one should “blame the system, not the criminal, who is the real victim.” About this time BLM was growing and he spent millions to back candidates who were anti law and order, weak on crime, tough on gun control, and opposed to cash bail.

With substantial financial support from Soros and his OSF, candidates like George Gascon (Los Angeles), Larry Krasner (Philadelphia), Kim Foxx (Chicago), and Kim Gardner (St. Louis) have imposed the rogue prosecutor movement on their communities. Others include Steve Descano, the commonwealth’s attorney in Fairfax County, Virginia; San Francisco’s recently removed rogue DA Chesa Boudin; and Baltimore’s now-defeated (and federally indicted) rogue prosecutor Marilyn Mosby.

For those seeking additional information about Soros’s endeavors, two books are worth reading. First, Matt Palumbo’s recent book “The Man behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros” which discusses Soros’s financial dealings, political operations, and networks. Second, “Soros on Soros: Staying Ahead of the Curve” written by the man himself in an interview style discusses political analysis, moral reflection, and a portrait of the world as he sees it.

Soros wants to transform national and international politics and society. He wants a global system of political decision-making that heavily regulates international finance. His goal seeks to establish a world defined by a global community based on his view. In his opinion, the creation of a so-called global “open society” is the only way to ensure that humanity overcomes the challenges of climate change and nuclear proliferation. He is 92 years old. Soros will spend the remainder of his life ensuring the world conforms to his vision.

The consequences have been predictable -- and deadly.
