PAUL SCHAFFNER:RICK BERG, KEVIN CRAMER, AND REPUBLICAN MOMENTUM

The congressional race is gaining momentum with Kevin Cramer announcing his candidacy and Rick Bergs' impending announcement on Tuesday.  My intention is to move forward to obtain the GOP nomination for Congress.

First, I consider Kevin Cramer a friend.  I do not know Rick Berg very well, however, I appreciate Rick taking the time and consideration to call me and communicate his intention. And, like me he is a Bison. Both men have served North Dakota unselfishly for many years.

My previous career as a football coach consisted of: analyzing probabilities, judging human nature, and leadership.  A key component of leadership is not being distracted by the irrelevant. As a party we must not be distracted by the irrelevant.  What came first, opportunity or the opportunist? Is irrelevant (timing of announcements).

This election is about conservative principle and leadership to defend North Dakota prerogatives and to restore equilibrium in Washington D.C.

Respectfully,
Paul Schaffner

Well contested conventions are extremely healthy to political parties because of the maximization of participation and subsequent debate of important issues of the day. The upcoming Republican convention promises to be one of the most memorable is North Dakota history.

If you care about America, join the party, attend the convention, and take it back from the socialists!
