SALLY MORRIS:  THE HEADBANGERS BAWL - THE CURIOUS REACTION TO A POLITICAL DECISION

It is post-election weekend!  As the result of a massive turnout of voters Trump prevailed.  Now that it is over, all but for Nevada and Arizona, the wailing has begun on the Left.  The theme seems to be “How?  How could you vote for Trump?”  - accompanied by dire predictions about how now we will start seeing the rounding up of those who did not support him, incarceration, blah, blah, blah.

We’re not surprised to hear this - after all, Trump has been labeled “Hitler” and his supporters “Nazis” and “fascists” for years now.  The interesting thing in this, however, is the weird projection that is going on.

Trump is “Hitler”?  A “fascist” who will be rounding up his opponents and throwing them into camps?  Yes - we’ve all heard this one.  On the other hand, Trump supporters have voiced similar fears should Harris win.  So is it all equal, we are all in this?  Well, no.  The problem with the Leftist charges is that objective reality gets in the way.  You see, we actually have facts to go on here.  Who has been rounded up?  Trump served as President for four years.  He made a lot of mistakes, of course.  His handling of “covid” was an unmitigated disaster which was continued, expanded and enhanced by Biden subsequently.  But what about this “fascist” rounding up?  It never happened.  What DID happen, though, was the rounding up of Trump’s supporters immediately upon Biden’s swearing in, and throwing THEM - men, women, the elderly, into prisons.  Thousands of them.  Many never charged with specific crimes, most held without legal counsel, without bail, mistreated, humiliated and criminally neglected in their prison cells, some in solitary confinement, some ill, and some have committed suicide there.  THAT is OBJECTIVE FACT.  It’s not rumor, it’s not imagination, it’s not hearsay - it is a reality.  I have not heard of Biden’s supporters or Hillary’s supporters being imprisoned.

“But Trump incited an insurrection!”  we have been told.  We could choose to believe this also, but it would fly in the face of history and truth, because Trump did not incite anything of the kind.  He called upon his followers and supporters to peacefully assemble and march peacefully and respectfully to the steps of the Capitol and voice their request to hold the recount that at least one swing state called for.  Wisconsin’s legislature had requested Pence to not certify the election until the vote could actually be verified.  Instead, agents provocateurs in the pay of the United States government broke windows, beat people up, breached the Capitol building; Capitol Police escorted protesting citizens into the building, where they peacefully walked between velvet ropes, holding their flags and admiring statues - they were in “their” house, after all.  The only fatalities were victims of the government agents’ beatings and a young female veteran who was shot point-blank in cold blood by one of the Capitol Police plainclothesmen.  So much for an “insurrection” led by Trump.  He had offered Nancy Pelosi the National Guard to help keep things orderly - she rejected it.  He asked his supporters to go home peacefully.  Most of them left immediately and did go home.  Many of them were later hunted down by the FBI and jailed.  Two men, the leaders of the Oath Keepers, an organization of police officers, first responders, sheriffs and others, whose mission is to hold elected officials to account for their loyalty to the Constitution and call attention to those who subvert it or fail to uphold it, were not even there on January 6, but nevertheless they w arrested and convicted of “seditious conspiracy” and other related charges.  Kelly Meggs is  now serving 12 years and Elmer Stewart Rhodes is serving 18 years with 3 more years of “supervision”.   For perspective, Edmund Dantes was held in the Chateau d’If for a mere 14 years.  So who are the real “fascists” - objectively speaking?

Meanwhile, violent rioting had been the hallmark of the entire summer of 2020 - cities burned, people terrorized, hundreds died.  Minneapolis, the epicenter of the rioting and its point of beginning, was under the administration of Governor Tim Walz himself - Harris’s pick for Vice President.  Walz’s wife, equally demented, said she loved the smell of burning tires so much that she opened her windows to let the odor in.  Kamala Harris, the choice of the Democrats, was busy all that year raising money to bail out the violent offenders - rapists, arsonists, murderers, assaulters.  But no one has received any kind of clemency who simply showed up and carried placards in support of Donald Trump.  We should all hope that once in office he will correct this.

The Democrats, beginning with Biden and then taken up by Harris, claimed that “democracy is on the ballot” in 2024, meaning that a Trump victory would spell the end of said democracy.  Democracy, however, was served well in the 2024 election.  Trump won an electoral college landslide as well as a popular majority of the vote.  So we can’t really allow that argument either.

Jimmy Kimmel listed all of those who “lost” the election the next night.  He included “freedom of speech” in his list of losers.  But where is the truth here?  Again, the reality, the objective truth, is that the Democrats have been proven to have coerced  social and other media to censor the articles and comments and videos of any who did not sufficiently support the government’s narrative.  Just the other day, members of The View, ABC’s daily feminist propaganda program, told viewers that speech must be better “regulated”.  How do you do that - regulate speech?  Regulate the internet, the media?  Somehow this “regulation” does not sound like “freedom of speech”.  Rather, one of Trump’s most feared and loathed supporters, Elon Musk, bought Twitter so as to disencumber it from speech restrictions.  He, himself, is often criticized on “X”, the reformed Twitter.  Freedom of speech is indeed indispensable to a free people and a free nation, but it is not to be found flourishing among the Democrats.  It is being kept alive on the contrary, by those on the right - Musk, Kennedy, Trump, Gabbard, et al.  Who was it that smeared doctors and stripped them of position and licenses, when they opposed mass administration of experimental “vaccines”, warned about adverse reactions, and what about these doctors’ rights and duties to administer alternative treatments and drugs known to be helpful, such as Ivermectin?  Where was this “free speech”?  What about those of us who opposed the prosecution of the Ukraine war?  Or voiced opposition to Hamas?  And what about those “election deniers”?  After all, disputing election results is a time-honored tradition in America.  Does anyone deny that Lyndon Johnson’s Ballot Box 13 was illegitimate?  Maybe it is okay to deny an election result if nothing can be done about it.  Although, we don’t remember Hillary being threatened or silenced because she denied Trump’s victory in 2016.

If we can’t have an open discourse on issues like immigration, crime, our economy, foreign wars, etc., we cannot pretend to have a free country and we cannot claim to be self-governing.  It’s as simple as that.  Because if speech is “regulated” a la The View, we are no longer capable of informing ourselves.  If we are not informed we cannot choose wisely and thus we cannot govern ourselves.  So much for “The View” and the harridans who use it to tell us what to think.

Sunny Hostin asserted vehemently that Trump won because of “misogyny”, and when Alyssa Farrah Griffin dared to disagree, saying that issues of public safety were more compelling to voters, there ensued such a verbal brawl that Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to referee.  The objective reality is that people living on the Texas border live with terror every day.   One would be hard-pressed to find anyone who voted out of a sense of “misogyny”.  It is not “misogynistic” to advocate for the unborn, to find Minnesota’s abortion laws barbaric in that they allow for abortion surviving infants to die of neglect on a cold slab, medical workers denied the opportunity to help them.  That, too, is an objective reality.  It is denied, but it is true.

Yet these people on the Left who are banging their heads into doorways, steering wheels and tables, who are shaving their heads “in protest”, who are screaming at their video cameras and smashing their (expensive, large, flat-screen) televisions, really believe the lies they have been told, even despite having survived intact four years of an earlier Trump presidency.  Why?  What is wrong with them?  Well, obviously, they are deeply disturbed in the first place.  Normal people express their disappointment in more normal ways.  My own first experience of political activism was Barry Goldwater’s campaign, in 1964.  I can tell you that for a kid, this first political defeat was profound.  However, despite my own belief that this election could be the “last meaningful one” in America, I know for sure I did not try to crack my head open on a countertop, I didn’t run out in traffic or scream.  It’s not normal to do those things, even when one is deeply disappointed.

Obviously they believe some very weird things.  I would say there are two reasons for this.  One is that our current middle-aged and younger generations have virtually no education.  I mean that despite many of them holding college degrees, they are not educated or informed.  They have not learned objective history at all.  They do not know what the Nazis did.  If they knew that the first thing Nazis did was to intimidate and misinform their own people so as to make them compliant with their larger plans, perhaps these people could see the parallels in America in 2024.  The intimidation is there.  The silencing of opposition is there.  The misinformation and outright lies are there.  In our case, it would be far easier to find the truth via podcasts and alternative media of all sorts, but no one looks because they are in the thrall of the so-called “legacy media” - MSNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and public broadcasting (NPR).

I have noticed that NPR, for example, like the TV channels, uses words like “insurrection” for the demonstration on January 6, not “alleged insurrection” or “protest”.  They refer to the “baseless claims” of Trump and others regarding election integrity.  They don’t say “alleged election denier”, they just allege it .  They repeatedly refer to Trump as “convicted felon”, when we should all know better, especially those reporting this in the media.

Our schools, from daycare to postgraduate school are nothing but indoctrination centers where kids and young adults are taught every day that these things are facts.  They are counseled to seek “safe spaces” rather than hold open debate on vital issues.  Professors who do not defer to this narrative are shut down and sent packing.  Students who object or bring their own opinions or objectivity into the classroom are punished for it.  So when a 20-something goes off on a tantrum and videos it and posts it of her screaming, crying, threatening to harm herself or others, or some young guy bitterly tells us through his tears that inflation isn’t real and we should just get “educated” and get a better-paying job, we can blame our schools and our media for their delusions.

Delusion and lies are remarkably effective.  We might consider the realm of North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.  He has withheld from his people any access to or knowledge of the internet, for example.  The people of North Korea are told, and must needs believe, that the “internet” is nothing but a hoax.  They believe there is no such thing as the “internet”.  They have also been taught that eating wood chips and sawdust is a healthy diet, providing all the needed nutrition.  Yeonmi Park, a young woman who escaped from North Korea at the age of 13, tells us that Kim has told his people that he can fly, that he can read their minds and knows what they are thinking.  Well, it is not that hard to tell these whoppers and be believed if there is no such thing as alternative sources of information.  This is not unlike what Harris does when she calls Trump a “Nazi”, when the Democrats tell us that “democracy is on the ballot”, when Oprah Winfrey tells us that if we elect Trump “we may never be able to cast a ballot again”.  And although some of us seek out alternate sources and try to verify the objective reality, others do not - they rely on government narratives and their derivatives and hear what they want to hear.

This is exactly why we cannot afford to lose our First Amendment rights.  They are there to protect the speech that the government doesn’t like or denies.  They are there to protect so-called “hate speech”.  There is no exemption other than not to call for illegal acts or behavior or to incite panic (yelling “fire!” in a crowded theater).  But in matters of expressing opinions or questioning others’ opinions or reports, there is no limit.  And there should not be.

All of this self-inflicted harm and angst among the Left, especially the youth, is a direct result of hearing only lies, of not questioning them, and of acting on them.  We should perhaps feel sorry for these people, self-deprived of objective information as they are, but it is they, really, who are to blame for their own deficiencies.

On the other hand, Harris has given us every evidence of strong Marxist leanings.  Her V.P. choice, Tim Walz, has long had strong ties to the government of China.  The repeated slogans instead of constructive discussion of policy should have made everyone suspicious or at least very cautious.  Price controls?  When has that worked?  The open border is her policy and that hasn’t worked.  Censorship (“regulation”) would be a disaster for freedom.  A foreign policy of submission to “new world order” organizations such as the UN, WHO, Agenda 2030, etc., or “defense” treaties such as NATO would eventually cause loss of our national sovereignty.  Our economy is becoming fragile and threadbare.  We spent $106 billion on Ukraine.  Our budget is $175 billion.  Most of our  national treasure is going into endless foreign wars.  While Harris prates on about Trump ending Social Security and Medicare, inflation has been robbing us of that for years.  You cannot run foreign wars endlessly, shoveling our tax dollars to places around the world on this scale, print money to cover it and not end with devastating inflation.  Inflation is a very polite sounding world.  If you don’t understand its effects, go to a history book and study the rise of the real Hitler - it happened because the German Mark reached the point of worthlessness.  You had to take wheelbarrows full of them to try to buy a loaf of bread.  In more recent times we have heard about the Zimbabwe currency and that of Venezuela.  This creates true misery.

We should be very grateful that our election not only delivered us from these dire outcomes - at least we have a chance of avoiding them now - but also that it was a popular vote victory, that our Congress and Senate will support the needed reforms.  We should try as best we can to introduce more balanced news to the people who are melting down today because they did not get their way - it looks childish and it is unproductive.  We should further hope that Trump will dodge the fatwa imposed by Iran, and once in office will take better advice with regard to his cabinet, the judiciary and let’s hope do away with a lot of the bureaucracy.  There is a massive cleaning up to do and it will probably consume most of Trump’s term.
