SALLY MORRIS: SOMETIMES IT TAKES COURAGE
I’m not going to embellish this linked video with an article. I will simply preface it with a message to those to whom religious freedom is paramount and who might still be conflicted as to how to cast their votes on Tuesday. A couple of good friends sent this. It is specifically addressed to Catholics, but it applies to us all if we care about our First Amendment rights - which encompass our right to worship freely. Fr. Ed Meeks is a particularly courageous priest. He is committed to the teachings of his faith and to defending them and our right to observe them. I hope you will watch this (if you haven’t time for the entire homily, start at 9:15, but it is all interesting). And above all, share this. For many, many years, people have been more or less locked into a pattern of voting for one party or the other. TImes have changed - at least the parties’ positions have changed - a great deal since the “old days”. We are now in an existential struggle to survive as a free and moral people in America.
