Today I found in my email the latest from Gatestone Institute.  They study events and policies with an emphasis on Europe and quite often supply some valuable insight into developments there.  The story today is about Sweden:  "Sweden Spinning Out of Control".  Maybe you're not shocked by the headline - I wasn't, to be honest.  But I must say that reading some of the statements of the people of Sweden, members of their parliament and others, does give this dimenstion and make it real.  It only seems "ho-hum" because it isn't in our country quite yet.  When we see the effects of these disastrous policies on the people themselves, in their everyday lives, we need to consider that it will happen here just as it has there if the Left gets its way in America.

Obviously Sweden made a colossal mistake in throwing open the gates to migration from Africa and the Middle East.  The people pouring in are not assimilable in Sweden and they have no interest in Sweden or Swedish culture.  Quite the contrary - they see Swedish culture as something to obliterate and Swedish law something to flout.  Women and girls are no longer safe to walk down the street in their hometowns.  So Islamic culture has taken the dominant role there.  If a Swedish woman wants to walk to the corner she will need a chaperone, just as she would in Saudi Arabia or Burkina Faso or Yemen.  

Sweden, you might recall, also appointed as the head of their National Heritage Board a Pakistani-born Muslim whose mission he sees as establishing a narrative that Muslim immigrants are "part of something" in Sweden.  (Indeed, it does look as though "some" Muslims have done "something" in Sweden.)  He openly admits he has read nothing at all of Swedish culture.  One wonders why Sweden maintains a "heritage board" in the first place.  The argument for it would have to have been to preserve and teach Swedish culture.  They obviously failed in reaching even the man from Pakistan whom they elevated to head the board.  It is also true that many children born in Sweden can hardly speak Swedish.  This is likely to continue until Swedish is an extinct language, along with its ancient culture.  There's something for guilty white Swedes to cheer about.

In interesting side note is that there were 306 shooting last year and 46 shot dead.  Shootings are up 100% since 2014.  Note to Congress:  Sweden has very strict gun laws.  It is illegal for any civilian to possess a gun except when hunting or at a shooting range, or to transport such gun except under very tight regulation - it must not be loaded, it must be concealed and carefully transported under "supervision".  Quite obviously this is not helping.  A corollary to this is that all other violent crimes are increasing as well - why not?  There is no way to confront the threat of violence.  If a dozen hoodlums surround a normal, unarmed man or woman they will have their way, whereas if this happened here someone coming down the street could stop such an attack if he were carrying a sidearm.  It is no accident that sex crimes are increasing at a shocking rate.  Bombings have become a more common experience. 

It goes without saying that other social ills accompany this open borders outlook - more than half of the unemployed were born outside of Sweden.  Mass immigration has been a real bargain for Sweden, no doubt about it.  

Why should we care about Sweden?  If they want this they are free to import it and so they have.  Some feel very smug and self-righteous about it, in fact, and urge it on the rest of us.  Others have awakened to the existential crisis confronting their homeland.  How will it end?  Perhaps not well.  We can only watch from here and see.  But we can and must avoid this in our country, in our cities and towns across America.  We, like the people of Sweden, are under attack.  First we are softened up by being asked to accept that we are "evil", that we promoted slavery, when in fact, we waged a terrible war to end it.  We are taught in our schools to feel guilt  because America has been successful.  White children are taught shame for simply being white.  Boys are being indoctrinated in the idea that being "male" is somehow bad.  Jewish and Christian religious beliefs are denigrated in favor of anything "non-Western".  We are taught to be ashamed of that heritage as well.  What is happening here is that we are being prepared for the next generation to accept a replacement culture.  American children of all colors and backgrounds and of both sexes should be taught our truthful history - that not all Americans have been saints but that America has been a strong and shining example of improvement and success.  No one today has slaves here.  Women have equal standing in law with men.  Race is no impediment to success - Americans even elected a minority race president.  Our kids should be taught our Constitution and our Declaration of Independence. If we don't shape up and defend our own nation and our own culture we will soon find ourselves in the same situation as Sweden.  I cannot think why anyone would want that.
