DENNIS PATRICK: SUGGESTED DEMOCRAT 2020 PLATFORM

Political party nominating conventions typically adopt a platform when nominating their presidential candidate. Input is received and a platform committee puts pen to paper drafting the party’s platform.

A political platform is a formal set of principled goals which are supported by a party and its candidates. As a metaphor, the platform is composed of positions or viewpoints known as “planks” that address topics important to the party. The idea is to appeal to the general public.

The party’s national convention votes on the platform. In a sense, the platform becomes the party’s manifesto. Once adopted, the campaign begins in earnest.

Given the Democrats’ divergent field of presidential candidates, the party can use some platform suggestions. The following suggestions come from comments made by the twenty or so Democrat presidential candidates on the issues gleaned from debates and news interviews.

Remove the Second Amendment from the US Constitution. In a modern society firearms are no longer needed except by a designated few. This is especially true of so-called assault weapons or any rifle that looks ugly. This will guarantee an end to mass shootings.

Remove any vestige of free market capitalism. Capitalism requires competition and competition results in winners. Winners imply inequality between people and groups of people and that is not good for society. We are all “equal.” Therefore, only a socialist government can ensure fairness for all.

Abolish private health insurance for the good of the country. Government-provided health insurance will assure everyone of equal care under the state. This includes coverage for illegal aliens – the future hope of the Democrat party. As an added benefit, government health insurance will certify that greed will not be the motivating factor for the medical and the pharmaceutical professions.

Raise every tax conceivable, especially on the large middle class where the bulk of the money is earned. In doing so, use the language “tax the rich.” This money will be used to fund single payer (government) health care for all, free college, expanded social services, benefits for illegal aliens, and other giveaways.

Grant blanket amnesty to every possible illegal alien. Furthermore, speed up the citizenship process to increase the Democrat voter base.

Democrats should continue to work with drug cartels rather than brand them with malicious tweets. Cartels serve a humanitarian purpose helping hapless immigrants flee poverty in their country of origin and reach the United States.

Public schools (K-12) do not need “fixing” as white supremacists would allege. Instead, reinforce current public school policies regardless of mediocre proficiency of graduates. The dropout rate will resolve itself with increased diversity. Also, increased funding for quasi-academic activities will increase graduation rates of students.

America must abolish the use of all fossil fuels to effect climate change and save the planet. Democrats support clean, renewable, sustainable energy and cannot convert fast enough. Our goal is sound but our message needs more work.

Expand and broaden the programs and policies set forth by America’s first black president – Barack Hussein Obama. He moved the country far enough to be able to terminate the American experiment in the view of the many, and maybe a majority, of people. America’s founding is nothing to celebrate. America’s founding was illegitimate, immoral, and racially unjust. It brought pain and misery to far too many people and America should be restructured in a more fair and equitable way.

No American flag should be displayed at any Democrat party function. For all other public events the display of the flag would be discouraged. This would eliminate uncomfortable feelings of anyone choosing not to pledge allegiance to the United States or to any acknowledgment of “god.”

Government is responsible for eliminating inequality and unfairness. Individuals are not capable of caring enough about other people to do the right thing. People are too selfish, too mean, and too rude. No individual should possess any more or any less than the next person. That is not fair. The government that serves the people best is the government that controls outcomes. Election of Democrats will ensure this standard is met through the power of the state. Only the state will have the resources to do the job and the state knows best.

A pattern emerges in the Democrat platform and should be very obvious – control by the few over the many is best for America. In their view, the individual exists for the good of the state. The only question now is, “Will the many vote away their freedom in 2020?”
