SALLY MORRIS: THE KNIFE’S EDGE
It began with the masks. I know I’m not alone in being shocked by the rude behavior of formerly polite, considerate people. Were they just driven by fear? I know of few immediate threats that would have made these people drop all of the trappings of civility. Even exiting a burning building doesn’t bring this out in most people. Yet shopkeepers and customers alike piled on anyone not swathed in a mask or two. Many have very good reasons for not wearing them, but no one was extending any benefit of doubt - at least on the mask-wearing side. This incivility bled through the entryways and into the aisles. People who once greeted each other or made friendly eye contact began looking away, whether or not everyone had a mask on. Germs, you know. Behavior universally regarded as uncivilized - even bizarre - became frequent and then almost universal. People quit shaking hands and instead a “friendly greeting” took the form of a fist bump - or worse, an "elbow bump". In other words, the fabric of our very society became strained and damaged. The masks provided a kind of theater, where they imparted a feeling of unnatural malaise, of panic and emergency everywhere. They dispelled any sense of normality, they affected the atmosphere of every room. We need not even go into the uselessness of these in the case of a virus. I leave it to you: If there were a poison gas attack in progress, would you put on your paper mask and go out into it? No? If the paper won’t keep out large gas particles, how would you expect it to keep out a virus? If you used logic you wouldn’t. You would shake your head in astonishment that any adult would. It was never anything but theater or some sort of phony talisman. The incivility became the standard almost overnight. This is important, for it laid the groundwork for something far more sinister.
It might be that people generally are not aware of the precarious position in which we have been placed - quite intentionally - by a combination of forces. We are looking into the maw of full-blown Nazi-style tyranny and nothing less.
Some of you may have seen the video documentary about the Weimar Republic, that period in German history between their abject loss in WWI and the election of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor. That is just background. There are unavoidable parallels between the disastrous Weimar era and our own present era in the United States. If you recall European history, the empires of Hapsburg and Hohenzollern were stable and of long standing on the eve of WWI. No one would have believed that in a few short years this imperial grandeur would have been reduced to rubble and that the people would be so ravaged and desperate that they would have turned to fascism for relief, that they would have sought and persecuted a general scapegoat - their Jewish population - in order to feel “whole” again. They were softened up and made desperate not only by the military disaster but also by the subsequent subversion of their entire culture, which had always been justly regarded as a point of pride.
That’s right. German culture, prior to Hitler, had produced great art, beautiful music, manufacturing, technology of all kinds, the result of centuries of a literate and successful middle class. The events of WWI, which destroyed Germany, gave rise to a generation at a loss. Every kind of perversion took hold and the “normal” person in Germany was totally alienated - religion was “bad”, brothels were “good” - those features of life which embodied strength, grace, beauty, intellect, art, were so distorted that the normal German citizen, the sane person trying to make sense of it was left without any ability to function in such a society. With wild inflation, the devastation of war added to by the dissolution of the very society in which people lived, the loss of everything they cherished, the loss of any semblance of right or wrong, the sense of lawlessness, people were ready to grasp at anything that represented order. They elected Adolf Hitler.
Naziism - or “National Socialism” - was just that. It was not a polar opposite of the communism it purported to oppose, but “socialism” - rather more like communism than unlike it in terms of the ordinary citizen’s life. Either way you lose your freedom. Either way you become the chattel of the state. The only real difference is who divides the spoils up at the top.
Those of us who are awake and aware and still love freedom are finding ourselves uncomfortably close to losing it all to some form of totalitarianism, perhaps presented as “globalism”. The bottom line will be the same - we will become slaves of the state, property of the state. The progression of various events, either tolerated or outright orchestrated by our own government leadership should make us all very nervous, given the history.
It is interesting - time plays tricks on us. World War I and the splendid European cultures which existed prior to that event seem ancient to us now. A house built during that time qualifies as “historic”, clothing worn then is “vintage”, artifacts of the era are “antiques” now. But this was not that long ago. If we think of the time, for example, between the Vienna of Strauss and the Hapsburg Empire and the rise of Hitler in 1933, about 20 years, it was less than the space of time from the election of George W. Bush to the present day. No one thought, as they twirled around the ballrooms of Vienna in 1912, that within 20 years they would be throwing books into the streets and burning them, herding Jews onto boxcars and sending them to gas chambers. We are the same - no one who grew up in the abundance and freedom of America can bring himself to believe we are at the book-burning point, the verge of concentration camps and forced medical experiments on victims of the state. But here we are.
In an insightful article in Rair Foundation’s website, journalist Amy Mek has presented a strong case of parallels between Hitler’s Germany and the United States of America, c. 2021. We have gone, in about a year’s time, from a nation of free men and women to a reign of terror. Just as happened in Germany, our culture has been undermined, our values up-ended, our legitimate sense of right and wrong turned on its head, we have seen our cities burning, mobs dictating to our mayors, our police, our businesses. We no longer feel safe in many parts of our major cities. A combination of this mob violence with the importation by our government of unvetted, unassimilable people from around the world, pouring in through our southern border and a hyped-up “pandemic” orchestrated by highly placed individuals using our tax dollars and in cooperation with China and the WHO, it’s puppet, have left us ripe for the harvest.
The pandemic, to use their word for it, was created in a lab in a rogue foreign country by American operatives such as Anthonoy Fauci, to impose control over us. It has worked spectacularly. The panic-driven measures implemented even by the normally sanguine Donald Trump, created ever greater hysteria. Masks to create the illusion of miasma and to further sicken us, cruel withholding of medications which would have cured most, nearly all, of those who contracted the virus, shutting down of businesses, schools, restricting hospitals to covid-only - thus causing other illnesses to run wild, untreated in many communities, worse yet, isolating us from co-workers, friends, family, banning even family holiday get-togethers. People were relegated to dining outdoors in mid-winter in little tents on the sidewalk if at all. Incomes were stopped for many. Those who dared to behave normally were arrested, handcuffed, fined. Our ability to talk to each other was stifled - the mainstream and social media outlets began unprecedented censoring. In a world which has made the printed word all but obsolete in favor of these modes of communication, this is devastating.
Real concerns from highly trained specialists at the top of their professions, when expressed, were deleted, “fact-checked” (by people with a vested interest in vaccine companies), everything not in lockstep with the official position on anything was labeled “misinformation” and shut down. Those who persisted in trying to communicate these views were banned from the media. Asking questions is not allowed. It is our “book burning”.
All of these ills are continuing and intensifying today. It is no surprise that among the most restricted aspects of our society - our churches, synagogues, our restaurants, bars, social events, family gatherings - are all places where we communicate with one another in person. In order to make the shut-down of communication complete it was necessary to prevent this. (I recall last Thanksgiving, when we drove to a friend’s house, who lived in the country, for dinner. We were prepared to be pulled over and fined for such an infraction.) This is not the America we grew up in, not the land of the free and home of the brave our soldiers have defended for 250 years, not the nation our forefathers forged in the blood of the Revolution. It is a sickening swamp. It is the opposite of those things we have revered for more than two centuries - a perversion of the United States of America.
And now we have the vaccine. This is the death-blow. If you doubt it, please read Ms Mek’s article. We are now at the point where people are polarized in two camps. We have people on one side who want to be free to make their own decisions about their bodies, whether they wish to have an experimental “vaccine” injected into them. Many of these same people are attempting to exercise their other constitutionally-guaranteed rights as well - the right of free speech, free assembly, redress of grievances, freedom to worship, free press, the right to bear arms and to self-defense, the right to a speedy and fair trial, among others, to protection of our own homes and property. (The CDC decided - ex-congressionally - that landlords may not collect rents. The “president” issues orders as if he were Stalin and then tells us that we are to ignore the courts if they find against him. Since when is this considered okay?)
The data coming out about these so-called “vaccines” is anything but reassuring, and even if it were, we have not had time enough to learn anything at all about long-term effects. Nevertheless we are ordered to take them regardless of whether we already have immunity or whether they are dangerous. They have been shown to be about the most toxic, lethal injections ever concocted. The demand that we line up for these in order to keep our jobs and livelihoods is tantamount to the use of captive Jews in concentration camps for Dr. Mengele’s hideous experiments - which, like this “vaccine” of Fauci’s, left most of the survivors sterile.
Now we are segregating the “unvaccinated”. We are tagging them with little wristbands. We are making them eat outdoors, they may not attend events, they may not shop in stores. The more of this we impose the more we resemble Hitler. We need to stop this.
It is odd, but among all of the tyrants through the ages, one alone, may not be compared to anyone today - Hitler. He was not the worst killer by a long shot, but somehow his panache for persecuting specific groups of people and his Third Reich’s flare for exotic and vile experimentation and brutal treatment of them seems to have captured the imagination of the public. You are not allowed to compare anyone to Hitler - you risk belittling his infamous legacy. We are supposed to gasp when we hear these comparisons.
And yet, we are closer to Hitler’s Germany than we are to any other example in history. In our case, however, it is much, much worse. Whereas Germany was one nation in central Europe, albeit important culturally, it was a worn-down, decrepit nation when Hitler came to power. He had a personal charisma which seemed to hypnotize a desperate people to throw away their culture, their freedom, their sense of right and wrong, their morality, for whatever good he promised them. With us it is a far more serious proposition. For while Germany was an important nation culturally, the United States is first and foremost among free people - it is the beacon to billions of people who would either come here to partake of its benefits with us or to create something like it in their own homelands.
As we watch our governments - state and local, school boards, county commissions as well as the federal government - take a sledge hammer to our Constitution, step over the bodies of our fallen heroes in their rush to intimidate and dominate us - we are seeing what happened to Germany. The Unvaccinated are today’s Jews. What the Jews were to Hitler and the people who supported him (a majority of Germans to begin with at least) the Unvaccinated are now to these rogue governments and the masked-up, vaccinated people, rapidly becoming a majority. For everyone who gets sick the government manipulates it into a “covid case”. Now that the vaccinated are in many areas a majority, this is now a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”, even though the people who are sick and dying have been vaccinated.
The “Vaccinated” have now been downgraded to “Unvaccinated” status by virtue of the booster shots and this will continue. You will need to subscribe to the monthly booster unless you want to be herded in with the “Unvaccinated”.
The ugliness with which the “Unvaccinated” are treated should keep you in line, though. Some people want to take their children away. Some say they have no right to earn a living. Some just say “Die!” And these are our countrymen - people we used to greet with a smile in the grocery store or when out for a walk around the block, people we used to play cards with or see in church or with whom we worked in a congenial atmosphere every day so long ago, in 2019.
If this sounds a lot like the stories we have heard about the “Good Germans” who smashed store windows of Jewish merchants, who happily stoked the fires with more books by dissenters, who beat Jewish children on the way to school or watched, leaden-eyed as they were rounded up and put in boxcars never to be seen again, take a good look, a close look. Listen to what you hear your neighbor or your “friends” saying about the “Unvaccinated”. You might hear that they are “the problem” because they “won’t comply”.
There are sound reasons why people of conscience cannot comply and allow this to be done to them or their children. Some are religious. Some are medical. Above all, they are sound science. If someone wishes to bury his head in the sand and hear no evil about these toxic cocktails in vials, let them take the experiment. There is no reason on earth why, if they are right and the shots work, anyone else’s decision should bother them in the least. And yet they persist in the tyranny. Why would anyone support this? If we can find some people old enough to have lived in the Third Reich and survived, maybe they can tell us.
We are precariously close to losing our country to madmen. As a child I saw films of Hitler screaming at his captive audience - they looked mesmerized, vacant-eyed, they acted as one, like an ant colony, mindless, without individual volition. He manipulated them to do insane things, illogical things, he scapegoated innocent people because of their beliefs and race. He divided the people of his nation. His small nation. And we all reaped the whirlwind. Are we going the same way? It has been said that a republic can last for about 200 years. If so, we have already lived a miracle. We can do better. I think we could go to 300 or 400 years and set some records but we need to see our enemy and recognize it.
Our enemy is in our presence right now. It is here in the person of the city council member who introduces a mask mandate, in the person of the school board member who decides kids must wear masks, employers who knuckle under so needlessly to a “mandate” for a dangerous and illegal “vaccine” on the orders of a mentally unsound political leader who is so crazy as to be telling us to ignore the courts. It is here at the doorway to your local grocery store, where some supernumerary asks for your “papers”, or in the clerk who follows you around to make sure you have your mask on.
If we don’t see the enemy it will swallow us one by one, as it did the people of Germany in 1933. We are at the crossroads now. Which way will we go?
