SALLY MORRIS: THE RATS ARE GNAWING; WILL THEY DROWN AMERICA?

Edmund BurkeBy gnawing through a dike even a rat may drown a nation.

As Congress moves relentlessly and remorselessly toward passage of a desperately deadly immigration bill, which is likely to be worse than the one the Democrats in the Senate cooked up, it is difficult to see where is the impetus for this.  Where is the “pressure” coming from for passage of such a disastrous piece of legislation?  Not from the citizens of America.  If there is pressure it is coming from sources such as La Raza and other special interests that are not really American at all.

Indeed, today Free Republic has posted this news:  100% of the net gain in employment over the last 13 years was in the immigrant sector – both legal and illegal.  Furthermore, the same study, Immigrant Gains and Native Losses In the Job Market, 2000 to 2013,  published by Stephen Camarota and Karen Ziegler, of the Center for Immigration Studies, and based on government data, also shows that the claim that there are jobs Americans “won’t do” is absolutely false.  In fact, the majority of workers in many fields we have termed “menial” or “low wage” are held by white, native-born Americans.  Rubio and his new liberal friends lied to us.  Plain and simple.  They lied.  (http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/07/study-all-net-gain-in-u-s-employment-has-gone-to-immigrants.php) What are we going to do about it?

Like so much that happens in Congress, it appears as though the American public is not of interest and will not be consulted.  Will this cost you or your kids’ employment?  Tough crap.  Will it add to the public debt?  Who cares?  Not Congress.  Will it result in a threat to public safety?  So what?  Congress is not interested in the public’s safety.  And why in hell not?  Well, it has been suggested that what the members of Congress are interested in is their retirement plans.  That makes sense inasmuch as they can’t expect to be returned to office if this passes.  The Senators maybe – members of Congress not so much, because before the new voters pour in they’ll be up for election, all of them.

So they are interested not in the devastation of our economy or our hopeless national security issues and our foreign relations mess, but rather their juicy pensions and whatever they can vacuum up from the special interests that are determining their votes.  They are putting America on autopilot and checking their parachutes, preparing to bail.

So perhaps rather than just beg these “rats” to listen to our pleas for the American people and their security and their economic viability, we should be organizing to deprive these elitists of their federal pensions.  Let them go back to work or retire on their Social Security or just free fall with the rest of us.  This would, admittedly be difficult to get passed in Congress, obviously.  But that is not our only recourse.  As most of us know, there are kooks out there sending emails around every day trying to get us all on the bandwagon for a Constitutional Convention.  (“We need only two more states!!! Yea!!”) I don’t need to take this time to go into the million reasons why this is a terrible idea that only an idiot or a Communist would like, but the principle that is wasted on this issue could be applied to the proposition that after all, all men are created equal and should stand so before our Constitution.  That means that these fat cats, most of whom are very, very wealthy, have no need of a federal pension – at all.  We should get our states to pass THAT resolution.  And while we’re at it, how an “omnibus” resolution that says they are also not exempt from laws against insider trading?  Nothing like being exempt from that one law to let you build a great portfolio and make you independent from your constituents, is there? That little caveat is enough all by itself to guarantee the lavish lifestyle to which they have become accustomed.  Perhaps we can even devise a way to deprive them of any gains made from exercise of this insider trading, you think?

In the meantime we should call, twice a day – all of us – and inform these so-called “public servants” that their vote for any kind of immigration “reform” will trigger the movement for these resolutions coast to coast, and that they be retroactive.  No member who has served in the last two decades should receive a pension.  If they have it should be repaid.    Yeah, I know, “no ex post facto laws”, but as Congress says, “so what?”  We have seen plenty of retroactive stuff going down without a whimper from Congress.

This Congress has been overall a bunch of traitors.  They are supposed to be “Republican controlled”.  They were sent to Washington on a holy mission:  to stop the Obama juggernaut.  So, how have they done?  They COULD have defunded the EPA.  They haven’t.  So now we are to witness a “war on coal” that will destroy us and our economy and forestall any hope of reviving industry in America.  They COULD have defunded Obamacare.  They haven’t.  So we are now about to have the IRS going over our medical charts and deciding what kind of treatment we can have – if any.  They COULD stop the horrendous mistake of the immigration “reform” bill.  They won’t.  John Boehner wouldn’t like it.  He wants to play by the rules that have brought us to this desperate point.  Which brings me to another one:  they COULD oust Boehner and install someone with some principles, someone sober and clear-eyed with the determination to guide us back on track.  These are the things they were sent to Washington to accomplish.  In that they have utterly failed, they must be turned out of office themselves.  Call and tell them that

Then we must create a new party with these as the central aims.  And abandon every single candidate who cannot garner a Libertarian and Conservative nomination as well.  Because the label “Republican” means absolutely nothing, just like this dud Congress.  We’ve put up with damn near enough in the name of the sanctity of “party unity” and “pulling together” because the Republican is “10,000 x 10,000 times better than the Democrat”.  We don’t have any reason to believe that any more.  We’ve been totally betrayed by these people.  They are worthless.  If any are exempt from this description, let them seek an additional endorsement from  the Libertarian Party, the Conservative Party, the Constitution Party or any combination of them and then take a Constitutional blowtorch to the whole lot of the Washington elite.  Yesterday would be a good time to start.

I’ll just let Edmund Burke close this with two quotes:

Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little; and . . . When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.
