Currency devaluation, along with rampant inflation are the inevitable results of the Federal Reserve and its usual misguided efforts to mask our departure from free markets and capitalism to the almost universal poverty that accompany socialism. Ask a Russian citizen, “How’s it going?” the “shoulder shrugging” answer has been eighty years in the making, but many in Russia, and even here, still believe the “promise”…

So rather than cut or even eliminate the income and property taxes in North Dakota, we can all look forward to that eventual day when it all comes tumbling down and we are left with no choice but to bail out our public employee’s defined benefit plans with the revenues that should have been left in our pockets to truly diversify our North Dakota economy! My 401K is almost fully converted to low-risk corporate securities. As they say in the commercial, “What's is YOUR wallet?”

Conservatives have tired of their party leaders who have gotten comfortable splashing around in the Hot Tub to keep their own private party going.

What will it mean if Republicans win the Senate with Obama as president? Last month Dick Morris published a rather insightful article about what to expect if the Republicans take control of the US Senate in November. In all likelihood they will not acquire 67 votes that would permit them to override Obama’s vetoes. They may not even acquire 60 votes permitting them to cut off filibusters.

But why do human beings, with their particular anatomical configuration, want to use their feet for a task performed infinitely better by the hands?

He killed half his victims with a knife, but the whole focus was on guns. (And he’s widely referred to as a “shooter.” I think he was a slasher.) He was half Asian, but the whole focus was on whites. You could also call it situational attribution: a mixed race person is defined by his minority half when he achieves, as with our first “black” president. But when such an individual is recognized as having committed a crime, he’s suddenly white. This can only make us wonder how long it will be before Barack Obama becomes white.

However, the importance of honesty, integrity, transparency, and reliability are still requirements for the job. Dad, I thank you for modeling those traits.

Book Review of "A Time for Truth" by Os Guinness

The book title certainly begs the question “What is truth?” Guinness answers straightforwardly. After setting the scene in the first two-thirds of the book, he defines truth. “In the Biblical view, truth is that which is ultimately, finally, and absolutely real, or the ‘way it is,’ and therefore is utterly trustworthy and dependable, being grounded and anchored in God’s own reality and truthfulness....Both accuracy and authenticity are important to truth....If in our ordinary speech, telling the truth is ‘telling it like it is,’ we can say that a statement, an idea or a belief is true if what it is about is as it is presented in the statement.”

A Time for Truth: Get it. Read it. Heed it. You will be the wiser for it.

Today, the IRS continues to review the vast majority of these applications. Many groups have simply shuttered because they are at a significant disadvantage for fundraising. But now we know that it is legal to ask about the process the agency is using. It’s okay to expect the Constitution will be upheld when tax-exempt applications are under consideration. It’s fair for the public to know the principles behind the policies that motivate IRS decisions.

My point is that amid all of that legwork, when I sat down to try to conceive a list of principles of Reagan conservatism—which I did for a conference on conservatism hosted by the Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College—I ultimately came up with 11 principles.

Once we understand the V.A., we need to determine the extent of the problem and the extent of dishonesty about the problem. I conjecture that the college student who hopes for a lucrative career, who stands a chance in the political arena after graduating, if he should graduate at all, is the one who remains silent when the college president “protests” or publicly reprimands his classmate for not falling in line, or for expressing the wrong opinion. He will find it in his best interest, if I imagine things as they are, to keep his head down and say and do exactly what is expected of him by those who can make or destroy him. He will submit to diversity training as prostrately as any slave in Egypt submitted to the will of his Pharaoh, as fearfully as any Soviet submitted to the commands of Stalin and his politburo. If I am right in my conjecture, such a person would be well-conditioned to do all the wrong things when he entered politics, where cringing, cowering, back-peddling, back-stabbing and dissimulating would (as indeed they do) affect innocent victims outside the ivy walls.

The federal government’s intrusion (and sometimes outright obstruction) in the areas of transportation, energy, commerce, shipping, pipelines, and even charity, marital condition (LGBT “equal subsidy” activism would not have arisen if married people had not benefited from hundreds of preferential laws), political activity and other areas have to be discontinued.

 Regulation, to provide an even playing field and public safety… by all means, YES! Subsidies to special interests, mandates, and exceptions that choose winners and losers, absolutely NO. Until Americans understand that “Separate but Equal” never works in any area of discussion, we are doomed to federal tyranny in the end.

Is it that refusal to recognize achievement is only to be applied to other people’s achievement? 

VBA employees have been fired for shredding claims so they do not have to decide them. It can easily take a year for a claim to be decided.

  How can we honor them today? We can honor them by not destroying the America they were willing to sacrifice everything for.
