SALLY MORRIS: RUSH - “PADDY O’BAMA” IS INSULTING

Rush - I am not only a "long-time listener", I am also a long-time activist for the Conservative cause.  I write for a Conservative current events magazine (The Dakota Beacon) which you should really subscribe to in that it is what I term the "National Review of the Midwest".  I have facilitated the first local tea party event and have been involved in the planning of numerous public events for tea party patriots and other civic-minded citizens.  I began my own "political activism" at age 14 with the Barry Goldwater campaign and have never given up.  At one time I served as a very young precinct committeeman and was chairman of two state convention committees in my early 20's.  I have been involved at every stage of an election campaign at the local level, where real politics begins.

Having established my credentials, I now take issue with your "Paddy" Obama campaign.  I find this extremely offensive.  Just WHO are you trying to insult?  If it is Obama, calling him "Irish" should not be an insult.  If you are trying to insult the Irish people, you are doing a fine job of it.  Now, as an American of Irish heritage, as was Ronald Reagan, I see no reason why we Americans should dump on the Irish.  Regardless of the mistakes they have made over time - as we have - politically, these people have suffered enough over the centuries.  They have risen above the most gross oppression lasting 800 years.  They never gave up.  They are not only a land of "saints and scholars", they have produced some of the most noble and fearless patriots who paid in life's blood for their freedom, just as did Americans.  Lumping them with "Paddy O Bama" simply because he can afford, on our tab, to go and raise a glass of Guinness in a Dublin pub, is hardly reason to insult the Irish people.  Take it back, Rush!  He is no more "Irish" than he is "Hawaiian".  He is a fraud wherever he goes.  But the American people are the goats who elected him.  Don't call him "Paddy"!  I hope you are big enough to admit this was wrong.
