SALLY MORRIS:  LEVIN DOES HIS ELECTION-YEAR FOLD

Mark Levin has done his customary fold.  He does this every election year.  Remember?  He did it last  time around too.   But this time with a little twist.  He has said he is voting for Trump, and by his open declaration here (which the wiser ones among us already anticipated – just wondered about the timing) he is in effect, exhorting the rest of us to follow his lead.  But then he says, “I take no responsibility for what Trump says or what his surrogates say.”  Sorry, Mark, but you can’t get off that easily.

If all you did was to say, as Ted Cruz did, to vote your conscience, and you would do the same, you could not be faulted for making a bad decision where there really was no good one.  But you didn’t do that.  You used your national platform to make a formal announcement.  This is tantamount to an endorsement, which is asking others to vote for the man.

Why you would choose to do so is entirely up to you.  There is no gainsaying what you might decide to do in a voting booth confronted by two disgusting choices.  There is always voting down ticket and not choosing between the presidential candidates.  There is always that option.  But that is up to you.  When you take to the airwaves to make a public announcement you have announced that you are now on his team.  You own him, Mark.  Don’t put a sneaky little postscript on there, “oh, and by the way, I don’t take responsibility for this guy (he’s not with me)”.  That is trying to have it both ways.  If you are endorsing the guy, come right out and own him publicly.  This mugwumpery is beneath you.  THERE!  I SAID IT!!!  And I meant it.
