SALLY MORRIS:  COMPASSION FOR THE OPPRESSED, NOT THE OPPRESSORS

I realize that I have written at some length about the plight of Christians, Jews and other minorities within Islamic-controlled states throughout Africa and the Middle East, as well as nominally "Christian" countries which are being ravaged by Islamic terrorist organizations such as Boko Haram (this organization was founded and trained by Osama bin Laden).  While NGOs have actually been recruiting Muslims off the streets of places like Mogadishu, these minorities have been forgotten - in Pakistan, in Nigeria, in Bangladesh, in Iran, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Indonesia and other areas.  The horror of seeing people burned to death, having a child who is kidnapped, raped, tortured and often killed, villages destroyed, churches razed, these are everyday occurances in these places, yet America has not reached out to them, has not offered asylum to them.  No.  Rather we have continued to give preference to members of the demographic which has terrorized and oppressed them.  To what end?   So that we, too, can experience the horrors of becoming a minority in our own country with a hostile population?  Sweden has done this.  The people of Sweden are now suffering.  France has done this, as has Britain - these countries are all feeling a revulsion among their native populations against the lawlessness and abuse which has ensued from the decision to do this.  We are not there yet.  Do we want to go there?

I have watched many videos.  They paint a picture which compels our compassion for these minorities.  They also give us a clear picture of what happens when those who do not believe in freedom become a force in a formerly secular society, a tolerant society.  This is not that far away.  We could fly to these places in a day and expose ourselves to this first-hand.  We don't need to bring it home to our families, our businesses, our lives.  We can see its effects up close in these videos.  We can hear the voices of those who have experienced these events in their lives.  I have written a letter to the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, Grand Forks and Polk County representatives.  I hope they will read what I have written.  It is meant as an admonishment to help those who have been thus-far forgotten.  If you agree, please contact your representatives.  Confront your pastor if he or she is one of those inclined to help anyone but a Christian or Jew.  Impress them with the truth.  Require them to watch these videos.  There can be no good from importing people into our midst who would do what they have done in their own homelands.  Calling them "refugees" is a lie and an insult to those who have been harmed by them.

The "nice Muslim family" you may know was just fine at home.  They were in the majority.  They were not being persecuted for their faith.  Not at all.  If they were not a "part of the problem", you can also be sure that they were not the victims of persecution anywhere.  They should be invited to apply to immigrate to America in the normal way, not be given a short-cut, not be allowed to come here without knowing about their personal backgrounds.  This is not unreasonable.  Tell your pastor.  If he or she is wrong, don't be afraid to speak up.  In Bismarck such pastors caused a county commission to go against the other people and against its own judgment.  Pastors have no right to bully either their congregations, their county commissioners or the other people in a community in order to feel good about themselves or virtue-signal.  This is what happened in Bismarck and it will continue to happen as long as we give these pastors a preferred "moral status" in our deliberations.  Please consider all sides of this issue and contact your county commissioners and if you agree that we should help those really in need, not merely jump on board with Lutheran Social Services and other NGOs which are totally indiscriminate and take the path of least resistance.  Let them know how you feel about this.  We are not yet in the trouble that is destroying Europe, but there is no reason why we could not be in 15 years' time.  On the other hand, we could do some real good for innocent people who are truly suffering.  Let that be our choice.  If you live in Burleigh County, contact your county commissioners and urge them to make the acceptance of refugees contingent upon their actual proof of having been persecuted, not to simply accept what LSS dumps on your doorstep.  Ask them to give preference to some group such as Pakistani Christians.

Here is my letter.  It includes a few of many, many videos which make quite clear the case for what I propose.  Feel free to share this and feel free to tell me if you think I'm wrong!

I'm aware that the President has left the matter of dealing with placement of immigrants up to local jurisdictions - in this case the counties.  There are many in need of assistance. Governor Walz has said that Minnesota will be open to immigration. Undoubtedly Polk County will want to do something to alleviate suffering of refugees.  But I hope that in its deliberation, the county will consider perhaps not the usual pathway to helping those in need, but rather look to those who have been forgotten.

It is the American way to help refugees and give them shelter and perhaps a permanent home.  But a "refugee" is one who has fled his homeland because of persecution - especially religious persecution.  One who leaves his homeland in order to find more favorable conditions economically is not a refugee, but a migrant.  While migrants are not by definition "bad", they are not being persecuted for their faith in their homelands. Muslims are the majority in the lands from which they come and those who have migrated to other areas, such as Europe can in no way claim that they are "persecuted" in those areas either.  If we are to give help and shelter and perhaps a home to "refugees" we should look instead at the forgotten ones - the Christians who have been driven out of Africa and the Middle Eastern nations, Jews who have been driven out, Hindus who are threatened daily in their homelands. These people need our help.  They are praying for help from someone. Let Polk County be a part of the answer to their prayer.

I would ask that Polk County, Crookston and East Grand Forks seek to provide assistance in whatever ways we can to these people.  Please read the following article. Hungary has been maligned for their refusal to become a depot for opportunistic migrants but they have sought to help those in real need, whose homes have been stolen, daughters kidnapped, whose churches, synagogues and temples of worship have been razed or vandalized, whose pastors have been murdered by ISIS and Boko Haram.  Let's be a part of the effort to help these people who are truly in need.
