SALLY MORRIS: EXTRA! EXTRA! HEY, LOOK AT THE HEADLINES!
Just a sort of round-up of semi-related stories from around the internet today.

On the no-end-in-sight covid stories, Queen Elizabeth made an unusual public appearance to tout the covid vaccines, lashing out at everyone who thinks it prudent to wait for more proof of safety and efficacy before signing on as unpaid guinea pigs, calling them “selfish”. If we are to believe the British press, the Queen and Prince Phillip got vaccinated somewhere around January 9. If it was the real thing and not a harmless placebo, this could account for the sudden critical illness of the heretofore health-as-a-horse Phillip. It has been considered a sort of mystery, in that he has never in his long life been in a hospital for such an extended period of time. His condition apparently warranted a transfer to another hospital. No matter. You’re just a fselfish coward if you don’t want to put your own life and health on the line here. And you can bet we won’t ever hear the truth about what is ailing him.
Meanwhile former country star Dolly Parton made a bid for the spotlight once more by shilling for Moderna, even updating one of her “hits” (“Jolene”) to sell the untested and thus far reasonably deadly vaccine. We should listen to her. Not. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am running out of patience with celebrities trying to shame the rest of us. If they have adverse reactions, ending up disabled, at least they will be able to afford the round-the-clock personal care to help feed them, carry them to the bathroom, wipe their chins and call 9-11 when they go into seizures. And their estates can afford to pay for the funerals. Sorry, Dolly. Not buyin’.
On the cheerier side, numerous states are dropping the infernal and unhealthy mask mandates. Long past due. North Dakota is halfway there. The bill ending them is now headed to the Senate. Please send the ND Senate your encouragement to support the mask mandate ban. Minnesota may be heading further into the darkness, with proposals to make Walz’s mask mandate law. Contact the members of the Minnesota House and let them know this is a terrible idea and a major step backward in the long road back to normal life.

One good thing came out of the Senate’s Covid Relief discussion - Senator Ron Johnson insisted that the massive bill be read out in full. It took over 11 hours. No bill should be able to go forward without being read out in full for the public and the members of Congress who will vote on it - and every one of them should be required to be in the chamber to listen to the whole thing. When a bill takes 11 hours to read it need not be said that it is too long. No bill should include more than its stated intention. If we ever want to get rid of the pork and the dance lessons for the leaders of Timbuktu, and the funding of studies of gay life in some Muslim-ruled outback, we need to force everyone to hear the whole thing. Good for Senator Johnson on this one. If anything embarrasses the Democrats in this bill I think we should all hear it. The entire Constitution of the United States has held up for over 250 years now. Including amendments, it runs about 20 pages. Meanwhile, there is some evil brewing in the House - HR1, an all-out effort to institutionalize election fraud and other mischief.

Well, so far, the “armed insurrection” of supposed Trump supporters on January 6 seems to be revealed for what it actually was - about a million-and-a-half peaceful citizens with nothing more dangerous than MAGA hats and little American flags. No guns were found among them. Scary, right? We all know who the real thugs are. After weeks of nail-biting and anxiety on the part of the paranoid Left in Washington over the expected “armed insurrection” planned for March 4 (the constitutional inauguration day), maintaining a high alert and a contingent of thousands of National Guard troops in the capitol, miles of razor wire that might better have been employed on the border, four peaceful Trump supporters showed up, three gentlemen and a lady, armed to the teeth with MAGA hats . . . and tiny American flags. Again, is this fear on the Left really another case of projection? Of course, when they are embarrassed it’s usually manifest in their doubling down on the accusations. We’ll see.

One of war-torn Portland’s distinguished leaders, Jo Ann Hardesty, who rose to fame last summer through an altercation she had with a Lyft driver (she started a fight and then refused to exit the vehicle), is back in the news. This time she allegedly rear-ended someone while texting, left the scene and has been hiding out in her apartment. Last summer she was demanding that the useless mayor of that city hand over control of the police department - yeah, the department she was leading the charge to defund.

In the spirit of unity, the crumbling Joe Biden referred to those who beg to disagree with his pointless and unscientific - and harmful - mask mandate fetish as “Neanderthal”. I would, on the other hand, be too polite to refer to him as a senile old geezer, but I would take a different view on mask wearing. His incoherence is causing some concern. At a press conference his feed was cut and the White House logo put on the screen when he said he was about to take questions. He made note of the fact a week ago while in Texas to review the storm damage that he didn’t really know where he was. This guy supposedly has the nuclear codes. This not only has Nancy Pelosi scared witless, but imagine the leaders of the rest of the world.

Children continue to be abused: Johnson & Johnson rolled out its version of the vaccine and it contains material from fetuses. One of kids’ favorite authors, Dr. Seuss was banned - it seems his whimsical non-human characters are now deemed “racist”. Well, small wonder, that. Our youngest kids are being taught that white babies and toddlers are also “racist”. We are institutionalizing racism and using children to do it. If all this were not enough, prospective Health secretary, “Rachel” (RIchard) Levine refused to answer Senator Rand Paul’s questions as to protecting young kids from hormone replacement and surgical mutilation. Our kids are the future and we are abusing them in every possible way.

The #The MeToo squad is now after Governor Andrew Cuomo, with a third accusation out now. It seems that killing 10,000 elderly New Yorkers didn’t make a dent in the Emmy Award winning knight, but at least someone is. It doesn’t seem to work as well for the victims of Joe Biden
As Walter Kronkite used to say, “And that’s the way it is. March 5, 2021.”
