DUSTIN GAWRYLOW: HHS REPORT: HEALTHCARE REFORM WILL CAUSE HEALTHCARE COSTS TO INCREASE

No one ever said that Congress was logical. Only Congress could call something "reform" and the result of that reform be in the form of higher costs.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a report yesterday stating that the result of the government-run healthcare law just passed by Congress is higher healthcare costs.

Isn't that a shocker - the exact thing over half the country saw coming is now, after the fact, being confirmed.

According to the report: "That increase could get bigger, since Medicare cuts in the law may be unrealistic and unsustainable, the report warned...Medicare cuts, a tax on high-cost insurance and a commission to seek ongoing Medicare savings - could help reduce the rate of cost increases beyond 2020. But it held out little hope for progress in the first decade...During 2010-2019, however, these effects would be outweighed by the increased costs associated with the expansions of health insurance coverage," wrote Richard S. Foster, Medicare's chief actuary. "Also, the longer-term viability of the Medicare ... reductions is doubtful."

Instead of doing a study BEFORE passing a massive new law, they waited till AFTER the law was passed to figure out what it said.

Just more evidence that those in Washington simply do not live in reality. In the real world, businesses do feasibility studies BEFORE untaking new projects and programs.

This is EXACTLY what Nancy Pelosi meant when she said: "We have to pass the bill to see what is in it."

It is too bad, however, that Our Congressman agreed with her on that.

This brings to mind the old joke that the opposite of Progress is Congress.
