DENNIS PATRICK: THE BOGUS PHONY FRAUD HOAX – CLIMATE CHANGE

Picking the right word for manmade climate change (the new term for global warming) is not tough. Fraud. Sham. Bogus. Phony. Hoax will do. Believing that infinitesimally insignificant man can significantly change global weather is the height of conceit.

Last week Obama attributed the problems in Syria to global warming. Hillary blamed Hurricane Matthew on global warming. Climate change is particularly useful when it is politicized.

THE ARGUMENT: Global warming is manmade and projects disaster if we do not change our ways of living. Citing from www.epa.gov.: “Recent climate changes…cannot be explained by natural causes alone…. Rather, it is extremely likely that human activities have been the dominant cause of that warming.”

In announcing his Clean Power Plan, Obama said on 8/3/15, “Levels of carbon dioxide, which heats up our atmosphere, are higher than they’ve been in 800,000 years: 2014 was the planet’s warmest year on record…14 of the 15 warmest years on record have fallen within the first 15 years of this century….[W]e’ve seen stronger storms, deeper droughts, longer wildfire seasons.” Whitehouse.gov.

THE SELL: The solution is to eliminate fossil fuels that cause an increase in carbon dioxide. Replace fossil fuels with alternative, renewable, energy because it is cleaner, cheaper and free. Create new government subsidized businesses which produce alternative energy.

THE TRUTH: The truth is that the United States is responsible for only 5 percent of the world’s total carbon emissions. “National Review” 8/4/15

“Climate Depot” states that “[P]eer-reviewed studies have documented that there have been temperatures similar to the present day on earth when carbon dioxide was up to twenty times higher than today’s levels.”

“Extreme weather events are not increasing with increased CO2; extreme weather events are dominated by natural climate variability.” So said Dr. Judith Curry, Georgia Tech climatologist, “Climate Etc.,” 8/4/15. Curry went on to say that “extreme weather was substantially worse in the 1930s and 1950s,” when CO2 levels were far lower than they are today.

Renewable energy will never be an alternative to hydrocarbons. According to the Energy Information Administration in 2014 the US produced 11,214 megawatt hours per day of electricity. Of that, coal supplied 38.7 percent, natural gas supplied 27.4 percent, nuclear energy supplied 19.5 percent, wind supplied .04 percent and solar supplied .0044 percent.

"This regulation [Clean Power Plan] will also impose higher costs of living, which again hit minority families the hardest….The study estimates that the regulation will increase black and Hispanic poverty by 23 and 26 percent, respectively.” Harry Alford, “Investor’s Business Daily,” 6/10/15

THE OBJECTIVE: Government is expanded by creating people’s dependence on government for solutions to problems. The best example for promoting this expansion may be found in Obama’s former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s edict. “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Obama met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff telling them the greatest threat to national security is climate change. Subsequently, the third United Nations climate change deal is about to be agreed upon with US support. The purported objective is to stop hurricanes like Hurricane Matthew. It boggles the mind.

The real crisis is not a crisis of climate change but a crisis of stupidity born of a faulty premise spread by Hollywood, buttressed by decades of defective critical thinking in government schools and acquiescence by many Americans.

The liberal mainstream media has become part of the state power structure, almost a branch of government, and the state is considered infallible. The primary media has become defenders of the state rather than protectors of the public from an intrusive government. Media fear mongering in the name of the state becomes a virtue. The climate change narrative repeated over and over generates a form of blind obedience to the state. Anyone who disagrees with the official narrative becomes, in effect, an enemy of the state.

Every drop of rain that falls, every gust of wind that blows is the fault of mankind, or so the narrative implies. There is no longer a “normal” state of weather in the politicized world of climate change. Mother Nature has become a victim of humanity!

And the drumbeat of silliness goes on.
