SALLY MORRIS:  A VALENTINE

Friday is Valentine’s Day, and being the romantic that I am, I feel compelled to share something special.  So here goes. This is a lovely song, the most romantic love song ever - it is written to Love, itself. It is performed here by Mexico’s greatest singing artist, Jose Jose.  Here are the lyrics:

Amor, Amor

By Rafael Perez-Botija

Interpreted by Jose Jose

Donde esta el amor Where is Love?

Alguien lo ha encontrado Please, has anyone found it

por favor o no or not?

Donde puede ir Where can it be?

puede estar herido Can it be hurt?

pero no morir But not to die.

Puede estar cansado Can it be tired?

puede estar encadenado Can it be in chains?

o quizas este dormido Or perhaps it is sleeping

a la sombra de un olvido In the shadow of obvlivion

Amor, Amor Love, love

Que te pintas de cualquier color That you paint yourself whatever color

tan profundo como el viento As profound as the wind

tan lejano como el tiempo As far as time

y tan cierto como el sol As sure as the sun

Amor, amor Love, love

si me escuchas y me puedes ver If you hear me, if you can see me

no me cierres tu guarida Don’t close your doors to me

llena un poco de mi vida Fill a little of my life

llena un poco de mi ser Fill a little of my being

Donde puede estar Where can Love be

el amor que un día That one day

se llevo la mar Took the sea,

Cuando volvera When will it return

puede que no vuelva Can it be that it will never more return

nunca más quizas Perhaps

Puede estar perdido Can it be lost

puede estar desfallecido Can it be faint

quizas este sentado Perhaps it’s resting

a la puerta del pasado At the door to the past
