SALLY MORRIS:  UNFORGIVABLE

It has been about a year since Minnesota Governor Walz tore the bottom out of our economy, just in time for the holidays.  It was really just a gesture.  He had more or less destroyed the state long before that, with a summer of masks and shutdowns, no one knowing when they went to bed at night whether they would wake up unemployed or without a business.

The suffering has been profound, the losses incalculable.  Personally, three members of my family, including myself, were put out of work.  None of us has worked a day since in our profession.  The financial hardship has been more than matched by personal heartache and tragedy.  The wedding some grandmother would never attend.  The funeral dear lifelong friends and family were precluded from attending, the graduation someone’s granddad missed, the important milestones in people’s lives, stripped from them, stolen.  For what?

Well, according to our Fuhrer, Walz, for the “greater good”, for “public health”, “to fight Covid”.  B.S.  What Walz really wanted was not to contain the coronavirus, not to cut down on infections, not to protect anyone.  His emails now prove this.  What he wanted was to destroy people’s lives through the hoax of Covid.  He quite accurately determined that if we knew the truth we would not put up with his authoritarianism.  We would refuse to comply with his orders  and perhaps throw him out of office, as he justly deserves, for trying to ruin our state’s economy.

So after a summer of riots which tore up the major metropolitan area of the state and burned much of it to the ground, he polished the year 2020 off with massive shut-downs and a ban on family gatherings for good measure.  No Christmas dinners, no Thanksgiving get-togethers, no dining out, no parties, no food, no music.  Just some sort of grim hunkering-down as per Walz’s insane dictates with the cooperation of his staff.

Now, a year later, we are learning that all these statistics, all these grim numbers which required all of this sacrifice were a lie.  A manipulation.  A ruse designed for no other purpose than to inflict pain on the people of Minnesota.  Now a whistleblower has revealed inter-staff communications which spell out the whole damnable plot.  Walz and his staff decided that the normally sane people of Minnesota would balk at the idea of summarily shutting down all their businesses and closing up shop during their busiest and most productive season, not to mention foregoing all long-anticipated family gatherings we look forward to all year.  The “threat” of Covid just wasn’t all that serious.  So instead of telling the truth, Walz and his crew of pirates concocted a scheme whereby they would sort of “imagineer”, to borrow from Disney, a potential killer pandemic to instill the requisite level of fear among the people.  They used a clever technique of projecting “generations” of infection, building upon a scanty number, like Bernie Madoff convinced the elderly pensioners to give up their means of sustenance in their “golden years” for promised wealth.  Only in reverse.  Instead of promising prosperity he promised death.  The people bought it.

Had Walz relied on the truth the state legislature would have been forced to shut him down.  Had he relied on any worthy instinct of the actual “good of the people” he would have done all in his power to enable economic recovery.  But that was never a goal for the Walz government.  A more assertive, more attentive legislature would have stopped this in any case, but Walz knows them too well.  He assumed, correctly, that if they could be frightened as well, or if not, if they only had some flimsy sham to hang their inaction upon, they could be depended upon to let him do what he damn well pleased, without any interference from the representatives of the people.  The result we are all well acquainted with by now.

When I think of the lost dreams, the hard work washed down the drain,, the many who suffered, those who even died as a result of his misanthropic administration, it truly sickens me.  This cannot be compensated.  Walz was not alone in his misgovernance.  Andrew Cuomo abused the people of New York, Newsome further damaged California, Whitmer ravaged Michigan.  There were others.  But Walz was among the worst offenders, the worst villains.

It is a given that Walz and his like have to go - to disappear from the political stage right  now. We cannot ever be made whole from the effects of the Walz administration’s antics and evil policies, but here’s an idea.  What about a class action lawsuit, naming Walz and certain of his cabinet and staff who were directly implicated in the deception which enabled him to destroy our state’s economy and the lives of so many of our people?  What about holding them personally liable for these damages.  It would be only nominal, of course, because there is no way to accurately assess the full extent of the damage he has done.  We would have to extrapolate our losses, only truthfully, as he extrapolated phony “Covid” numbers to terrify the people of Minnesota.  If we were to hold these people, these disgusting vultures, personally responsible it would set a very good example.  Simply letting the taxpayers settle for his ilk’s transgressions would do nothing to stop future abuses.  Gobvernor Walz, for one, should be charged with felonies - such as fraud for starters.  He needs to do hard time for this.  He has destroyed lives.  He has stolen from us.

In future we need to understand the very nature of freedom and prosperity.  It can never again be held hostage to fear - whether of some virus, of fake (or even real) climate change, or even an invasion of aliens from another galaxy.  Freedom is just that - freedom, not to be relegated to the back of the bus for any kind of scare.  Such “freedom” as can be “put on hold” isn’t freedom at all.
