SALLY MORRIS: THE GRAND BETRAYAL
We need to stop the “mail-in” voting option. This has been an unqualified disaster for the people. It has been a bonanza for those who hate America, of course. And a lot of American citizens are just bewildered that this scheme, which sounded so good last June, has produced such a crop of misery. Some of us knew right away that this was a very nasty plot. “COVID” has provided cover for a lot of evils and there are still Americans who don’t understand what is being done to them. They don’t realize that they are in the process of surrendering their republic. They don’t see the evil. Many have become so accustomed to thinking that the government should be taking care of them that they don’t realize that they are being put into safety shackles.
WE NEVER NEEDED MAIL-IN VOTING. America has always provided a way for any eligible citizen to vote in our elections. This was the case with or without COVID panic. We have always been protected from disenfranchisement. Just think about it. Of course voting in person on election day has always been an option, but for everyone else we had them covered too. If you couldn’t (or just didn’t want to) go to the polls on election day all you needed to do was pick up your phone and call your county clerk. Ask them to mail you an application for an absentee ballot. The application would come. You’d fill it out and provide proof of identity and return it. They would send you an actual ballot by return mail and you would fill that ballot out and send it in. Done. Now, given the higher numbers of absentee ballots you might expect due to panic over the virus, we might have added extra staff during the run-up to the election to get these ballots in the mail to voters and to receive them. We might well have needed extra personnel at the polls to count them - perhaps an extra staff to come on at the end of the day to help keep up on the counting of these absentee ballots.
Under the circumstance of growing concern about election integrity we should have had federal marshals show up at the end of voting hours to guard the counting and ensure that observers were able to verify the vote counting. Why didn’t we do this? A question for the Trump administration. This voting could have been counted by midnight if we had done these things, and the result certified and in the books, acceptance and concession speeches out of the way by noon the next day and a country back on track, regardless of the outcome. But as it stands we have no outcome.
We have all been through agonizing vote counts before as well as agonizing landslides, both for and against our candidates. I think of the Goldwater-Johnson debacle and the Reagan-Carter and Reagan-Mondale fiascos. But we moved on and the country more or less survived these as well as the “squeakers” like 2000. This, however, is very different. This is the first time we have had not just media influence but media control. Our social media is censoring virtually everything the Left doesn’t particularly like or find helpful. Truth doesn’t matter, Legitimate questions don’t matter anymore. Only the focus on screwing the Right. It has become too obvious to ignore. The mainstream media has been at all-out war with the Trump administration since the last election.
Voters are sick to death of this. We are all bombarded with the Russian hoax and the impeachment farce, all built upon nothing, and now this. This following a summer of shutdowns and riots. We are not okay with any more of this. And now we are being tortured with this “slow count”. It’s no good.
I keep thinking of how our national federal elections should be run. It isn’t rocket science by any means. We have currency that is distinguishable from counterfeit currency. It is printed on a specific paper. We could do the same with the ballots. (There is a rumor that this year’s ballots are “watermarked” and if so that is interesting academically speaking, now that the Trump votes are in the East River.) But we could specially mark these so that they cannot be faked. Then we can return to a sane manner of conducting the vote - the way we always have, with absentee ballots. I would argue that we should also return to ONE election day when polls are open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. to make sure everyone has a chance to get in there and vote. And if you can’t you’d better request your absentee ballot. No eligible voter is ever denied an absentee ballot, ever. When the absentee ballot is returned, that voter is marked as having voted with an indelible pen on official paper. That voter may not vote again. Anyone coming in to the voting places in person must show an official photo I.D. before being issued a ballot. Again, armed federal marshals should be guarding every polling place. An affidavit should be signed by anyone who accompanies/assists other voters, and a photo taken, like a mug shot, and fingerprinted. There are often cases of voter fraud where people are bused from polling place to polling place.
The states can run their state elections however sloppily their citizens will tolerate, but when you cross state lines it becomes my business. So federal offices should be on special federal ballots. All absentee ballots should be in sealed envelopes not to be opened until the counting of in-person votes is finished. Then they should be opened in the presence of officials for both parties and the marshals and entered, checked against the voter rolls to make sure they did not vote in person as well - which should be precluded anyway by checking them as having voted “absentee” when their ballots came back. Then all these votes should be bundled into containers and sealed with perhaps a weld. If the Chinese can weld people into homes we can surely weld votes into a box. Then if there is a question, the record is clear.
This is what should happen. It won’t happen. It appears as of this writing that Biden will be sworn in early next year and the crime will flourish at every level. If, on the other hand Trump prevails, he and Congress will sit around on this until it is too late to straighten out. If he has some kind of “sting” in mind with this year’s election he should have outed these people before this. The longer this festers the worse for him, not Biden.
It is in everyone’s interest to insist on fair elections - one eligible voter, one vote. People should be on their own to request absentee ballots if they can’t go to the polls in person. If someone is either to stupid or too lazy to request one his vote is not valuable to the country.
I had a sinking feeling even as I watched the massive rallies of Trump supporters from coast to coast and in every hamlet of America. I do not underestimate the cunning of the Democrat party. They were not concerned about it either - if they were they would never have allowed Joe Biden to be their standard-bearer. They have such contempt for us that they put up a frail, senile old man as their candidate for the most important job in the world.
We will see what Trump has for us in the way of an answer. I hope it’s a good one. He should have seen this coming. Maybe he did. Maybe he didn’t care. Maybe he did and he has some solution for the country. If not, then he, too, betrayed millions of American supporters. When Americans no longer have confidence in at least the basic integrity of our elections our republic is at its end.
