SALLY MORRIS: THE “CON-CON” REARS ITS UGLY HEAD AGAIN
I have always been a fan of Ben Shapiro. He's witty, he's fun to watch. He regularly makes fools of upstart college kids. (Admit it, we all kind of like that.) But he can also be sloppy. He jumps to conclusions. He is not necessarily thinking for himself. Recently he has begun beating the drum for a "convention of states" - which is a misleading term for a constitutional convention. I know - a lot of people are exasperated with our Congress and our leaders in Washington. But this is not the way, folks. What we need is to return to our Constitution - you know, the one drawn up by James Madison, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jeffersond, George Mason, et al.
Unfortunately, these men are not with us today. Neither are any others of their caliber. Look around. And look at your state legislators as well. How much do they even know about our Constitution? Obviously, even Ben Shapiro is for the most part quite ignorant of the terms of our Constitution. You doubt me? Well, doubt me at your own peril. Or, better yet, listen to someone who actually does know the subject, a former Captain in the US Army, a professor of law, an expert on our Constitution. She is known as "Publius Huldah". She DOES know her stuff. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see a debate between her and Mr. Shapiro.
Incidentally, Publius Huldah has words condemning Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi. While I have supported Cruz for president in the past, this does not absolve him in my mind for what I consider an undermining of our Constitution. To the extent that he pursues a "convention of states" or a "constitutional convention" he should be condemned. He has been relatively quiet on this, but here he is very much in the wrong.
Other places you should look for insight into the "convention of states" push are the essays of the late Phyllis Schlafley and, of course, the excellent article referenced on the home page of The Dakota Beacon by Janine Hansen.
You can google her blog, publiushuldah, or you could start by listening to this video. Please try to overlook the hand-held camera work and the unfortunate focus on the lady in the foreground with the chopsticks and clinking ice water. She intrudes only for a couple of minutes at the beginning. Stay with it. You need to hear what Publius Huldah can tell you. If you are a Tea Party kind of person you need to know that you have been shielded from her words of wisdom. This is because the Tea Party movement was hijacked a long time ago. The pro-"con-con" lobby is powerful. This should tell you something. Find out who is really behind it. It was strong enough to shut down my discussion back in the days of the "New Americana" website. Please listen to this important video. Here is the link.
