HERB MITTELSTEDT: CZAR; FROM WHERE, ON WHAT BASIS?

Czar:

Czar, an interesting word (Noun).  Has it ever been in common use in the United States, since its birth, discovery of America, or its colonization?  Is it a biblical word?  Interesting questions.

The title Czar, derived from Caesar, meant emperor in the European medieval sense of the term.  A ruler who claims the same rank as a Roman emperor, with the approval of another emperor or a supreme ecclesiastical official. American Dictionaries dating from 1828 define czar as :

Czar: A title of the emperor of Russia- Webster’s Encyclopedic Dictionary 1942

Czar:  A king;  a chief; a title of the emperor of Russia, pronounce tzar and so written by good authors, American Dictionary of The English Language, Noah Webster 1828

Czar:  an emperor: title of any of the former emperors of Russia and at various times, the sovereigns of other slavic nations.  Any person having great or unlimited power over others; autocrat- Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second Addition-1976

Did our founding fathers use the word in our Constitution?  Nope, couldn’t find any mention of it. They were focused on a republic.  So what is going on, now that our emperor, oops president, has appointed about 36 czars?  He obviously envisions himself as a person having great or unlimited power over others; an autocrat.  Where is the constitutional basis?  Is our astute congress sleeping? Do they know the constitutional basis?  Would they be willing to share it with the rest of us?  Has anyone asked the Supreme Court?

I’m reminded of a question I asked a ND State Senator, some time ago; How many of our legislators have read the ND Constitution?  His answer, about 5%!!! I doubt a majority of our US Congress would score in that range. An exam on their understanding of the document, would probably yield an equally low number!  Doug Wead, presidential historian and author, was asked; How do elected officials view the constitution, once in office?  His response; “They consider it an inconvenience.”

Amity Schlaes’ book, ‘the forgotten man’, indicates a trend began in the FDR and Wilson administrations, still being practiced today.  This book documents an infatuation by FDR’s advisors, appointees and acquaintances, with communism.  They made numerous trips to Russia and were enamored by the communist experiment.  In case you forgotten, as many have, communism failed there, and there is no record of it succeeding anywhere.  Wonder why our country is in the mess it’s in?  Stop wondering and demand a return to the foundation, The Constitution!  Before doing that, however, it may be well to review the document, it is a marvelous thing. Confusing? Only to the confused and those intent on circumventing it.

WWJD, is a wrist band worn by many.  The question being ‘what would Jesus do?’  His response to Herod, who apparently was threatening to kill him was, ” go ye and tell that fox, behold I cast out devils and I do cures today and tomorrow and the third day I shall be perfected.”

What was he saying?  Fox means a sly sneaky individual, certainly not a compliment.  I believe he was pointing out that after being raised from the dead, there was coming the fulfillment, of something Jesus prayed for, and spoke of continually, ‘the Kingdom of God’, meaning a new kingdom (government)  was arising and would replace not only Caesars kingdom, (government) but all earthly kingdoms(governments), with the Kingdom of God.

We live in an exciting time!!!

Note the description of a fox.  I find it interesting that we now have Fox News to contend with.  Sure they are anti-liberal which is good but are they (Fox News) to be trusted?  Hardly.
