SALLY MORRIS: THE GREEN CON
There are legitimate reasons to go cautiously when supplying power. We need to avoid polluting our lakes and rivers and our air, we need to respect the real need for wildlife preserves and old-growth forests, we need to take into consideration the human environment and well-being. These are honest considerations.
However, a majority of so-called "green" schemes and the kinds of environmental panic urged by people like Al Gore or David Suzuki or Bill Nye . . . or Greta Thunberg are motivated by other concerns. They are motivated by greed for money and power. They feed the coffers of snake-oil purveyors of all kinds. Ezra Levant takes a look here at Germany's experience and what is behind it as well as its failure in going green.
Take a look at his brief video commentary and discuss it and share it! It should be on our minds when we hear about these scare stories about dire environmental disasters. There will be disasters of course. Because this is Planet Earth and our planet is subject to weather, volcanos and earthquakes and floods and always has been. We can't avoid any of this, nor the long-term climate variances by destroying our economy or backtracking to prehistoric lifestyles. Those who want to are free to do so, of course, but the rest of us should not be hauled down the vortex with them.
