Political party nominating conventions are past, but the residue lingers. Parties typically adopt a platform in the process of nominating their presidential candidate. After receiving input from state conventions, a national platform committee puts pen to paper drafting the party’s platform.

Focusing on a vision for the nation, a political platform evolves as a formal statement of a party’s stand on various issues. As a metaphor, the position on issues comprises the “planks” that build the platform. These “planks” mirror the views of the party and its candidates. The idea is to communicate to the public what the party’s candidates would do if elected.

Duly elected delegates to the national convention must approve the platform. In a sense, the platform becomes the party’s manifesto. Once adopted, campaigning begins in earnest. But – and this is a big but – a candidate may ignore the platform.

Again, I know that the two national conventions are history, and their platforms are adopted. That said, on the outside chance one of President Biden’s delegates had asked me for platform ideas, here is what I would have offered. (Tongue in cheek, you never know. Just being helpful.)

Remove the Second Amendment from the US Constitution. Today firearms are no longer needed except by the few police left. This is especially true of so-called “assault weapons” or any rifle that looks ugly. Implication? This will guarantee, beyond a doubt, an end to mass shootings.

Remove any vestige of free market capitalism. Capitalism requires competition and competition results in winners. Winners imply a lack of equity between races, genders, and ethnic groups and that is not good for society. Only a socialist government can prevent capitalism.

Abolish private health insurance for the good of the country. Government-provided health insurance (limited assets) will assure everyone receives equal care under the state. This includes coverage for illegal aliens – the future hope of the Democrat party. As an added benefit, government health insurance will certify that greed will not be the motivating factor for the medical and the pharmaceutical professions.

Raise every tax conceivable, especially on the large middle class who earn the bulk of the money. In doing so, use the language “tax the rich.” This money will be used to fund single payer (government) health care for all, free college tuition, expanded social services, benefits for illegal aliens, and other benefits otherwise denied the lower classes.

Grant blanket amnesty to every possible illegal alien. Furthermore, speed up the citizenship process to increase the legitimate Democrat voter base.

Democrats should continue to work with drug cartels rather than brand them with malicious tweets. Cartels serve a humanitarian purpose helping hapless immigrants flee poverty in their home country to reach the United States.

Public schools (K-12) do not need “fixing” as white supremacists allege. Instead, reinforce current public-school policies regardless of mediocre or failing proficiency of students. The dropout rate will resolve itself reflecting increased diversity. Also, increased funding for quasi-academic courses will eventually result in increased graduation rates.

America must abolish the use of all fossil fuels to affect climate change and save the planet. Democrats should support clean, renewable, sustainable energy. As a country we cannot convert fast enough. Our goal is sound, but our message needs more work.

Expand and broaden the programs and policies set forth by America’s first black president – Barack Hussein Obama. America’s founding is nothing to celebrate and was illegitimate, immoral, and racially unjust. It brought pain and misery to far too many people and should be restructured in a more fair and equitable way.

No American flag must be displayed at Democrat party functions. For all other public events, the display of the flag should be discouraged. This would eliminate uncomfortable feelings of anyone who hates the United States.

Government is responsible for eliminating lack of equity and white privilege. Individuals are not capable of caring enough about other people to do the right thing. People are too selfish, too mean, and too rude. No individual should possess any more nor any less than the next person. The government that serves the people best is the government that controls outcome. Election of Democrats will ensure this standard is met through the power of the state. Only the state will have the resources to do the job correctly. And the state knows best.

A pattern emerges in this Democrat platform and should be obvious – control by the few over the many is best for America. After all, the individual exists for the good of the state and not the other way around. The only question remaining, “Will the people vote with their hearts or their heads in 2024?”
