SALLY MORRIS:  GETTING GRETA TO MADRID

Forget “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” or “Where’s Waldo?”  We know where Greta Thunberg is and it’s not Madrid.

Teenage “climate activist” Greta Thunberg has found herself on the wrong side of the planet.  Somehow the vicissitudes of Chilean politics and street warfare have resulted in moving the COP25 Climate Summit from Santiago, where Greta expected to dominate the gathering, to Madrid, Spain.  It is a perfect encapsulation of what is wrong with these “climate change activists” - Greta and the whole gang of them. Not only has everyone “stolen” Greta’s dreams, now they have left her high and dry in the Western Hemisphere.  And what of the summit? What will they do over there in Madrid without someone to scold them?

Never mind that the science does not back up their claims of imminent disaster, and that as time goes by we can see that their warnings have been completely off-base and in error.  Never mind that these “errors” or “miscalculations” are generally ignored by these activists and that in the meantime they are destroying other people’s dreams - the dreams they had of being employed, paying their bills, living in a heated d house they are trying to pay off.  But only Greta’s dreams are really important here, so let’s put our heads together and see if anyone can help her to solve her dilemma.

She is stuck thus far because she refuses to fly.  That’s because of emissions. That’s why she sailed on the high-tech, super-duper yacht last month.  She is ok with taking a train. That is odd, because the rest of us who went to real school and not protest school, know that trains are great emitters of fumes.  They use a lot of fuel. But maybe not in Sweden? Maybe in Sweden where so much has been perfected, trains are able to zip around the Scandinavian peninsula without so much as a puff of smoke.  But here they do make a lot of smoke and they tend to stink of diesel emissions. It doesn’t matter to Greta at the moment anyway because of course she can’t catch a train to Madrid, right? She has put out a call for help.  Anyone out there with a non-motorized yacht? I think we should all work on this. It is to our advantage to get Greta back home and back in schoooooool. I, for one, can hardly wait. So what about starting a cooperative effort, like a game sort of thing:  GET GRETA TO MADRID. The rules are that you can use nothing which burns any fuel.

This is an illustration of why these climate activists are nothing but elitist cynics.  They don’t care about the planet or about “climate change”. Maybe they don’t believe it themselves and just use it to manipulate the idiots like poor Greta and maybe the kids in your local middle schoooooool.  That is most likely the case. If these people cared about emissions, hundreds of them would not be getting tickets to travel to Santiago, Chile, or Madrid, Spain. Here’s a hot tip: we have the internet. They could do this via their laptops.  We have smartphones. They could do this on a massive conference call. They could do this the way distance learning is done - through some kind of mass communication “class”. I know! They could think “globally” and act “locally”! We watch the World Series that way.  But the fact that they use these “climate summits” to provide an excuse for an exotic vacation for themselves should be enough to tell us that they are not serious about their fear for the planet.

That is why Leonardo de Caprio runs around the world in jets picking up awards.  It’s why phonies like Arnold Schwarzenegger pose for climate change activism while collecting muscle cars (which no doubt he drives around in) and why little Greta Thunberg, the product of a privileged lifestyle, grandstands at the prow of a state-of-the-art yacht, telling the rest of us that her dreams have been stolen - by the rest of us who are trying to put enough gas in our cars to get to work so we can pay our rent or our house note and heat said home.

These spoiled brats - whether they are 15 or 85 - are working overtime to steal my dreams.  So let’s try to get Greta home and back in schoooool. That she is being exploited by the climate change industry is shameful enough, but at least she is enjoying herself and has someone to chew out over her stolen dreams, and it looks like she’s getting to see the world.  The rest of us can only dream of that while we stir up our macaroni and cheese on one burner in our chilly kitchen tonight. If these “climate change activists” get their way we will all be stranded just like Greta.

Let’s hear from you - what is your favorite plan for getting poor little Greta safely home?  Or at least to Madrid? And remember - no fuel.
