SALLY MORRIS: THIS IS CHILD ABUSE
I am finding it difficult to understand all these angry parents. From Wisconsin to Florida to Virginia and various other regions we see headlines every day about these parents. The Biden administration has termed them “domestic terrorists”. What are they all about?
Some are angry about masks. In Florida a little special needs girl has been suffering for weeks unbeknownst to her loving parents because her teacher has been tying a mask over her face (she is not supposed to be wearing a mask) with nylon rope in order to comply with some directive of the school board mandating masks for “all students”. The parents only found out because one day the teacher forgot to remove the mask and hide the nylon ropes and the kid got off the school bus still wearing it. There is now a storm forming over this issue with one state representative taking extreme umbrage over the matter and vowing that there will be consequences for the behavior of this teacher. The poor child, who is unable to speak, was trying to breathe through a mask full of saliva and other fluids and has been struggling in silence with no advocate all this time. This is clearly child abuse. But why was this child left in the custody of some school in the first place? Isn’t it a parent’s job to take care of a child? And this child had no means to fend or advocate for herself. So who else committed abuse here?
Another case of child abuse by mask took place in Wisconsin, where a school teacher disapproved of a message mask worn by a middle school boy - the essence of which was that the mask is not about covid but about control - and took it away from him. Instead she insisted he wear a “pride” mask. She was taping the mask to his face, wrapping the tape around his head to keep it in place. The boy’s parents are upset with this. She claimed she put tape only around the kid’s nose, but photographs show where the tape was pulled off from behind his neck. Not that it matters where the tape was placed - the kid was assaulted. Another set of angry parents.
There are countless stories - just in today’s headlines we have a number of them - any one of which should shock any decent American, whether a parent or not. A reporter, attending a school board meeting in Orange County, in Florida to cover parents’ objections to masks in the schools, was approached by a parent and shown a copy of a pornographic book found in the school library. He was horrified at its content which described a variety of deviant sex acts and products to use when practicing them. The reporter decided it would be appropriate, given that there were no children present, to just read some excerpts aloud to the members of the school board. Some of the members claimed they had “no idea” that the book was in the school. Maybe they should know what’s in the school. Instead of thanking the reporter and the parents for bringing this to their attention (inasmuch as they “didn’t know”) they shut him up and had him removed from the meeting room. They claim they’ll look into it. Right. Parents in attendance were predictably very angry about this.
Our kids are learning a lot of stuff in school - how to lap dance and put on a male lingerie show for the principal and teachers, girls are learning how to put together a Hooters costume. It’s all on display - or at least it was - through the efforts of the principal and staff - on social media. This happened in Hazard, Kentucky but it is probably happening elsewhere - if it isn’t already a feature of the Orange County school activities, given their library selections, we should expect it any time now. Parents are unreasonably angry about this - why should a parent be upset, after all, when a picture of his son in a lacy negligee or teddy, pleasuring the principal (also the town’s mayor!) appears splashed all over social media?
Parents get upset about all kinds of things. In Loudoun County, Virginia, a father was arrested when he showed up at a school board meeting to confront them about his young daughter’s assault. She was raped in the Ladies’ Room by a “transgender” or cross-dresser, as they were termed in the past - a boy dressed up in a skirt had followed the girl into the restroom and attacked her. So the dad got arrested. It turns out there was every reason to keep an eye on the boy - he had done the same thing in another school before. But the dad is a “terrorist”. We should at least give credit to the students who turned out to support the victim of the attack and call for protection from such behavior.
Parents are getting their dander up about some of this. However provincial it sounds, they think that the schools are supposed to be educating their children and helping to prepare them to succeed as adults who must compete with many others in a global economy. This, it would appear, is not the understanding or intent of the schools. While the US lags behind other countries in terms of the preparedness of school children, academically, the public schools in our country have instead decided their mission is to be social engineers, sculpting the character of these kids through “critical race theory”, where they are indoctrinated in racism, told that it is ugly and downright sinful to be white, which comes as a real blow to the little white kindergarten kids, not to mention the harm done to the other kids in the room, to promote precocious sexualization and deviant practices instead of teaching math or science, to focus their spare moments of time on forcing kids into masks and abusing them if they are not cooperative in their own abuse, rather than teaching actual history or geography. They stock their library shelves with porn instead of great classics or even Nancy Drew. And they wonder when parents confront them.
We have all heard how there was not one high school student in Baltimore who was competent in math - that was in 2017. This has been a problem for some time - the dual-edged sword of failure to actually teach academic subjects and help kids achieve proficiency in them and spending their time in indoctrination and warping of young minds by introducing pornography, deviant behavior of every kind, social engineering toward Marxism as well as confusion about their own gender. They are more interested in supplying abortions without parental knowledge, or covid injections on the strength of signatures forged by 16-year-old students, as happened in Louisiana in cooperation with the infamous Ochsner Clinic. They are more concerned with the mask glued to the kid’s face than in his participation in the learning process.
Parents, when they do complain - belatedly - are labeled “terrorists”. AG Merrick Garland had a helicopter circling overhead as parents attended a school board session to present their concerns. If you go to complain about how your tax dollars are spent or how your paid teachers are stealing your child’s innocence and corrupting his childhood you should expect anything from merely being escorted out or being insulted yourself by these arrogant SOBs to actually being arrested and probably put on a no-fly list as a terrorist.
The government, chiefly Democrats, believe that your child belongs to them. In fact they make no bones about it. Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe, has said exactly that - your child belongs to the state. He has built his whole campaign around this. His challenger, Glenn Youngkin, is calling him out on it - with the outrageous claim that parents have rights in the bringing up and educating of their children. Let’s hope parents show up at the polls as well as the school board meetings.
The puzzling thing to me through all of this is that it is an issue at all. Why are these parents putting their kids in these schools? A mother who wouldn’t leave her handbag, containing $20 and sundries, in a shopping cart in a Safeway, thinks nothing at all of dropping her child off at a public school with the intention that some dubious curriculum will be taught be some teacher more interested in organizing a socialist political action group than in teaching him how to read, write and do math. What is wrong with such a parent? A father who allows his daughter to go to a school which has declared its observation of fluid sexual identities among students is furious that his innocent daughter was raped by one of the fluid students. Where is his logic? Where is the intelligence of these parents? They protest loudly and fumingly about mask mandates but they keep taking the kids to school.
When my children were little my husband and I knew that they would not get a decent education in the local public schools, not to mention the fact that we also knew that they would be scapegoats due to their dad’s falling out with the local college’s education department. It was a no-brainer that they would be homeschooled. We lived in North Dakota, which at that time was one of the worst places to homeschool. Dissident Mennonites were being jailed for it and their kids made wards of the state. We did not want our kids to be cannon fodder in such a battle. So we moved to Minnesota, whose laws were far more enlightened at that time. It was an unbelievably difficult sacrifice financially to move, but there was no question of the alternative.
We found that there is still a wealth of material for any parent to use in teaching his child. We taught our kids to read (the down side is that each of them probably owns more than 1,000 books so it is a challenge to find space for everything). They did not grow up on porn, they were not manipulated into some social engineering project. They explored subjects that interested them from music to baseball, from ancient languages and archeology to Shakespeare. They largely educated themselves and did a magnificent job. They are all published writers, one is an award-winning choreographer, produced a movie musical and a Shakespeare festival and is a portrait artist, one is a student of ancient and obscure languages, has mastered several musical instruments, has written hundreds of songs and a string quartet, two of them have produced CD albums, one is an expert in sports history, American history and the architectural history of skyscrapers, is an accomplished photographer and an expert in gemstones, bison and automobiles. If it sounds like I’m bragging, perhaps I am, but I didn’t teach them all this - they learned it perhaps because they were not distracted by learning how to lap dance and they were not suffocated with masks. Other people’s kids can do the same.
The difference seems to be that some people have put their emphasis on everything but the schools and the curriculum to which their kids are subjected. We don’t need two paychecks or even two cars. We don’t need the schools to babysit “for free” and use that time to indoctrinate them to disrespect their own families, pursue socialism rather than freedom, we don’t need this system of bullies to chain up our kids’ IQs and limit rather than provide their academic education. We don’t need them to substitute their authority for ours. When we do this we are asking for what has been described above - a roadmap to debauchery, corrupted minds, lost childhood innocence, not to mention a lost future. We should not be blaming the schools or the principals or even the government. The blame is with parents who have sat by and allowed this, believing the $400,000 house was more important than reading a wholesome story to their child rather than dumping him off for Drag Queen Story Hour. The second luxury car with all the bells and whistles, it turns out, is really not more important than your child’s safety in the restroom, not more valuable than freely breathing fresh air instead of being muffled in a face mask.
These teachers and principals are not paid with the wages scraped out of socialism - they are paid with money earned through a free economy - capitalism, if you will. Yet they are turning out kids and sending them to college, firm in the belief that they want socialism. That and porn. Porn is addictive, we are told. So the kid in kindergarten or third grade, or the middle school student who reads porn - or attends the Drag Queen Story Hour or is mandated to participate in activities designed to create gender confusion or racial hatred, will have been formed. What, exactly, is a parent’s role in this? Just to sire or give birth? And then turn the child over like a crop of tomatoes? That’s what the Democrats think. Children “belong” to the state. We see the result of that idea. It’s pretty depressing. We’d be a lot better off with McGuffy’s.
