SALLY MORRIS:  MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

As most of us sit at home trying to keep ourselves busy and sane, waiting for things to improve, it is impossible not to ponder what should be the fate of China when this is all over.  The Chinese obviously assume things will go on as usual.

No one seems to have noticed, but so far China has not ventured to apologize for its massive scuttling of the economies of the entire world, the impact on the health of more than a million people so far and tens of thousands of deaths to date.  Instead they wax belligerant, accusing other countries of what they have done themselves and alternately playing “humanitarian”, “aiding” countries they’ve harmed through their criminal behavior, whether deliberate or simply negligent and incompetent.

On February 9, Canada shipped 16 tons of face masks and other protective gear as a donation to China, presumably for their people, their medical personnel, etc., to help fight the virus.  No one was consulted - it was simply an executive decision on the part of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. It is not widely appreciated at home because it now appears that the Canadians have no protection for their own people now.  The answer? About the same as Trump’s team’s answer in the U.S. - the government officials tell us we don’t need them and they don’t help, which would make more sense if they had not been deemed useful by the Canadians and Chinese when they were donated to the Chinese.  If they are not useful in this, why send them anywhere?

Of course we aren’t that stupid.  Most of us take with a grain of salt whatever any government tells us about anything.  We know it is mostly self-serving twaddle at best and maliciously harmful at worst. In the case of the Trump administration it would appear self-serving.  We didn’t have enough masks for people to protect themselves, so the word is put out that they would not protect us. Which is false. We know it is false because countries which are avoiding the economic calamity of a forced shut-down, like Taiwan, are doing so by protecting citizens by enforcing rules about wearing masks. The Czech government has also picked up on this.  We, on the other hand, have sat like a duck in a shooting gallery on the midway, pants down, to mix a metaphor, with no masks or other preparedness. Granted, it would have been difficult to imagine the scale of this health disaster a week before it happened. But that’s why guys like Fauci get the big bucks. Now, unready to respond effectively, they posture, ordering us to “stock up” on food as though we could afford it, tell us not to go into a grocery store for “two weeks” and, by the way, don’t worry about masks.  They don’t help. Oh. Woops. They do! Now we are supposed to wear them in public. Except there aren’t any and most stores are closed so it is difficult to buy the supplies to make them if we are handy enough to do that.

But back to China.  They accepted another donation at the beginning of their outbreak in Wuhan.  Italy sent them tons of face masks and protective wear. They didn’t realize that they would soon be devastated by the virus they imported, like fools, from China, via their intense traffic with China.

Italy was targeted by China as its foothold in Europe.  China would like to control Europe. I suppose from any vantage point, no one could do a worse job than the E.U. of serving Europe’s interests, so, they figured, here is our opportunity.  Where Russia was unable to hold onto Europe, China would swoop in and take over on the important part - the economy. Italy fell for China’s line, like a simple schoolgirl about to be taken advantage of.  Italian manufacturers, largely in northern Italy, Lombardy, began hiring cheap Chinese labor under a special trade agreement with their old friend China. It is possible that this was not the will of the people, but of influential and wealthy manufacturers and a left-leaning government.  It certainly had to have eroded employment of Italian workers. But it began a big-brother relationship with China. Low-wage workers are in surplus in China under their exploitative communitist government and these manufacturers were greedy enough to want Chinese workers to make things in Lombardy tagged, “made in Italy ''.  So much for “made in Italy”. What they managed to do was to downgrade their valued brand.

The Chinese workers maintained their close ties with family and government in China, despite their employment in Italy and travel was frequent and heavy between the two.  When word got out late last year that China had an epidemic of a serious virus in Wuhan, Italy came forward to donate massive amounts of supplies. Well, now that China has reached the “we have it under control” or the “we don’t care” point in their fight, they are ready to part with the supplies.  Their modus operandi is to trumpet to the world that they are supplying vast “aid” to poor Italy. They are “donating” supplies to Italy to help them out. Except they aren’t. Italy is paying in advance and a high price for these goods. China is lying. Surprise.

If an individual behaved like this you would not see so many fuzzy-brained leftist fools rushing to defend them.  Look at what they’ve done. There’s no need to repeat it, but from the most humble grandmother to world leaders, to the economies of major world powers, China has brought us destruction in return for efforts to establish constructive and friendly relations with them.  It is time to reflect on this. Trump is considering - or reconsidering - the $58 million we have been supporting the WHO with, inasmuch as that organization has revealed itself as a puppet of the Chinese communist government. He is getting encouragement along these lines by Congress.   We should all encourage this.  (The Congressional switchboard number is 202-224-3121.)  The head of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is a veteran terrorist, having ties with some of the most violent communist organizations.

In all honesty, however, we should not concentrate 100% of our anger and resentment on China or the WHO, who deserve a large portion of it, but reserve a good amount of it for the leftists who have promoted policies which have enabled and emboldened China and other malefactors to act out their anti-social agendas.  The people who tweet endlessly about “racism” when there is a call to limit or control access to our country. The people who try to find a way to put a pretty spin on the ugliness of the Chinese government and leadership (I include Trump’s complimentary bromides to Xi Jinping with these). We need to let such people know that they are not actually holier that we, that they are patently wrong.  We should have a duty first to our own people and culture and then to those who do not seek to destroy us. We don’t need to prop up or “pretty up” these communist monsters. There is good and there is evil. The government of China is - and has always been - evil. It was evil when Nixon pandered to them, evil as the Bushes and Obama continued to pander, evil back when the Clintons were treasonously providing them with uranium and it is evil now - it is evil now, when Trump makes pleasantries with their leader.  Their leader, Mr. Trump, is out to destroy us.

When I contemplate the whole picture it reminds me of the Agatha Christie story, Murder on the Orient Express.  If you read it (or saw one of the movie versions of it) you will recall that the “victim” was such a hateful and despicable villain that virtually everyone on the train had a motive to murder him.   I will leave it to you to read it or watch it if you haven’t already. Suffice it to say, the guy got what was coming to him. So it might be with China. Who has reason to despise the Chinese government?  Well, Italy. Spain. Canada. U.K., the Czech Republic and Hungary. France. Germany. The Netherlands, South America, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, Mexico.  Taiwan. Turkey. The United States. Everyone who has lost a job, his health, a loved one., a home, a business. Perhaps most of all, the people of China. How long can this corrupt, evil and tacky government stand? One thing is certain.  Those who have been harmed by this miserable entity need to rid the world of it. By whatever means is required. Until that rotted, reeking pile of a government is closed down, no civilized nation should work with them - we should close our trade with them, shun them in every possible way and give whatever moral support we can to those who will overthrow them.  And the nations of the world should collectively decide that no one owes them anything - the Coronavirus they unleashed to effect our destruction forecloses that debt.
