SALLY MORRIS: THE CHILL IS ALREADY UPON US
Many conservatives have not endorsed or supported Donald Trump since he has run away with the delegate count for various reasons – some of us simply do not believe anything he says, some are skeptical of a major donor to the Clinton Family and other prominent liberal Democrats, some are genuinely fearful for the integrity of our republic and its Constitution.
One such skeptic, apparently, is fiction writer Brad Thor. It is no secret that Trump is unacquainted with our Constitution and has little use for it. He sees its protections as a mere impediment to his personal progress, whether in the area of free speech or property rights. He sees no problem with using the bankruptcy laws that have bailed him out many times to "bail out" America. In other words, to have America declared bankrupt and – voila! – out of debt! Except that we can't allow that to happen. It would cause total chaos and global economic meltdown. He's okay with that.
Thor, however, sees a greater threat to our future as America. He views Trump as our version of Juan Peron, a typical South American dictator, a "caudillo". Oh, you laugh, Trump is just a dynamic businessman, not a lawyer type, not a typical politician with the vocabulary of law and familiarity with our Constitution. He's not a threat to our freedom! Thor, discoursing on the concerns for our future and the immediate threat he sees in Trump, while on Glenn Beck's radio show, referred to the likely impossibility of getting this man out of office, once in. He opined that in all probability he would not even leave if impeached. (Not that impeachment of a Republican president by a Republican Congress is going to happen.) He further wondered how this would be resolved. In any case it would not be possible to use legal process to remove Trump. You fill in the blanks. At no time did anyone advocate "taking" anyone "out", as Trump advocated "taking out" whole Muslim families
Beck listened, not filling in those blanks. He was simply interviewing a renowned author who has urged some extreme caution in electing a dangerous loose cannon as President of the United States.
The the Secret Service had previously seen what Thor had written and apparently saw no threat to public safety or Trump's safety in his article, but Trump, through the owners of Beck's host network, SiriusXM, acted swiftly to muzzle such talk. Beck – who contributed no threat at all in the conversation – was summarily suspended from his show. Without notice. Note that this was not neither a "legal" action, nor one authorized by any government law enforcement agency or security force. This was a "business" decision. He was replaced by a Breitbart contributor. Breitbart is owned by Trump Industries.
Does this tell you anything about the kind of individual we are contemplating moving into our White House? Are you worried yet? Or will you wait to worry about your property and your freedom of speech and association until it is your neighbor? Your granny? YOU?
The action taken by SiriusXM is proof – 3-dimensional, incontrovertible proof – that our rights have already been suspended by Trump and his mob – even before Trump has been allowed to accept the nomination, say nothing of win an election! If you are not concerned by this observation of Brad Thor, if you are not alarmed at the abuse of Glenn Beck, whether you agree with Beck or not, what would it take to disturb you? One thing might help. Read up on the slaves of South American dictators. And, of course, everyone is a slave there. They have no right to speak out. Those who do "disappear". Read about it while you still can. When SiriusXM suspends Glenn Beck, remember, they are suspending OUR RIGHT TO HEAR BECK.
(On a bit of a tangent, it is a little like what Scott Hennen and Matt Olien do to candidates they want to silence. Like Paul Sorum, for example. Hennen regularly censors and manages what his listeners can hear. And they loyally cheer him on. Go figure.)
Can you just imagine the abuse of power we are about to witness with this man if he is elected President? He gives every appearance of being a psychopath.
Trump has openly admired these dictators. He really likes Vladimir Putin. He has one of Putin's best buddies running his campaign at the moment – Paul Manafort. Check him out. Oh, and this just in: He has the approval and endorsement of the government of North Korea. One thing about these dictatorial strongmen is they tend to appreciate each other.
It is not enough that we have a candidate here who changes his positions on vital issues more often than he changes his ties. Or his baseball hats. The rubes of this country have joined in the march to elect a man they thought was going to deport illegals. Come to find out he was talking about "rhetorical deportation". Look that up (see Chris Collins, New York Congressman and Trump's earliest endorsor). They rallied around, with raised fists and baseball caps, cheering on the guy who would "build the wall". Except the wall is to be a "virtual wall" now. And the superman of business, who is going to "make America great again" is planning to do it through a bankruptcy.
And we think we have a country?
