GARY EMINETH: LET’S GO BRANDON!
There’s an old song that runs through my heard every time every time I read something circulating through the newspapers or on social media these days.
Especially something like I read about a young man taking a conservative position on social issues in ND. The song goes something like this: “You’ve got to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything...” I’m referring to State Representative Brandon Prichard Republican from District 8.
He has been an outspoken critic of establishment Republicans calling on them to adhere to the principles laid out in the party platform. While I am not in agreement on a 100% of his statements, but then who is with all politicians. I happen to know the young man under scrutiny. He serves in the legislature.
He would be considered a conservative and even an activist. He is a young man in his twenty’s, he is married to a lovely young woman; together, they are expecting their first child. As a law student, he manages schoolwork, a part-time job and family responsibilities. He is friendly and well-liked by his peers. And with all that going for him, he has strong traditional values on marriage and family issues, coupled with a dynamic faith in God.
He is a spokesman for the rights of individuals under the Constitution with a good understanding of what the Founding Fathers intended when they wrote the Bill of Rights. As a Republican, he is a strong proponent for espousing and adhering to the tenets of the party platform and at times makes his positions on the first amendment very clear.
Does he sound to you like someone who should be ridiculed, mocked, and warned against? And especially by those who by their words or actions (i.e. voting records) have all but ignored the platform of the NDGOP?
Here is a young man, representing the Republicans in his district, by taking a strong position on the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (property).
He is principled and understands the sacredness of moral virtue. And now he has a stake in the game—as an expectant father and husband, he believes in the security and safety of his family, and he takes it seriously. How long has it been since you were concerned about what your children we’re hearing or reading in school.
What would you do if your younger daughter announced that she had, more than just an urge to be a male and had started hormones and was scheduled for surgery to have her breasts removed. That last line was added to get your attention! Since when was it against protocol to adhere to the party platform?
So, what is wrong if someone chooses to live out his/her religious beliefs?
Furthermore, why should conservatives listen to a liberal blogger who does not speak for the republican party but, on the contrary is a shill for the establishment? Stand up!
Stand for something and don’t run the risk of being so open minded that your brains fall out!
