PRESIDENT-ELECT SALLY MORRIS:  BODY BAGS AND HORSES’ HEADS

If you have been listening to some of the recent hearings being held to air concerns about the integrity of our presidential election, you might be dismayed and even shocked by the level of public discourse - the out-and-out rudeness encountered by those whose sense of patriotism drove them to volunteer their time to be official observers of the election process and the all-important counting process.  Some were pushed and shoved, some were just yelled at and ordered about like stray dogs.  Some were even threatened by a worker with a sharp, pointed letter opener (if you find this difficult to believe, watch the proceedings at the Michigan hearing held yesterday in Lansing).  What have we come to in America?  I don’t know about you, but in the America in which I grew up people spoke to each other with civility, even if they were not “friendly”.  This included political rivals and those who represented opposing points of view.  In fact, sometimes we were even able to be friends.  Different points of view were tolerated, not punished.

Today, though, we find that people - chiefly those representing the Democrats - have regressed to a kind of caveman-like demeanor.  In fact, much of their behavior puts us in mind of the more grisly episodes from our graphic mafia-themed movies.  If you have been supportive of investigating the “irregularities” surrounding the 2020 presidential election, your left-wing or Democrat acquaintances may have been ridiculing you, saying, for example, “If there is all this ‘evidence’, where are these witnesses?  If Sidney Powell has all these great witnesses, why doesn’t she just tell us who they are?”  or, maybe this: “If Trump has such a great case, why are all his lawyers quitting on him?  If it weren’t baseless, they would be in there fighting, right?”  Or what about this one:  “Well, it’s all over now.  Might as well accept it - the Michigan Board of Canvassers just voted to certify the election there.  Case closed.  Why doesn’t Trump put on his ‘big boy pants’ and man up and concede?”  These remarks are intended to demoralize you - or to put it more realistically, rub your nose in your stubbornness and defeat.  Ha, ha.

Maybe even you have found this kind of news disheartening.  This and all of the twisted, partial news stories, like the one about the Trump team “rebuking” Sidney Powell, or the focus they put on Giuliani’s “hair dye” instead of world-shattering charges of wrongdoing, for example.  But there actually is a truth, albeit hidden by most of the press, which gives context to all of this.  I think if I were to use one word to sum it all up I would probably call it “thuggery”.  The Democrat party has descended into the lowest, the very lowest, levels of thuggery.

Here are a few examples, and they are also explanations for some of the above.  I will just list them with some links.  You can read more about them if you need to.

First, let’s look at why Trump has trouble keeping lawyers on his cases.  Linda Kerns, an attorney in Philadelphia, asked permission to leave the case and cease representing the president because she had been threatened and harassed by none other than the law firm - Kirkland and Ellis - that is representing the Pennsylvania Secretary of State, Kathy Bookvar.  As far as is known, Bookvar has made no comment on her representatives behavior, although the law firm did apologize when Kerns went public with it.  Another firm, Porter, Wright, et al, jumped ship after being harassed by the “Lincoln Project” - a consortium of RINOs and other leftists such as Kelly Ann Conway’s husband, the infamous and verbally abusive George Conway and a few millionaires, whose morally questionable attacks on Trump, specifically, are the eternal delight of people like James Carville and Chris Wallace.  They don’t confine their hatred to just those the media terms the “far right”, either.  One of their targets has been Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).  This group, in addition to producing unprincipled advertising piggy-backing on Hillary Clinton’s unfounded and reprehensible “Russiagate” slander, busies itself threatening to destroy lawyers’s careers and drive them out of their professions through ceaseless harassment, shaming and slander.  Who knows how far they would really go if they didn’t get the results they wanted?

Jenna Ellis, the attorney we have seen with Giuliani, heading the legal cases against election fraud, has herself been threatened with any number of odious outcomes if she doesn’t quit, including rape.  She has said she’s in for the long haul regardless.  Thank goodness for her gutsy resolve and her patriotism.

Monica Palmer, one of two Michigan canvassing board members, recounted how she and her children were threatened if she refused to sign off on what she considered an unreconciled election count.  She feared for her daughter’s safety.

Yesterday we learned that some of attorney SIdney Powell’s witnesses have been threatened.  She has explained patiently that her witnesses are in fear of losing their jobs, their friends (although why anyone wants such “friends” is beyond understanding), fear for their homes, their families, even their pets, even their lives.  One of them was found and beaten so badly that the person had to be hospitalized.  I can’t imagine how vulnerable one would feel in a hospital when an orderly comes into the room, by the way.    How far would you go in your resolve to do the right thing or tell the truth when it counts if even just your job were on the line?  This is what life in American has come down to.  We are back where we started in 1775.

It’s not just this election, by the way, that seems to bring out the ugliness on the left.  The owner of the computer repair business (ridiculed by some earlier because of his impaired vision - nice guys, those leftists), who took the “laptop from hell” - the infamous laptop reportedly chock full of lewd pictures of Hunter Biden with young girls and the tell-tale emails exposing his and his father’s illicit business with various world-class criminals in Ukraine and China - that guy - he closed his shop and disappeared.  We hope he is still alive in some undisclosed location.  No one knows.  All that remains is this smouldering case of treason and theft and a note on the door.  It is dangerous, it seems, to know certain things.

Today we see a story about “someone” (the media calls them “activists”) having left stuffed plastic body bags on the doorsteps of several Republican Senators - Inhofe, MItchell, Collins and Graham.  They were not happy about the pace of coronavirus relief.  This is how they express it.  The bags were tagged with anti-Trump messages.  Funny they didn’t think of leaving one at Nancy Pelosi’s.  Maybe her security is too tight.

This last episode recalls the unforgettable scene in The Godfather, where film producer “Jack Wolz” wakes up to find his thoroughbred’s severed head on his bed - courtesy of Don Corleone, a scene which must have left Kathy Griffin salivating.

Forget civility.  We are long past that.  Let’s just not tolerate these threats.  Nearly all have come from the left and from Democrats.  Democrats have officially been willing to libel and slander people, making up out of whole cloth wild stories about treason and collusion with Russia in our highest office, while it appears that they, not Republicans, have been doing it.  It’s not that much of a leap, then, to the sinister threats made anonymously to attorneys and public officials.  We have to wonder, then, when we hear about the strange flip-flop of Georgia Judge Timothy Batten.  He first ruled for the plaintiffs (those seeking to “freeze” the Dominion voting machines and protect information from being wiped from them).  Then he suddenly flipped and vacated his own order.  Then he flipped again.  One can imagine various scenarios.  This is speculation, but perhaps he did the right and reasonable thing first, then was threatened, maybe with the prospect of his poodle’s head on his coverlet, and then, maybe a whiff of news that Dominion is now in very hot stew itself caused him to re-think his re-think.  We may never know.  It would be too embarrassing to put in his autobiography.  But it certainly invites speculation, doesn’t it?

Civility in America has gone the way of high-button shoes, cuspidors and antimacassars.  We may never experience it again.  This is a terrible loss.  It reveals the desperation of those on the far left and their determination to destroy our culture and our way of life.  There is little civility left in places like Iran or China.  That’s how they want it here.  We should call them out when they resort to incivility.  A “friend” of mine recently posted a meme on Facebook that anyone who didn’t wear a mask was a “malicious narcissist”.  I have known this woman for several years.  Never in a million would I have expected this kind of incivility!  But there it was, without apology, and a handful of her followers parroting the theme.

We should call them out on the threats and we should also make sure that they don’t work.  Easier said than done.  Often the damage is subtle or oblique.  Usually an attorney will not admit to either taking a bribe or caving to a threat.  I know.  I have seen such attorneys at work.  If the client is small potatoes a bribe is usually enough.  When the client is important enough blackmail might be needed.  But maybe if we call it out when we see it and if we don’t shrink from telling our friends on the left that we know what is behind some of these news stories in which they take such unseemly delight, it might quit working out so well for them.  This all began with political correctness.  That morphed into cancel culture.  Now we have the Cosa Nostra.
