DENNIS PATRICK: CLIMATE CHANGE BOGEYMAN
With Halloween upon us, progressive elites continue their attempts to scare Americans with their manmade climate change prank. Those who buy into this drivel are like little kids listening to ghost stories. Unconscientiously, they want to be frightened.
Doom-and-gloom environmentalists pushed their climate change silliness as early as the 1960s. Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring” and Paul Ehrlich’s “The Population Bomb” pioneered the environmental movement setting the scene for manmade climate change activism. Chicken Little’s mantra “the sky is falling” still echoes through the media today.
In response, Dixie Lee Ray, PhD (1914-1994), former Democrat governor of the state of Washington authored two books effectively trouncing the leftist environmental movement. Ray earned her Ph.D. in biology from Stanford University. In 1973 she was appointed chair of the Atomic Energy Commission and in 1975 was appointed Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs. She was no slouch.
Her first book was “Trashing the Planet: How Science Can Help Us Deal with Acid Rain, Depletion of the Ozone, and Nuclear Waste (Among Other things)” (1990). (Interestingly, acid rain and the ozone hole have outlived their usefulness in climate change arguments.) Ray scornfully saw climate scammers as “distinguished by a…do-good mentality that…cloaks…elitism…coupled with a belief that the end justifies the means.” End justifies the means!? That axiom speaks of Marxism. Not so coincidentally, with the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 the communist movement found a new home in the environmental movement.
In her second book, “Environmental Overkill: Whatever Happened to Common Sense?” (1993), Ray makes a straight forward analysis for those who wish to understand the scientific and political fundamentals of environmental issues. Speaking in Pasco, Washington in 1991, she ridiculed scientists who explained climate change by averaging centuries of data. “Beware of averages,” she told her audience. If such reasoning was valid, then “The average person has one breast and one testicle.”
Manmade climate change “evidence” continues to evaporate over time.
-- CLAIM: People cause the earth’s overheating (mostly Americans) building factories and driving big cars. FACT: Earth has experienced warming and cooling cycles repeatedly.
-- CLAIM: Computer models predict the dramatic increase in the global temperature. FACT: Computer models have been notoriously wrong. Garbage in; garbage out.
-- CLAIM: We are experiencing the hottest decades ever. FACT: Temperature measurements indicate no warming for the past several years.
-- CLAIM: Global warming melts polar ice caps. FACT: Antarctic’s ice cap continues expanding.
-- CLAIM: Global warming causes extreme weather. FACT: Earth experiences routine variations in temperature and precipitation across the spectrum.
To avoid political sucker punches, each person should exercise diligence when acquiring valid climate information. Most politicians don’t care about climate change one way or the other. But, they are not above singing a siren’s song about climate change to a hoodwinked public if it gathers votes.

Consider some reasons anti-American environmentalists foster the climate fraud.
1.) The redistribution of wealth from a guilt-ridden United States to underdeveloped countries.
2.) The promotion of global socialism.
3.) Most important of all -- the acquisition of authoritarian power by political swindlers over an unmindful American public.
“How dare you…” blurted 16-year-old Greta Thunberg lecturing the world in a 2018 speech to the UN. She has Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism. Leftist hucksters are not above promoting debilitated proxies to shield their agenda. After all, they had no reservations exploiting as a front man a US president in observable cognitive decline.
Can’t we just get along? Call weather conditions “weather” and leave mankind out of it!
