SALLY MORRIS: THE HIGH COST OF ETERNAL VIGILANCE
One of the great scandals of the past century is the blatant abuse of lawful citizens who gathered in Washington, DC, to voice their objection to an election they believed to have been falsified. They came because they deeply felt that they were under attack in their own districts by what amounted to a usurpation of their political authority. They have largely been vindicated in that through subsequent investigation and revelations presented in several projects - one being the recent Dinesh D’Souza documentary, 2000 Mules. They had good reason to be concerned and angry. Since the election day of 2020, Americans have seen significant, massive, erosion of their Constitutional rights. The Bill of RIghts is being systematically dismantled day by day - beginning with the seminal one - the First Amendment, which “guarantees” our right to voice our opinion, to religious freedom, to the freedom of association and assembly and a free press. What has happened to that? It’s gone. The First Amendment has been castrated by the “Disinformation Governance Board”, an entirely unconstitutional creature of the Biden administration, which appeared like a mushroom, without congressional sanction. Even before the official rollout of this violation, our rights to speak or otherwise communicate our thoughts and opinions was being stifled by various social media in collusion with the Biden government - doctors who voiced concern about “vaccine” safety, those who questioned the integrity of the 2020 election or anything else not in tune with the government’s narrative, were castigated. Doctors lost hospital privileges and teaching positions, nurses lost their jobs, people came under investigation merely because they felt the election process was corrupted. We used to feel totally free to say these things, to debate and discuss these matters. Not any more. Even without the “Ministry of Truth” we were being shut down. Our Second Amendment is under attack at the moment, an attack set in motion by the ineptitude or corruption of police in the Uvalde school shooting. Common sense is being disregarded in the motion to use this to end our rights to self-defense. The shooting took place - as they always do - in a so-called “gun-free zone”, a school. In fact, there were armed police inside the school even as the shooting of innocent children continued. No one is allowed to question or to speculate as to how this illegal immigrant teenager was able to assemble the arsenal he used in his attack. No one is allowed to ask why so many police were there, listening to the shots fired over and over, killing 21 and wounding 17 people - just the shots that hit someone - and did absolutely nothing to stop it. Again, this is why we have (or should have) an enforceable First Amendment. There is a strong suspicion that this was allowed to happen so as to fuel gun-grabbing laws and foil the Second Amendment. Our Fourth Amendment was supposed to protect our security in our persons and possessions - but it, too, has been obliterated. The government, even since the obnoxious “Patriot Act” (the design of neocon president George W. Bush) has expired, continues to collect and store data on American citizens, a practice enhanced by the Covid excuse. The Fifth Amendment is a major part of our laws, but what has happened to that? “No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense [sic] to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” Oh, yeah? Tell that to the hundreds of American citizens who are rotting in substandard (even by third-world measures) prisons a year and a half after the January 6 rally. The rally itself was entirely legal. Breaches of security have been shown to be the work of the “authorities” - including the Capitol Police and several federal agencies such as the FBI. Now, after all these months, it is becoming more and more clear that the dangerous and unlawful behavior was on the part of these “authorities” and their undercover agents. Those who were killed were the rally attendees, not members of Congress or the police forces. A false report was issued that one police officer had been beaten with a fire extinguisher. In fact he died of a heart attack and was never struck by anyone at the rally. Four other police officers who were at the scene subsequently committed suicide. That seems a little weird. Were they about to say something we were not supposed to hear? In any case this bears further investigation. The January 6 rally has been called a “riot” by the media. It was nonviolent until the undercover cops got involved. Now it has escalated in terminology to “insurrection” - which it was not. An insurrection is an overthrow of an existing government. This rally was of those who felt that the government had been overthrown by a corrupted election. Their views should have been heard by Congress, but instead, Congress hid under their collective desk, cowering in fear of the people. A documentary has been released, assembled by one of the persecuted and still imprisoned attendees, Jake Lang, who is being held in solitary confinement. He has not been tried - he is just there on spec. It is impossible to watch his film, “The Truth About January 6”, and still believe that America is a Land of the Free. We lost our freedom a long time ago. We have lost it to fear and cowardice, we have lost it to personal greed. We have lost it to a kind of political laziness and excuse-making (“politics is all dirty”) for not participating in the process. Can we get it back? That is the looming question. The forces assembled are loading the dice against it. Will the historic American spirit fight back? Will we enforce a fair election in 2022? If so there is every reason to believe that our freedom will make a comeback, but these comebacks are always and have always been temporary. Jefferson, who despite an intensive campaign to malign him over the past several years, was quite correct when he advised his countrymen that “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” He was speaking to us. That’s what he meant by “eternal”. We will have freedom only so long as we believe it is worth fighting for.
