Grigori Rasputin was best known for his role as adviser to the court of Czar Nicholas II of Russia. He was also known to be slightly nuts, thus the moniker “the mad monk.”

Who is Valerie Jarrett? Every Obama supporter knows -- or should know. She is the impetus behind the Obama administration. In fulfilling her duty to the president, she would do Rasputin proud.

Jarrett’s role as senior adviser and assistant to the president for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs (a position she designed herself) is to keep the president on the straight and narrow and true to his earliest liberal beliefs. Her job includes protecting Obama from Rascally Republicans, Blue Dog Democrats, independents, moderates and pragmatists while he goes about fundamentally changing America.

“We have a kind of mind meld.” (Her words, not mine.) “And chances are what he wants to do is what I want to do.”

Jarrett is essentially unknown, unelected and unaccountable except to the president. Barack, Michelle and Valerie prefer it that way. To the president she is indispensable.

It was Michelle who introduced Barack to Valerie over dinner in July 1991 when Valerie worked for Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley as Deputy Chief of Staff and the former Michelle Robinson worked for the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin.

Jarrett is second only to Michelle as the power behind the presidency. With his consent, Jarrett orchestrates Obama’s liberal, progressive far-left policies.

The Obama and Jarrett families have interacted for years. Valerie’s mother, Barbara Taylor Bowman, helped establish the Erikson Institute specializing in child advocacy. The Institute received considerable funding from the Woods Charitable Foundation. In later years the Woods Foundation’s board of directors included Bill Ayers and Barack Obama.

Valerie’s maternal grandmother was from Berkeley, California, and active in Planned Parenthood. Evidently she was undeterred by Planned Parenthood’s racial eugenics.

In 1983, Valerie married Dr. William Robert Jarrett. Bill Jarrett’s father, Vernon Jarrett, was a notable leftist columnist favored by the Chicago media. In the 1940s Vernon served on the Citizens’ Committee to Aid Packing-House Workers together with Frank Marshall Davis, a very active Communist Party USA (CPUSA) member who had mentored Barack Obama in Hawaii. Vernon headed up the publicity committee and Frank was one of the chairmen. After his death in 1987 the FBI released Frank’s file including his CPUSA number -- 47544.

Being raised in a leftist environment, Jarrett’s case is more one of guilt by indoctrination than guilt by association. Today we have the godson of Frank Davis (Barack Obama) and the daughter-in-law of Vernon Jarrett and granddaughter of Robert Taylor (Valerie Jarrett), descendants of pro-Stalinists, running America’s executive branch of government. Amazingly, none of these people were ever vetted by the mainstream media.

To assume that Obama is ignorant or incompetent is to dangerously underestimate his administration. He knows what he is doing, how to get there and whom to employ. He depends heavily on the counsel of Jarrett, his like-minded adviser.

Of the original top three advisers to President Obama, only Jarrett remains. Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod returned to Chicago while Jarrett stayed with the president to consolidate her influence.

Jarrett’s influence extends to all executive departments and agencies and beyond. Everyone in Obama’s administration bows to Jarrett.

Here are three examples. Under Obamacare, Jarrett pushed for the Health and Human Services mandate requiring all religious groups and believers to fund abortion drugs and contraception. This included institutional churches such as the Roman Catholic Church. Vice President Joe Biden and Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley advised against the policy but lost out to Jarrett.

In another example Jarrett advised Obama on three occasions to cancel the mission to take out Osama bin Laden. Three times Obama cancelled the mission.

Jarrett is urging Obama to back a 2016 presidential candidate that will reinforce his legacy by continuing to support his policies. That person is not Hillary Clinton. Jarrett has been meeting with Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) and urging Obama to support her nomination for president. Keep in mind that she successfully advised Obama to appoint Van Jones as “green jobs czar,” Mark Lloyd as “chief diversity officer” within the Federal Communications Commission and Cass Sunstein as White House “regulatory czar.”

Jarrett is Obama’s enforcer. Obama chooses which laws he will enforce and which laws to ignore. Let’s hear no comments comparing Obama’s imperial presidency with other administrations. There is no equivalency between the noxious Soviet-style behavior of the Obama régime and the benign behavior of previous administrations.

The main difference between Jarrett and Rasputin is that Jarrett is not nuts.
