DENNIS PATRICK: TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” So states the second paragraph of America’s Declaration of Independence.

Is it possible that some Americans have no problem imposing tyranny on other Americans by denying them their pursuit of happiness? A requirement for societal compliance by some people seems to outweigh the pursuit of happiness by others. Beware of social change agents!

We live in the here and now. To constantly dredge up the wrongs of the past such as slavery (most have never experienced slavery) which have already been addressed and dealt with harms our cultural health. Or to project gloom and doom for the future (in which we have not lived) becomes detrimental. Creating crises and fear, generating pessimism and negativism may be a psychological anomaly for some people. But this becomes coin of the realm for Leftists. The last thing the Left wants would be happy people content with their lives. How can you run a revolution with everyone satisfied? The Left is determined to cure society’s ills by any means. Dystopian behavior shared with their media lackeys and Never Trump Republicans has been dubbed Trump Derangement Syndrome.

This term may be traced to psychiatrist Charles Krauthammer in 2003 when he coined the term “Bush Derangement Syndrome” during President George W. Bush’s term in office. The syndrome was defined as “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, presidency – nay – the very existence of George W. Bush.” Krauthammer later defined “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (Krauthammer was no supporter of Trump) as a Trump-induced “general hysteria” among the chattering classes producing an “inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences and signs of psychic pathology in the President’s behavior.”

The syndrome has also been defined as “hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people’s judgment.” It refers to “blind hatred of those who preach tolerance.” To be sure, this disorder reflects the increased polarization within American society.

Is this normal behavior? Not according to some psychiatrists and psychologists. Appearing on the RTV network, psychologist Nancy Colier answered a question dealing with those who, in the extreme, did not approve of President Trump’s job performance, words, actions, him personally – or his family and cabinet. “…Anger does not lead to happiness. Anger leads to stress... So, we don’t get happy when we’re hating. We don’t get happy when it’s us against the other. More hate does not make us well. And it does not make us happy…” She continues, “…[N]ot only the rage that’s being fomented and worked, not only the climate [change] insecurity, not only the – everywhere you look somebody is being blown up about some reason for hate. Right? But none of this works. So, we’ve got to get back to some sanity.”

And, of course, Trump intentionally agitates Leftists and media. He goads, he teases, and he trolls. Humorless as the Left seems (especially the media), they fall for his bait every time.

Trump represents a huge danger to the postmodern progressive world. He effectively discredits and makes irrelevant their authoritarian ideas. Progressives view the European Union as a superior model for governing America than the US Constitution. The media, in league with progressives, cannot allow a rouge reactionary like Trump to stand in the way.

Trump flushed out his adversaries and their ideas showing them for who they are – out of touch with most Americans. In doing so, he has been bloodied (literally) but continues fighting. If he wins the 2024 election, and he may well succeed, his one-man crusade to save America from radical socialism will triumph. The 2024 Democrat cabal knows it. When Trump wins in 2024, the Democrat Party may eventually recover, but it will require a major realignment with middle America. The Party then may be as unrecognizable in a corrected mode as it is now in an extremist mode.

There are many adversaries aligned against Trump. But he has one major advantage. Those who are blinded by hatred beyond reason really do suffer from a mental health issue. To Trump’s benefit, it will be their undoing.

Aside from his persona and quirks, Trump stands for patriotism at its finest, always putting America first.

One wag observed with a degree of eloquence, “Sometimes a country needs a Mother Teresa and sometimes it needs a Dirty Harry.”

The inept political Ruling Class including Democrats and Republicans, liberals, and conservatives, has earned for itself the reckoning of a Dirty Harry.
