SALLY MORRIS:  CANADIAN EZRA LEVANT REFLECTS ON WHAT WE’VE LEARNED

This might be a good time to look for alternatives to the policies which have brought us the novel coronavirus experience.  Namely, China.

Ezra Levant has, as usual,, said it better than anyone else.  He has devoted his column yesterday to some of the things we should have learned which can inform us going forward from here.  I’m just going to take the day off and turn it over to Ezra. Here is his column. In particular, think about the American face mask producer.  He makes them for ten cents apiece, excellent quality and American - which means probably not contaminated or defective, and above all, available when we need them.  And after the crisis is over the hospitals across America will go right back to buying from China to save eight cents per mask. (I’ll bet they don’t pass that saving along to the sucker in the hospital bed either.)

I remember when I complained about the rotten quality of “Brand X” diapers they used in a hospital in Grand Forks.  I said, why don’t you get decent supplies? I was told by a hospital staff member that it was because they got them from “Brand X” for free - a sort of promotion for them.  And, no doubt, a nice tax write-off. But I noticed on their bill that they charged a high price for each one they used. The hospital can absorb the cost of American-made goods better than “Brand X” could absorb anything.

Anyway, I will leave you in Ezra Levant’s capable hands with that and a small assignment.  Call your town’s health department and demand that they require some kind of face covering - a mask or even just a scarf, when inside a public place.  If you are in your house or back yard or front porchor alone, taking a walk, or inside your car, no problem. If you are at the post office, the grocery store, the gas station, or public transportation - problem.  If others are not wearing masks you are not protected even if you are. Do this. It might save the life of a loved one or your own valuable health. And it might also get the numbers of those sick down to where we can finally return to business as usual without adverse effects.  Please do this for someone you love.

Here is Ezra Levant’s excellent piece.  (And I recommend you listen to his daily updates on Rebel Media Live Chats!)
