SALLY MORRIS:  A TIME TO ACT?

The following article reflects the author's views and not necessarily those of any other entity.

First I need to inform my readers that I am non-violent.  I oppose using violence and thuggery to accomplish an end, however worthy.  It must always be a last, a very last, resort.  Americans are now shoved up flat against the wall.  I hope we can continue to avoid violence in America.

There are some things that have happened this past weekend, however, which call for some very serious response.  Time is being compressed.  Our options as Americans are shrinking every hour.  Here are a few of the events which have transpired since last Wednesday.

  • A rally was called by President Trump to voice to Congress citizens' deep concern over an election that has been stolen.  No one can seriously doubt this last clause.  The evidence is overwhelming, it is clear, it is convincing and it is right before our eyes.  Personally, I’d have much preferred he had not done so because when you have a protest you inevitably also have Antifa and BLM.  And that is potentially disastrous.  Tat said, there is no crime in calling a gathering of citizens.  This is protected by the First Amendment.  Here is the speech he gave: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBH7ql34Ex0.  The crowd was chanting - not "death to America" or "pigs in a blanket", but "we love Trump, we love Trump" and "stop the steal".  In this speech he described his supporters as "the people who built up America, not the people who tear down America".  Not words to goad people to violence by any means.  He called on them to walk with him down to the Capitol and "cheer on our brave Congressmen and women . . . ".  You really cannot twist this into an incitement to violence.  Most of his lengthy speech was a review of the elements of fraud which we now know were present in the 2020 election, including a few deprecating remarks about a select few of those he felt had been outstanding in their failure to ensure a fair and free election, and a few words of praise for those he felt were standing up for election integrity.  I encourage you to listen to the rally speech in its entirety - I could not find any suggestion of violence.  He ended with an urging to the crowd to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue with him and to provide support and encouragement for the wavering among Republican lawmakers to stand firm for election integrity.  I have heard the speech twice.  I can find nowhere in the speech anything that could be construed as advocating for violence.

  • The rally was infiltrated by agents provocateurs - people on the “other side” who pose as Trump supporters for the camera but pursue their own ends which would attempt to implicate the Trump supporters and derail a crucial, legitimate debate wherein the Congress and Senate were intended to challenge the non-legitimate electors whose votes were cast fraudulently, in contravention of law.  They did this, with the extra events of a few deaths, shocking and tragic.

  • Immediately Congress cut short its deliberation, did not pass go but went straight to confirmation of Biden as a sort of sop.  Nevermind that what happened with Antifa had absolutely no bearing on the question before Congress - the subversion of our most important function - the choosing of the leader of the free world.  It offered them what they needed and what it was intended to provide - cover for their cowardly dereliction of duty.

  • Trump called out the National Guard and called upon his supporters to go home peacefully.  Subsequently he briefly and somberly addressed the public, calling for peace, order, healing and reconciliation.

  • Following this and for the entire weekend various members ogress and the senate, including Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell and other prominent  individuals began blaming the actions of Antifa on Trump and secondarily his followers.  Even conservative spokespeople who should know better shook their fingers at Trump supporters and lectured them on the fact that this is not how we resolve issues in America, how it was “shameful” (which it was, but not the fault of Trump or his legitimate supporters) and how we could not tolerate these voices of dissent.  Pelosi has been demanding that Vice President Pence and the Cabinet use the 25th Amendment to remove him - a measure in place in case of physical or mental disability of a president to fulfill his duties, or - alternatively - she will begin another set of impeachment procedures, the first having failed, which should be an embarrassment to the Pelosi faction.  The question here is - impeach him for WHAT?  Impeachment is for "high crimes and misdemeanors".  Trump has committed no crimes or misdemeanors.  Is dissent from Pelosi now a crime?  She thinks so.

  • Next came the hammer.  Twitter banned Trump permanently.  So he has no real voice with which to address the people of the United States.  Obviously MSNBC and their fellow alphabet soups (including Fox) were not an option.  They routinely cut him off in mid sentence and take things out of context.  Not a viable option for a sitting president during a time of acute crisis.  And make no mistake - the crisis in which we are entangled at this moment is the worst of our nation’s history - and that takes in a lot  This move by Twitter was even too much for German Chancellor Angela Merkel to stomach.  Even she condemns this level of censorship.

  • Now they moved in for the kill.  As Twitter users left in protest and opened accounts on a rival, Parler, first Apple took action to take them off of their apps.  Then Google took Parler off of their “Play Store”.  And then . . . Amazon took Parler off of their server.  Parler would go dark at midnight Sunday.  This means that just because Parler was offering a free speech platform without surveillance of its users it was being shut down.  Parler has been a magnet for conservatives because of this, but they are and have been consistently open to all comers within some basic parameters of decency.  It is not, strictly speaking, a “conservative” outlet.  This left 2 million users out to dry.

  • Facebook is locking people out of their pages - including Ron Paul, a Libertarian, not even, strictly speaking, a “conservative” and certainly not active at the moment in politics.

  • Various banks are closing accounts of high-profile conservatives, including Trump,

  • Other insults are being heaped on top - a football coach and one-time friend refuses a Medal of Freedom (frankly I think these should NOT be passed around like Halloween candy - just my own opinion; how does a highly-paid, over-indulged football coach merit this?) and a golf tournament is being taken away from one of Trump’s golf courses.

  • People are being fired and otherwise punished who simply attended the rally as private citizens.  Those who would suppress us are amplifying the attacks on those who defend freedom.  Calls are being made to disbar Rudy Giuliani - not for any wrongdoing, but because someone does not like his client.  Other lawyers are smelling the excrescence and are jumping ship, abandoning their client - clearly a breach of ethics on their part.  Two women having a private conversation on a Delta flight, positive toward Donald Trump, just talking between themselves, were put off the plane.  How does this sound to “liberals”?  Okay with you?  (More on this later.)

  • The phrase, “Stop the Steal” has been banned by Facebook.

  • Now Mozilla (Firefox) has announced it will be dismantling much of the privacy of users and has banned Gab’s “Dissenter” extension which allows free speech commentary.

With our main stream media totally in the bag for one side of the issues of the day - in other words, the communist position - and now our social media, which had been a lifeline to many Americans and a balance of sorts - all destroyed over the weekend, Americans now have no other source than the government and these rogue media moguls for “news”.  There is no way that this attack on our First Amendment was not coordinated and preplanned.  Freedom of speech ended over the weekend - our First Amendment was just erased.  None of this is legal in America.  We have some specific laws against this kind of collusion.  So, why not sue them for the damage they’ve caused to businesses?  Why not try them under the RICO Act?

I’ll tell you why.  Because our court system is just as corrupt and rotted out as most of our politicians and corporate executives.  That’s why.  And this corruption extends all the way to most of the Supreme Court Justices.  When the courts are corrupt there is simply no law.  No one is protected any longer, no one is safe.   This is why we see a tag-team effect when a rioter is arrested (rare enough to begin with).  The court sets bail and activists such as Hollywood celebrities and Kamala Harris swing into action and run down to post the bail.  Now, of course, in some jurisdictions they are planning to do away with that routine by not requiring bail in the first place.  That’s only for leftist rioters, however.  Different laws are applied to people acting in defense against violence - no free ride for Kyle Rittenhouse.  And the McCloskeys in St. Louis, who defended their property from the steps of their own home would be in the same situation were it not for the grace of God and a Republican governor who didn’t buckle to demands that they be prosecuted for not acquiescing  to become victims.  Our entire summer of 2020 was a case study in unchecked violence against the innocent and complicit government and courts.  And, besides, where would you find a lawyer?  They are all hiding under their desks and quaking for fear some former client will have fallen into disfavor.  If they can come after the President’s lawyers, what are your chances of retaining one?

Which brings us to the next big question - how do we deal with crime and corruption . . . and treason . . . in America in 2021?  None of the institutions which have safeguarded our freedom and our persons, families and property for the past 234 years is functioning now.  The Supreme Court itself refuses to look at the most important case in its history, a situation which is literally tearing the nation apart.  Instead they allow themselves to be cowed by a Chief Justice doing a Rumplestiltskin meltdown.  Boy, he must have some kind of fear.  None of these grown men and women stood up and said, “No, sir - this is our job.”  None, with the exception of two veterans - Justices Alito and Thomas.  Make no mistake - this was not a screaming fit over a decision on the merits of a case.  It was a temper tantrum thrown to try to prevent evidence from being looked at by the court and hearing the arguments.

There is a good case to be made at this point for intervention.  We are rattling downhill at an alarming rate as this year begins.  What will be next?  We have heard that the left is not coming for Trump - he’s in the way.  They are coming for us.  If you think this is hyperbole, consider Parler account holders (not to mention investors and advertisers).  I have never heard that Trump had an account or used one on Parler.  No - they are coming for you.

During the summer rioting by BLM and friends, I, like many others, thought about what Trump could do about them.  He maintained a firm federalist position throughout, believing that this was the jurisdiction of local and state government, making federal services available only upon request and offering them.  Only in Portland did he intervene at a federal level, and that was to protect federal property in the city.  For my part, I think there was a case to make that American citizens were being deprived of their Constitutional rights by rioters and I think I’d have acted to stop it with military force if necessary.  Perhaps it would not have been necessary in all cases.  In fact, had this happened within the first week of rioting in the major cities we might have ended the arson and looting sprees.

Now, it appears, there is no other way.  We have evidence which our courts refuse to hear.  Our Congress was given this information - until very recently not widely known - of members of the Italian government’s involvement in a massive attack on our election.  It involves several hostile foreign powers - in advance of their decision.  All of this in addition to two months’ worth of evidence we have all seen of massive, extensive fraud.  Then a staged “riot” took place, the exact origins of which are not clear yet, but obviously not regular Trump rally attendees, and Congress used this as an off-the-shelf excuse.  They voted to certify what they all knew was not only a fraudulent election but an assault on our country by foreign actors - thus silencing the voice, perhaps forever, of the American people.

If this treasonous act of Congress, rubber stamping what they and we all know is a false election, is allowed to stand it will mean that henceforth, our elections will be nothing but a contest of who is better at coordinating with foreign and domestic enemies to out-steal the other through sale of American policy.  If we are to remain free in the future there is something we need to do now.  What is the best course?  Congress is no good.  Courts and law are now apparently obsolete, ceremonial artifacts of an earlier age.  So where do we look for redress?

Just as during the summer, the President of the United States has some powers available only to him.  Just as in the case of the people who suffered horrendous losses throughout the lawlessness in the cities, there is a time to exercise those powers.  We have reached the edge of a precipice in America.  We may have to muscle our way back from the edge if we don’t want to take the long plunge into the abyss.  It appears that this is basically the end of the road.  It is time for the President to act to protect our country, our people and our freedom.  There has, indeed, been an insurrection.  It has been perpetrated by social media giants, foreign money and influence and treasonous elements within our government - including Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell.  It has nothing to do with party affiliation.  This is all about taking down America.  Whether you "love Trump" or not, he is now the only way back to the America defined by our Founders and our Constitution.
