We survived the November 3 end of Daylight Savings Time (DST) with no ill effects -- except those with bruised egos who forgot to turn their clocks back one hour.

If anyone should be held accountable for DST, Ben Franklin must accept the lion‘s share of responsibility. Yes, this is the same Ben Franklin of kites-and-lightning fame.

It’s truly not shocking that a political leader would be a reprobate behind closed doors. From Caligula to the Marquis de Sade to Bill Clinton, the depraved have always been overrepresented among the ruling classes. It is for this reason that what’s even more distressing about the Katie Hill affair than what she did is the reaction to it from the broader society — including “broadminded conservatives” defending her.

Hill, the former Democrat congresswoman whose resignation from office took effect Nov. 1, certainly is our time’s Thoroughly Modern Millie. Her escapades have acquainted us with a new term, “throuple,” and she exhibited the cherished “diversity” in illicit affairs of having relations with both a man and a woman, each of whom held different underling positions. To top it off she was seen in intimate photos with a bong and the now obligatory tramp stamp (oh, yeah, sorry — “body art”).

Is the impeachment process simply an effort to nullify the 2016 election?  Is it even a legal process?  These questions are central.

Oh, dear!  Greta Thunberg is in the wrong place at the wrong time!  She's going to miss the Climate Summit!  What can we do?  We will have no one to straighten us out now.  The summit, which was to have been held in Santiago, Chile, has now been moved to Madrid, Spain.  It would be no big deal to a normal person, but to the emission-less person it is pretty much impossible to solve.  So I've invented a game . . .

Ever wonder about people of modest means who were elected to the US House and Senate or who were appointed to high government positons and complete their service decades later as very wealthy people? Many do. Going into office they may have a savings account, some investments, and real estate. In Congress they receive an annual salary ranging from $125k to $175k. When they leave they are millionaires. How does that happen?

The Swamp (establishment) that President Trump vowed to drain has created for itself a lucrative system. No wonder Democrats, Republicans, and Deep State appointees are furious at Trump and his crusade. He is upsetting their very powerful and lucrative applecart.

How do they do it? One way, but not the only way, is to establish a foundation as Congressman Elijah Cummings did with his wife. (Cummings passed away from cancer on October 17, 2019. May he rest in peace.) Once established, just about anything can be done to raise money for the foundation. Relatives may be put in charge of the foundation. They are paid a salary, travel expenses, and entertainment expenses from the foundation. The work is all foundation related as long as the employees and partners are fundraising and asking people for money.

I recently came to a startling realization that has probably not even occurred to Never-Trumpers: Democrats who hate Trump (and there are less of them every day that passes) largely because of his New York inherited lack of tact and unwillingness to back down from a fight… hate his mid-western Vice President even more! Let me repeat with emphasis… they hate Pence more than Trump, probably because they sense that Pence is a masterful salesman of the administration's achievements and future goals.

On the surface, Hillary Clinton’s “Russian asset” attack last week on Rep. Tulsi Gabbard appeared the rambling of a bitter, perhaps unhinged woman. One observer suggested that Clinton was holding a grudge because the Hawaii Democrat supported Bernie Sanders and opposed her rigging of the 2016 primary process against him. Perhaps so. Or maybe, exhibiting typical leftist intolerance of dissent, Gabbard’s anti-war stance really does make her our time’s Leon Trotsky.

But what if Clinton’s attack is actually part of a plan to defeat President Trump in 2020? What if Clinton’s theory that Gabbard may run third-party is, aside from a deep Democrat fear, precisely what more Machiavellian Dems want?

This past weekend, U.S. soldiers of Delta Force cornered Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in an underground tunnel. Baghdadi—the leader of the Islamic State—killed himself before being captured. Operation KAYLA MUELLER was a success. In this article, Benjamin V. Allison examines the raid and looks at the future of the terrorist group. He writes, “The leader of the deadliest terrorist group in history is dead. Now what?”

Trump scored a victory in one battle in the war.  Good.  Now we need to get back to the essentials of this war.  It is a war of migration.

Increasingly, more women are obtaining college degrees compared to men. Many pundits are asserting that the shortage of college-educated men is hurting women. But, is this the case? In this article, Dr. David Ayers summarizes his recent two-part investigation published at the Institute for Family Studies and argues, “The fact is that the so-called shortage of men obtaining four-year college degrees is only a problem if men do not do anything else that is challenging, pays well, and has a future.”

Dissatisfaction with the elitist dictators of western Europe has spread to Portugal.  This ancient nation seems to moving in the right direction. Let's hope Chenga grows.

When class envy is exploited, there is no longer a reason to strive to become exceptional if it results in a person becoming a target of vitriol and hatred. This results in the strangling of the American dream.

Victor Davis Hanson's article is so concise and instructive it is worth recapping. Quoting his opening words, “Traditional peasant societies believe in only a limited amount of good. The more your neighbor earns, the less someone else gets. Profits are seen as a sort of theft; they must be either hidden or redistributed. Envy rather than admiration of success reigns.”

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month­­—and Respect Life Month—yet there have been very few reminders of this: PSA? Social media campaigns? News coverage? In this article that first appeared at The American Spectator, Dr. Paul Kengor shares a personal example and highlights the need to champion human dignity and life—all life. He writes, “The month is not marked by any signature symbols, nor by the Down Syndrome children who were eliminated. Their lives were erased before they were born. We should take pride, however, in those who are here, and we should not fear or halt those yet to be born.”

It’s time for states to enact state laws to protect our children.

“Bipartisan” is defined as anything consisting of, or supported by, members of two parties, especially the two major political parties. That is the definition.

As practiced, however, bipartisanship is used as a public opinion weapon in the hands of a skilled practitioner. The idea is that bipartisanship will help beat an opponent into submission. Seeking cooperation is one thing. What is actually done is something else. Calls for bipartisanship become a semantics power game.

Words? Just words? Say one thing; do another. Bipartisanship as used by Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Nancy Pelosi implies that Republicans must compromise their core beliefs to agree with Democrats. Democrats never compromise theirs. There will always be wishy-washy, moderate Never-Trump Republicans in the House and the Senate willing to “reach across the aisle” in an act of bipartisan surrender to join with Democrats. That move is typically in one direction – left.

From global exploration (Columbus Day) to global "climate change" - Columbus Day might be a good time to honor the seeking of truth about our planet.  For example, we should have an open mind when it comes to knowing the history and prehistory of our planet.  Only in this way will we be able to find answers to our concerns about climate change today.

The Left is at it again.  Grand Forks' City Council has trashed Columbus, turning a day honoring a man and an event into a tetherless, meaningless muddle called "Indigenous People's Day".  Shame on them.

Constituents trying to control Congress by punishing them just makes no sense at all.  Why would a good person want to run for office in order to be humiliated and punished?  We need to use logic and normal human nature to get desired results, not pointless punishment.  We should make this kind of public service so desireable as to attract the very best candidates, not the sleaziest or least capable.

A person running for office cares about the people who can either put him in office or replace him.  A person who is NOT running has nothing to lose by brushing you off. Why should he care?  

News used to be all about Russia, Russia, Russia. Then it was Stormy, Stormy, Stormy. Now it is impeach, impeach, impeach. The same old song and dance about the left getting rid of Trump grows old after awhile. There is a lot of other news out here but a conscious effort by the media chooses not to cover it.

Meanwhile, congress is forever telling us what we, the people, want. “The American people want…XYZ.” And absolutely nothing was accomplished by congress for two and one-half years. What we really want is fairness in news coverage, fairness in the political process, and an honest day’s work from those we elect.

Well, elections have consequences.  We have a militant anti-Christian Attorney General in office now and we will be dealing with a lot of this kind of thing.  Court cases also have consequences, so it will be important to follow this case.
