JOEL SWANSON: HARD BEING A LIBERAL WHEN FACED WITH REALITY

Thanks to an article on the Internet, I think that I have finally figured out why liberals have such a chip on their shoulder; why they prefer to shout conservatives down or play the non-existent race card, rather then engage in a serious debate of the facts.

It must be hard to be a liberal, when your so-called principles are so confluted, confused,  and conflicted that they make absolutely no sense.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why you are against capital punishment but in favor of abortion on demand.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain how soccer moms driving SUVs cause global warming instead of the cyclical changes in climate that can be documented back thousands of years.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why guns in the hands of law-abiding, patriotic American citizens are more of a threat than nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran and North Korea.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why teaching self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why homosexual parades with drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, but that the Ten Commandments in the town square and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain how business creates oppression and government creates prosperity.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why hunters don’t care about nature, but PETA activists do.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution; while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why Jessie Jackson and Jane Fonda are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson and General Robert E. Lee.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you have to explain why you voted for the likes of Al Franken, Nancy Pelosi, Kent Conrad, Harry Reid, Earl Pomeroy, and Barrack Hussein Obama.

It must be hard to be a liberal when you try to explain why this commentary is just part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy.

Maybe, maybe, if we all hugged a liberal today, they would feel just a little better about themselves.May God Bless our mis-quided liberal friends and may God Bless the United States of America.

I’m Joel Swanson, and that is my comment for today.
