The following joke beautifully illustrates the insane infliction of woke culture on society. A guy walks into a bar and wagers a patron for a drink. “How many legs would a dog have, if we called the dog’s tail, a leg?” Through a slightly inebriated haze the patron confidently replies, “Five, obviously.” The truth is, calling a dog’s tail a leg does not make it a leg.

Funny. We laugh while being asked, no -- required – to pretend a man is a woman. Non-compliance with this idiocy of pretending will get you “cancelled,” or worse.

Take for example the Babylon Bee, a satirical website accustomed to poking fun at silliness and stupidity. On 3/21/22 the Bee tweeted its choice of Rachel (aka Richard) Levine as Man of the Year. Levine is US Assistant Secretary for Health, a four-star admiral in the US Public Health Service, a pediatrician, and a transgender. Twitter immediately banned the Bee’s account. CEO Seth Dillon said the Babylon Bee will not delete the tweet. "We're not deleting anything," Dillon said. "Truth is not hate speech. If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it."

Richard was previously married to Martha Peaslee Levine, had two children with her, and divorced in 2013 following his “transition” in 2011. Richard will not confirm chemical or surgical castration (if at all). Castration does not make him a woman. He is a man because his trillions of body cells contain both X and Y chromosomes. Women have two X chromosomes. All the therapy in the world will not provide Richard that combination. Mr. Levine a male forever. Mandating that the public pretend along with him that he is a woman is nothing less than authoritarian.

Another example begs citing. Lia (aka Will) Thomas, a male swimmer on the women’s swim team, who identifies as a woman, has been shattering women’s records at the University of Pennsylvania.

A US Swimming official resigned in protest of Will Thomas. Cynthia Millen, who had officiated US Swimming meets for three decades, stepped down ahead of the US Paralympics Swimming National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. She argued that Thomas, 22, has an unfair advantage over female athletes after coming out as transgender in 2019 following three years on the men’s team at Penn. “The fact is that swimming is a sport in which bodies compete against bodies. Identities do not compete against identities,” Millen said. “Men are different from women, men swimmers are different from women, and they will always be faster than women.”

Thomas has created an uneasy environment in the locker room according to a New York Post story (1/27/22). He still retains biologically male genitalia which are sometimes exposed. Plus, he is attracted to women. Thomas admitted he is still dating women. A member of the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team said some team members are uncomfortable changing in the locker room with Thomas. “Multiple swimmers have raised [the issue], multiple different times,” she said. “But we were basically told that we could not ostracize Lia by not having her in the locker room and that there’s nothing we can do about it, that we basically have to roll over and accept it, or we cannot use our own locker room.” She added, “It’s really upsetting because Lia doesn’t seem to care how it makes anyone else feel. The 35 of us are just supposed to accept being uncomfortable in our own space and locker room for, like, the feelings of one.”

Turn now to Judge Tetanji Brown Jackson. The US Supreme Court nominee last week could not, or would not, give a definitive answer to the question asked by Sen. Marsha Blackburn, “Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman’?” Jackson eventually replied, “No, I can’t…I’m not a biologist.”

Writing in the New York Post, Piers Morgan said, “I’m not a brain surgeon but I know what a brain is. This is where ‘progressive’ thinking leads – to a terror of stating basic arguable facts lest it offend the woke brigades.”

Stephen Miller tweeted, “This shouldn’t have to be said, but if you don’t know what a woman is, you shouldn’t be in any position of responsibility – let alone decide the fate of the Republic from our nation’s highest court.”

In his show Prime Time, Bill Maher recently stated, “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but …” He then quipped, “If you don’t understand the last words that complete that rhyme, you need to go back to kindergarten.” He went on to slam woke folk during the same episode saying that they need to stop changing words just because they cannot deal with reality. He specifically mentioned eight words that people need to stop redefining: hate, victim, hero, shame, violence, survivor, phobic, and white supremacy.

In his lighthearted book, The Devil’s Dictionary, Ambrose Bierce defined language as “the music with which we charm the serpents guarding another’s treasure.” How wistfully true, these words. Want to change the culture? Change the language and the culture is yours for the taking.

Hans Christian Anderson’s folk tale The Emperor’s New Clothes showed how fraudsters tricked the Emperor into marching naked in a parade. We can easily fall victim to woke fraudsters.

In the end, we’re not talking about penny ante jibes by woke folk. We’re talking about the eventual imposition of an authoritarian mandate by a minority. Ben Shapiro would call this our authoritarian moment.
