DENNIS PATRICK: WEAPONIZING FEDERAL AGENCIES
Weaponize (verb): To use to gain a powerful advantage; to develop for use as a weapon.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, the government has weaponized federal agencies to intimidate, harass, and silence political opponents. Biden’s regime has intentionally weaponized the judicial system specifically to target political opponents while protecting deep-state friends. Retribution imposed on opponents characterizes the aim of weaponizing federal agencies.
Since taking office, Biden used taxpayer resources to attack conservative parents on school boards, abortion clinic protests, and other pro-life advocates. Most blatant of all is the use of lawfare with the intent of jailing Biden’s top political opponent prior to and during this election year. The sham case of New York vs. Trump amounts to the most egregious example of the Left’s weaponization of the Justice Department.
But it’s not just Trump that the Left is going after. The Biden administration has used federal agencies to silence conservative parents and families. In 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo redirecting federal law enforcement and counterterrorism resources to name, intimidate, and “prosecute when appropriate” parents who voiced concern at school board meetings about the woke propaganda being taught in public schools.
As one example, the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) surveilled and censored Americans on social media by colluding with Big Tech. The House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government reported that “CISA expanded its unconstitutional practice by developing an elaborate social media censorship apparatus… in order to facilitate the censorship of Americans’ political speech, both directly and by proxy…There is no constitutionally viable legal authority that allows CISA to engage in this or any other kind of censorship.”
As another example, the Biden-Harris administration continued to weaponized the IRS by making unannounced visits to taxpayers’ homes to harass and intimidate them. Both House committee and subcommittee listed some of the abuses committed by the IRS. “The IRS conducted an unannounced field visit to the home of journalist Matt Taibbi the same day he testified before Congress about government abuse… [Another time an] IRS agent gave a fake name and used deception to [enter] the home of an Ohio taxpayer and then threatened her when asked to leave.” Nothing new here. Obama had weaponized the IRS with Lois Lerner targeting the Tea Party and others.
A third example of weaponizing government agencies occurred when the FBI targeted traditional pro-life Catholics and categorized them as domestic terrorists for picketing abortion clinics. Both committees found that “the FBI abused its counterterrorism tools to target Catholic Americans as potential domestic terrorists… [T]he FBI relied on at least one undercover agent to develop its assessment, and the FBI… proposed developing sources among the Catholic clergy and church leadership.”
There are more examples of retribution using weaponized federal agencies. Two individuals had the audacity to run as candidates for president without the Democrat party blessing. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr was intimidated when denied Secret Service protection although his father and uncle were both assassinated while in office. He had previously left the Party objecting to administration policies including COVID mandates.
Former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (U.S. Army Reserve lieutenant colonel and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate) had been placed on TSA’s suspected terrorist watchlist. She confirmed her fate when a whistleblower from the Federal Air Marshals Service revealed her status in early August. Her airline boarding passes had been earmarked subjecting her to intense harassing searches of personal belongings and screenings by explosive detection dogs. Federal air marshals had been assigned to go with her on flights. In 2022 Gabbard left the Party and identified as Independent. She had been critical of the Biden Administration in recent years as well as the “proxy war” in Ukraine. Local Hawaii news outlets covered her story. There was no coverage by the legacy media.
Weaponizing government agencies is the stuff of third world dictatorships. Now, such illegal power plays are becoming a staple of American political Left.
